All Obtainable Scans
By Ebanella
All scans obtainable in current version of the game (21 Feb 2025).
New game plus is not required. I.e. all scans without exception can be collected without using the post end game grappling hook ability.
* The game is currently bugged, leading to miscalculated total and collected scan numbers, as well as incorrect statistics in the level end and level select menu. According to developer, he's going to address these and other bugs once he's finished working on his next game. (source: game's Discord)

Total scans (obtainable):
Level 1 "The Wall": 24
Level 2 "Failed Biome": 19 (not 20*)
Level 3 "Waste Tunnels": 19 (not 20*)
Level 4 "Ancient Cistern": 4
Level 5 "Undercity": 15 (one of which won't increase the collected scan counter*)
Level 6 "Foundation": 11
Level 7 "Sunken City": 13
Level 8 "Dissolution": 8 or 10 depending on game mode

Level 1 "The Wall": 24 Scans

Scans 1-4 are on the main path next to the first cabin.

Scans 5 and 6 are next to the corpse.

IMPORTANT: you must scan the climbing picks BEFORE picking them up, otherwise you'd have to restart the level for them to reappear.

For scans 7-9 you must return to the place where you saw the title of the level and keep going past the tube through which you fell until you reach a set of rusty platforms.
Following the rusty platform path will lead you to a material research cabin.

If instead of following the hanging part of the path you keep climbing the wall past it (marked with purple on the screenshot above), behind the corner you will find scan 10.

Look down from the platform where you picked the climbing picks and you'll see a glowing tube - go there for scans 11 and 12.

Scans 13-15 are next to and inside the second cabin.

Scan 16. Way off the main path almost at the top of the level is the hardest scan to obtain: "hidden basecamp EditDotEXE". It is possible to get there in a regular game using only climbing picks, but it will take a lot of time and effort, so it might be better to complete the game first to get the grappling hook ability.
Here is a suboptimal way to get there for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5eLq8lmMfk

Scan the first fan switch for scan 17.

Scans 18-21 are inside the third cabin and the large cement tube next to it.

You will get scan 22 while disabling the second fan in order to progress further down the main path.

Scans 23-24 are located next to the locked down biome window.

Level 2 "Failed Biome": 19 Scans (not 20)

Scan 1 is next the the starting point.

Scans 2-4 are found in the medbay and a hut close by (leave the medbay and walk around the column to get to the hut).

Scan 5, a mattress, is located in the first mold patch halfway down the first tower.
This mold patch spans two levels - head down to find the mattress.

Scan 6 is a broken fan blade next to the lift.

Scans 7-8 are obtained by scanning the satellite terminal.
IMPORTANT: scan the terminal first, THEN press the button, THEN scan the terminal again.
Pressing the button before scanning the terminal will prevent you from getting scan 7, requiring a level restart.

Scan 9 can be found next by under one of the three lightposts.

Find another lightpost that has nothing next to it and jump down to find a mold research hut containing scan 10.

Scans 11-14 are located on the group of islands next to the propeller hut. Follow the propeller signs to get there. The plastic bag scan can be very difficult to spot - look for a tiny white stone-like object under one of the dark trees.
IMPORTANT: scan the propeller BEFORE picking it up, otherwise you'll have to restart the level.

Somewhere under the main group of islands next to one of the collectible crystals you can find a tiny makeshift hut with scan 15 inside.

Scan 16 is the mold flower.
IMPORTANT: you must scan the flower BEFORE picking it up, otherwise you'll have to restart the level to be able to scan it again.

Once you activate the lift, get to the other side to find scan 17: an unremarkable wooden platform of observation deck.

After helpful android activates the bridge for us, cross it and next to the level exit you'll find scans 18 and 19.

Level 3 "Waste Tunnels": 19 Scans (not 20)

Scan 1: flare gun.
IMPORTANT: scan the flare gun BEFORE picking it up or you'll have to restart the level.

Scans 2-7 are located next to the inactive water turbine.

Scans 8-12 are in the first spelunker camp, the one with the mattress.

Further down the main path there will be screams and moans coming from one of the tiny unmarked holes. Follow the hole to find crushed corpse of scan 13.

You'll spot scans 14 and 15 in the pile of supplies on the bottom of the vertical pipe.

Scan 16 is the moldy corpse in one of the side tunnels of the cave system - follow the scattered rope strands to locate it.

Scan 17 is the pressure diverter. Climb the lever in order to progress further.

Scans 18 and 19 are the talkative sitting corpse.
IMPORTANT: make sure to scan him from both sides of the wall, it's counted as two separate scans.

Level 4 "Ancient Cistern": 4 Scans

Scans on this level are impossible to miss: follow the main path and don't forget to look around for giant murals.

Level 5 "Undercity": 15 Scans (1 of which is bugged)

Scan 1 is the security gate you pass after entering the first door of the level.

Scans 2 and 3 are the train station terminal and the heavy gate that you'll find by following the train tracks.

Scan 4 is easy to miss: it's a small grey door leading to the bridge with the cowardly soldier.

Scans 5-7 are in the nuclear reactor room.

Scans 8-14 are scattered across the library. Make sure to scan all the books on the librarian's desk.
Two of the remaining books are located on two separete bookshelves, slightly sticking out.
IMPORTANT: The double dash upgrade terminal is bugged as of 21 Feb 2025 and may not register as being scanned.

After you cover the ultra long jump across the destroyed bridge, follow the path further and to your right will be a scannable building - scan 15.

Level 6 "Foundation": 11 Scans

You'll bump into scan 1 right before the first windy section of the level.

Scan 2 is a small hut standing under the first area of the level with giant antennae.

Scan 3 is slightly further down in a hut with a collectible crystal.

Scans 4 and 5 are in the ruins of a tribal settlement.

Scan 6: once you reach the sludge part of the level don't miss the pipe that is actively flooding it.

Scan 7 is the first hangman of the level.

Scans 8 and 9 are located next to the giant harvester machine.

After you find your way out of the harvester dome, go right and below until you eventually see a group of cabins way down below. Scan 10 is the terminal in the most distant one.

Scan 11: After you reach the wind tower, get into into the center by grabbing the walls to overcome the airflow, and scan the giant seal blocking the level exit.

Level 7 "Sunken City": 13 Scans

Once you reach the sludge, follow the owl and to your right you'll see scans 1 and 2.

Scans 3 and 4 are the easily spottable water fountain and a Y-shaped statue on the main path.
A few minutes away is yet another hard to miss Y-shaped statue of scan 5.

You'll eventually come by scans 6 and 7 by following the main path.
One of them will be on a building roof.

Scans 8-12 are in the cathedral area: impossible to miss, just make sure to scan everything.

Scan 13 is naturally obtained by triggering the level exit.
NOW YOU UNDERSTAND NOW YOU UNDERSTAND NOW YOU UNDERSTAND

Level 8 "Dissolution": 8 or 10 scans depending on game mode

The first 8 scans are present in both the normal and explorer mode of the game and are located in the intro area.
Simply look around and you'll easily spot them in separate patches of mold.
The last scan of the section is mandatory and leads to either boss run in normal mode or temple section in the explorer mode.
(If you decide to 100% complete the game by collecting all secret crystals, finishing all the secret simulation levels and two secret trial runs, then the last of these eight scans will provide you with the right mindset to achieve the goal.)

In Explorer mode there are 2 extra scans: the talking statue next to section start, and a telescope on the very top of the level - keep climbing the tallest structures you can see to reach it.
