Intro to this thing

If you are reading this guide then you are probably encountering the dreaded issue known as crashing on game startup. Fear not, for the instructions with in may solve your issues.

THIS FIX IS FOR IF YOU ARE GETTING THE FOLLOWING ERROR IN EVENT VIEWER

The fix

1. Located local game files and then select "BaldrSky.exe" properties

2. select the compatibility tab, and then select "change settings for all users"

3. In the new window, select the following

Run this program in compatibility mode for: windows 7
Disable fullscreen optimization
run this program as administrator

4. press apply, and then close the properties window

5. locate and open "StartUpTool.exe" located in the games files

6. Change the following settings, these can be changed after.

full screen refresh rate - 60
Image Cache Size - 128mb

7. Double click on "BaldrSky.exe" to launch the game. The game should now launch correctly. Exit the game.

The game should now correctly relaunch if you make any changes in the "StartUpTool.exe" now and from within steam.

Why this breaks?

This appears to be a bug with windows 11 24H2 and how it handles older applications launching by default. By default it tries to use windows Vista, and will not correctly load until a hidden config gets updated and locked to prevent windows from making these changes.

Fun fact; once the game launches once successfully, you can revert all these changes and magically it still works 🙃

Updates

If you are still encountering issues with the program launching there are two possible metholds

Noctes fix: reset the "disable full screen optimization"

you may need to also change "compatibility mode" to "windows 8/8.1" - This will sometimes fix other strange issues with windows 11 compatibility

The fix worked for me, but only if I launch game exe directly. How can I make steam play button work properly?

Hi 我永远喜欢朝武芳乃！From the event log's it looks like it might be an issue with the install on your PC. Does the game launch if you remove and reinstall and do not install the 18+ patch? or if you validate the game files?
