The Humble Tour Stand
Building this will allow your curators...sorry, experts, guide groups of museum enthusiasts through a tour of a select number of exhibits on display. A good tour will increase the amount of donations given and the amount of buzz accumulated if they were to look at the exhibits on their own normally. A well trained expert will get your guests buzzed better and get better donations than a tour given by an untrained expert.

It should go without saying that you'll want an expert who is an expert in the field of the main category for the exhibits they are giving a tour about. IE: Prehistory, Botany, Marine Life, Supernatural, etc...

Having an expert who is NOT specialized in the field that the tour encompasses will get you negative feedback. But this should not actually effect the overall star rating of the tour.
Cohesion Is Key
This is an example of an exhibit. When making a good tour, we really only care about three things there:
  • The Category and Subcategory
  • The Buzz
  • The Decoration Value

One area that tours are judged on is the "Cohesion" level. Having all exhibits of the same category will give you a perfect cohesion. For example, a tour consisting of a singular fish tank holding just clown fish will automatically give you a perfect cohesion level. However, having two fish tanks, one consisting of just clown fish and the other of just Tiger Sharks, you will get a cohesion score of "Great". This is because, while they are of the same primary category (Marine Life), they are of different sub categories (Temperate Fish and Tropical Fish respectively in this case).

In the screenshot provided, you can see the category and sub category (Prehistory is the main category and "Dinosaur Bones" is the sub category). This is circled in red.

Having a tour that consists of different main categories will result in a much lower cohesion score, thus lowering the overall "Star" level of your tour.

Total Buzz
In short, you are given 1/5 of a star for every 100 buzz that your tour consists of. A tour with a perfect length, cohesion, decoration and average quality will give you 4 stars if your total buzz is below 100. Likewise, having a total buzz of 499 will still not net you a 5 star tour. In the screenshot provided, total buzz for the selected exhibit is circled in blue.

Decoration Value
Just put down decor that is appropriate for the main category of your exhibits until the decoration score says 5/5. This is easy and pretty cheap. This can be seen in the screenshot, circled in black.
Total Length

As we can see in the screenshot provided, when setting up a tour you have a a dotted blue line that appears between selected exhibits AND THE TOUR STAND. From a quick and measured estimate, this can go UP TO a walking distance of 40 tiles total for a "perfect" score. While it's not crystal clear, you can tell where your tour is losing that "Perfect" score when the dotted line turns from a darker blue to a lighter one. Different colors (IE: Green, yellow) mean a lower score which is generally bad.

I'm not 100% certain on how this mechanic works but when setting up the tour, you can see what your "Length" Score is at the top.
Getting That Five Star Tour
So now that we know how cohesion works, we kind of understand how the length mechanic works and we know that we need a total buzz of at least 500, how do we get a five star tour?

To get a five star tour all we need is:
  • A load of exhibits worth 500 buzz and are all of "Pristine" Quality; This will satisfy two categories.
  • A length that the game considers "Perfect"; This will satisfy one category
  • All of the exhibits need to be of the same category and sub-category; This will give us a perfect "Cohesion" score.
  • All of your exhibits decorated so that it's decoration rating is 5/5.

Easier said than done, but this can be accomplished relatively easily through Dinosaur Bones or, if you can farm pristine fish, aquariums.

Use the ghost room with famous spirits, just 2 room is enough to get all perfect and 500 buzz. good luck!
