Intro
Welcome to my first ever guide. I hope it is helpful to someone.
Do I need DLC to 100% this game?
No, you do not need DLC. The DLC will, however, speed it up in two ways:
  • DLC characters are strong and will make missions easier and faster
  • DLC characters are required for wiki completion, so if you do not own the DLC, you are at the mercy of RNG to spawn them in trials
How long does it take to 100% this game?
It took me about 40 hours to 100% this game. However, I did not have a guide, as there was no English achievement guide at the time. With this guide, you can do it faster.
Unmissable achievements
Doggy Lover - Defeat the first boss (map 5. Counterattack)

ZUNIER - Defeat the second boss (map 10. Scalet Mansion)

HJ's BUG' - Defeat the third boss (map 15. Wind God's Lake)

Gensokyo Defender - Defeat the 4th boss (map 20. Void Border)

I am strongest! - Complete the campaign in difficulty easy or above
Achievements for game completion

New to Gensokyo - Win the first level on difficulty normal or above

A Normal Magician - Complete the campaign on difficulty normal or above

Worthy Opponent - Complete the campaign on difficulty hard or above

Better than Developers - Complete the campaign on difficulty lunatic. This isn't that hard, but it's hard on a first playthrough because you don't have all your characters and passive tree perks yet. If you play on a lower difficulty first and then come back after finishing the campaign, it's a lot easier.

Hero of the Gensokyo - Complete all hero modes of the campaign maps. There's no difficulty restriction so these can be played on easy. This should give you no trouble.

Challenger of the Gensokyo - Complete all challenge modes of the campaign maps. Just like the hero modes these can be played on easy, but some are tricky regardless. Especially map "18. Blazing Furnace". For that one, the trick is to observe that enemies always come from one direction at a time, so you can move your characters between waves. The spawn point will rotate clockwise twice and then anticlockwise once.

Perfectionist - Complete all campaign missions with 3 stars. No difficulty restriction, so cheesable on easy mode.

Power Overwhelming - Unlock all passive tree perks. This actually unlocks before you get all perks. I get the idea that at some point perks were added, but they forgot to raise the requirement for the achievement. Thus, it is now awarded when you still miss a few perks.
Achievements that require almost no effort

Greedy Shrine Maiden - Have 1000 blue points (money) when finishing a level. This is really easy because in many levels, you get a ton of points from the final wave, so all you have to do is not spend any during the final wave. I was able to finish with 2000 blue points without real effort.

- Defeat 20 enemies in one attack. You should automatically get this while playing the game. It happens often enough.

This is a farm simulator game - Have Yuka grow 32 sunflowers. All you have to do is play with Yuka and upgrade her. She can grow way more than 32 in one game.

Autumn Harvest - Let Minoriko generate 5 points. Minoriko is an enemy that periodically spawns 1 point when moving down the path. If you defend map "14. Moriya Shrine" near the exit, you get it automatically.

Kedama Killer - Kill 1000 Kedama. You will get this automatically while playing the game for other achievements.

Micro Control Master - Defeat 1000 enemies with player characters. You will get this automatically while playing the game for other achievements.

Gensokyo Monster TD Fan - Play 100 games. You should get this automatically while playing the game for other achievements. I do not think it is possible to complete everything else in less than 100 games.

Gensokyo Grenadier - Kill 200 enemies with bombs. You should get this automatically when playing map "14. Moriya Shrine" on challenge mode.

NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_NAME_39_4 - Spawn Doremy Sweet. In game, this achievement is called An ally from naught!. Doremy appears in both trials. You will get her multiple times in Trials of Courage while completing the wiki. I got her 3 times in 1 run. You can also repeatedly start Celestial Trial until she spawns in the cage next to the starting point.

NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_NAME_39_3 - Find a gacha within a gacha within a gacha. Gacha can be purchased in both trials for 250 blue point, and each gacha you open has a chance of spawning another one. You should get this achievement automatically while doing Trials of Courage to complete the wiki.
Easy achievements that do require some effort

Shrine Party - Level 8 different characters to 5 stars in a game. You can only bring 8 characters, so place one of each and upgrade them all.

Fastest tale in Gensokyo - Start every wave early. This can be completed while playing the first map on difficulty easy.

Neat and Uniform - Place only one type of character in a level. This can be completed while playing the first map on difficulty easy.

Opps - Destroy a chest with a bomb. Start any level with chests and throw a bomb at one.

Full of Wound - Lose a game on difficulty easy. Start a map on easy, place nothing and speed up time.

Super Graze - Finish a map in story mode with 1 HP left. Start the first mission, count the enemies until 19 go through and then kill the rest.

- Lose a level 9 times. It needs to be the same level. Losing once on 9 different levels will not count.

Frozen Frog - Have Cirno freeze Suwako 100 times. If you do not complete this automatically, this is easy to finish off on map "15. Wind God's Lake". The challenge mode spawns only Suwako and Cirno is one of the available characters.

Medium difficulty achievements
Gensokyo High-speed rail - Have 12 train cabins on screen at the same time. Note that a train has 3 cabins, so you need 4 trains. This is not only a matter of spamming Yukari, you can fail it even with 9 or 10 maxed Yukaris. What you need to do is place the Yukaris carefully so that enemies enter their range roughly at the same time. Then, they all spawn their train at the same time. I recommend map "20. Void Barrier" for it.

NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_39_5 - Make it to wave 50 in the Celestial Trial. In game, this achievement is called Divine. It's not that hard. When I tried to get this achievement, I ended up getting to wave 99.
Hard achievements

A Normal Magician - complete the wiki. The most time consuming achievement in the game. Do not be fooled by the Steam global completion percentage. I think this achievement used to be easier, but when content was added to the game, the wiki got expanded as well.

It requires that you spawn all characters in the game with all star levels, and face every enemy in the game. In the current game, this means you need to:
  • Finish all campaign missions
  • Finish the post-campaign missions (not all of them have new enemies, but at least 4 of them do)
  • Play with every character and level them all to 5 stars at least once
  • Play Celestial Trial until you've found all enemies and bosses
  • Play Trials of Courage until you've found all enemies and bosses AND all friendlies at all star levels
  • If you do not own DLC, you need to find the DLC characters in Trials of Courage too
The Celestial Trial can be completed reasonably quickly. If you're lucky, you have it done in 2 runs. The Trials of Courage, however, will take a lot of time. I think I needed 5 long runs to get all the enemies and bosses, and then I still needed to farm the Trial-specific friendly characters and DLC characters.

One important thing to realize is that finding a character at 2 stars or above is useless: you will not get the 1 star completion, so you will have to find the character again. If you find a 1 star, however, you can upgrade them and complete all star levels. Therefore, a smart tactic is to always keep a level 1 character on the map in Trials of Courage, and then when you find hammers, use them on that character (hammers are an item that transforms a character into a random different character, they drop from gacha). This is a far quicker way to get completions than trying to find 1 star characters from random draws.

After you complete the wiki, there is one final achievement:

NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_NAME_39_6 - Complete all other achievements. In game this achievement is called Wonder of you.
