Yes, hello, it's me, the local opossum. Here to fill your head full of secrets, and also get my physical notes page into a digital format so it's harder to lose my notes. (I don't have screenshots of everything on hand yet, so don't mind the lack of screenshots)

Most of these special interactions are performed by talking to the enemy with a specific item in your inventory, the exception will be noted. If you know of an interaction missing from this guide please let me know so I can update it.

Zone 2 Rugs in particular is looking for a light, if you have the lighter from zone 1 fish you can hand it over to him to end the fight and obtain 2 cigarettes.

Zone 3 Trish is hounding for a drink, bring her the liquor bottle from zone 2's fish she will spare you and you'll gain 1 first strike damage and 2 first strike defense for the rest of the run.

Burned Alive can be one shot by using the lighter on them, if you talk to them (With Luna only) they'll even ask you to do it.


If you are at 1 heart and talk to the Underworld Beast it will spare you, ending the fight. (verified by 隣の黒人)

Recruiting additional party members can make or break a run, so it's good to keep your options and their conditions in mind, as well as the fact you can only have 3 recruited at a time and duplicates are not allowed.

By reducing the crawling fossil to 1 HP and then talking to it will join your ranks.
Crawling Fossil can claw at enemies for 1 damage at 90 accuracy for 4 crimson fragments or heal you for 1 at the cost of 10 crimson fragments.

By obtaining the Crucifix from zone 3's fish, you can recruit the Acolyte (encountered using the bunch of keys from the doorman)
The Acolyte can read scripture to give you 3 resistance against the next hit you take or preach to increase your accuracy, both for free.

(screenshot pending) By having the Cult Robe from killing an Acolyte you can recruit the Healer from zone 3.
The healer can swing their scissors for 3 damage at an 85% chance at the cost of 1 temp HP and sew your wounds, converting 1 max HP into 2 temp HP

Recruiting the follower is as simple as talking to them, no items needed.
The follower can swing their crucifix for 4(!) damage at an 85% chance for 6 crimson fragments and heal you for 3 for 10 crimson fragments. Truly, they're holding back when you fight them in zone 1.
