Description
Simple new UI for showing known animals, options allow for animals to be unlocked through various means, from simply being on the map to having to tame them. You can also choose to have them all known from the start, all the info is tracked regardless so this can be changed at any time. There's also an option to hide unknown animals entirely instead of having them visible in the screen with their info garbled.

Animals are listed if they meet the requirements, in short this should mostly just result in animals with no mechanoids, including modded ones.

Unlocks via sighting are purely detecting if they spawn, so any method that spawns an animal will mark them as seen, in vanilla this tends to only be if they have been on a player or encounter map, mods may spawn them for other reasons and cause them to be shown as seen but I am not aware of any doing this. The taming check just patches the code ran when an animal is tamed, so if something bypasses that and does it more directly it may not be detected.

No known incompatibilities.

  • But why?
Why not? I felt like doing a collect-them-all playthrough and just made a UI flexible enough to use in any run.
  • Settings could be done better?
Anything can always be done better. 'Good enough' is fine for me.
  • How long does it take to make something like this?
About 3 hours for the initial mod, mostly from the repeated startup times to test. Since then multiple days have been spent refining things in updates.
  • Can you make a -pedia for something else?
    Not likely.
  • Does this work for modded animals?
    Of course.
  • Can more filters be added?
Filters are handled using custom Defs if it's detecting a Comp, anything else will require custom C# code, any mod can add their own filters.
