Tips for Beginners from a Beginner
By iMetDeath
So, this is my first guide I’ve written since I was a teenager and like the title says, I am myself a beginner at this game. It serves several purposes, the first of which is to put my editing programs to use for something, the other is to have a project to pass the time. I hope it’s a quick read and helps someone have an easier time enjoying an awesome game. It’s not meant for anyone who has put many hours in and seems common sense, but to remind and reinforce the ideas for other beginners. Plus I want to see what happens when I post this guide. Thanks for any and all support. Any feedback is welcome, even if it’s just to say you hate me.

1. Use your flashlight!
You might think you can see indoors just fine

but you’d be surprised what you missed.
2. Use your Spacetime skill.
Sometimes things are hiding in plain sight. It is easy to just run by a box like in the top picture. Spacetime points them out.

It also sees through walls. But only from so far away, just a little closer and the item shows up.
3. Teleporters
If you’re nearby one, even if you don’t feel like exploring the immediate area around it. They are worth activating. Your next task might be right near one that you passed by and could’ve just teleported to.
The "Other Stuff"
These are much more subjective areas and reflect my preferences more than anything.
The stats are 100% accurate though.

1. Your House/Territory.
How and where you want to build is 93.6% up to you, 5.3% up to location (Availability), location (Validity), location (Suitability) and 1.1% up to {rdm:error_code}.
You probably won’t keep the first place you build, and probably shouldn’t. It’s easy enough to relocate your (mostly) entire territory, or tear it down and rebuild anew. So don’t feel obligated to anything. Ever.

2. Storage.
There are a LOT of items, especially when it comes to parts and bits and pieces you need to build bigger and better gear/facilities. I recommend keeping things simple, but contained. Ores, Ingots, Logs, Rocks etc. in one container, Consumables/Foods in another, Weapons/Gear, Other crafting materials such as fabrics/hides/adhesives. I don’t think it’s worth micromanaging inventory as long as you know what box you packed it in.

3. Go through keybindings to see what you can do.
There were some skills that I was unaware of, even after tutorials.
Also, you can change skills to a key that’s more comfortable to you. For example, I swapped my ‘Q’ (Spacetime) and ‘E’ (Deviation) keys because I tend to hit E by accident, especially when reloading, releasing my Deviation and wasting it’s energy. Worst that happens now is I locate items more often.

4. Weigh your options with memetics.
You’ll get enough points to spend, but it’ll make life easier if you plan what you’re going to unlock instead of just picking whatever is next. Pickaxes are necessary for materials you’ll need for everything, so I like to get those upgraded as soon as possible.

5. Your level shouldn’t dictate where you are. You should.
You’ll level up either way and there will always be content below your current level, so play your way. If you want to clear lowest level things first, go for it. If you want to migrate to your level area as you get there, that’s cool too. It’s your choice, which brings me to my last point.

6. It’s just a game!
Things aren’t that serious. It may get frustrating, and it might consume time easily. Just remember that it’s a game. It’s beautiful, but so is real life. As @BarrrNone says: “Go outside, touch some grass.” at least from time to time.
The End
Please give me stuff and let me know what you think of my attempt here :)

That's all I've got, there is no more.

Seriously?

You think there's more here?

Nope.

I'm a beginner, and I want to say to you, that I appreciate the comments you made about this game. They were filling and on point especially relating to storage and the different items accumulated during game play. I'm looking forward to playing the game and having fun. I can only imagine what it's going to be like....... with your comments pertaining to the subject you've painted a picture for me. Thanks, SoldierBlac

Beginner here as well, thank you for these tips; another one related to the storage boxes...you can add icons to the front of boxes and name boxes as well (for those of us with Storage OCD).
