The Facility’s Legacy:

Researchers and scientists from around the world came to Aurora to work on groundbreaking projects, from energy sources to experimental materials.

Rivalries and Relationships:

Black Mesa Research Facility: Aurora’s path often crossed with that of Black Mesa, another research giant known for its work in quantum physics. The competition between the two was fierce, with both vying for the latest advancements and government contracts. Sometimes the rivalry was heated, but there was also mutual respect for each other’s achievements.

Aperture Science: Aperture Science was Aurora’s most unconventional competitor. Known for its bold and sometimes bizarre experiments, Aperture’s approach to science was both groundbreaking and controversial. Aurora and Aperture had their share of disagreements and collaborations, often finding themselves in a short war.

What started as a routine experiment spiraled into a crisis that led to the facility’s sudden closure. The exact cause remains a mystery, but rumors swirl about a catastrophic breach involving experimental technologies or dangerous biological entities.

Chaos and Abandonment: After the shutdown, the once state-of-the-art security systems fell into disrepair. The facility, once full of activity, became a ghostly shell of its former self. The containment units meant to hold dangerous experiments broke down, and the facility’s security measures failed. Without anyone to manage or repair the damage, the chaos inside grew.

Current State: Today, Aurora Research Complex is a hazardous place, marked by decay and danger. The abandoned hallways are cluttered with debris, and the failed experiments that escaped containment now roam freely. The complex is a dangerous, eerie place where the remnants of a once-great scientific endeavor lie in ruins.

For those brave enough to venture into the ruins, the story of Aurora unfolds through its empty corridors and crumbling labs. It’s a tale of ambition and failure, of a facility that reached too far and fell too hard, leaving behind a legacy of both wonder and warning.

Your Objective: The Combine soldiers, an organized terrorist force, have taken one of the most important figures of the facility, who is still spreading words online and has become famous across social media. Your objective is to save him at the top floor. Floor 10. He is Commander Vincent Hayes. A former military officer now leading resistance efforts from within the ARC.
