Considered as the first luxury crossover SUV, five generations of the RX have been produced to date, the first being compact in size, and the latter classified as mid-size.

The fourth generation of the RX was released in late 2015 and was presented at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show along with the new trim levels of the Lexus IS and GS. Departing from the clear taillight design.
