Overview
Balatro Mod Manager (BMM) is a handy way to browse and install various mods for Balatro. BMM is especially useful for downloading and installing the prerequisites for the Balatro Multiplayer mod.
Installation Guide
  • Navigate to the Balatro Mod Manager[balatro-mod-manager.dasguney.com] homepage.

  • Click on Download.
  • (Optional) Select your operating system from the menu on the left side.
  • Select your option by clicking on the download button. Alternative methods for downloading BMM are listed below.
  • Before installing, you should ensure that other Balatro mods are either uninstalled or known to not affect the installation of the program.
  • Once downloaded, run the installer (with admin privileges). N.B.: For Windows users, the installer is currently unsigned, and so you will need to click "More info" on the warning screen, and then select "Run anyway".

To see a very well put-together video guide, please see this great one by Bean:

Balatro Multiplayer
To download Balatro Multiplayer:
  • Launch BMM.
  • Click on the "Technical" tab.
  • Download the "Steamodded" mod-loader.
  • Download the "Multiplayer" mod.
When downloaded and you click on the "Launch" button, the Balatro Multiplayer mod will be loaded when the game starts.
Enabling and Disabling Mods
To change a mod's availability without uninstalling it, click on the "Mods" button from the Main Menu.
Click on the tickboxes alongside the mods you wish to enable/disable.
When you are happy with your selections, click "Back".

This will relaunch the game, with your selection of enabled mods.
Disabled mods will appear at the end of the mods list, greyed out and with unticked tickboxes.

Install Locations
Installed Mods

Mods are installed to the Mods folder for Balatro.

This can be found by navigating to the "Settings" tab in BMM and clicking the button under the "Mods" heading called "Open Mods Folder".

On Windows, the equivalent address is "C://[User]/AppData/Roaming/Balatro/Mods".

BMM's Location

BMM is also installed to the AppData folder, but in a slightly different location.

On Windows, the equivalent addresses are "C://[User]AppData/Local/Balatro Mod Manager" and "C://[User]/AppData/Local/balatro-mod-manager".

Both directories are important for BMM to run effectively and efficiently. The uninstaller for BMM is located in the first listed directory.
How to Uninstall
Uninstalling Mods

To uninstall mods, you can remove them manually; however, it is easier to remove them using the BMM client.

On the "Mods" tab, click on the label at the top of the list named "Installed Mods". This will let you see all the mods in the Balatro Mods folder (including those installed outside BMM).

To remove any mod, click on the corresponding red "trashcan" icon.

Uninstalling BMM

To uninstall BMM, you will need to locate where the AppData for BMM is installed.

  • If you created a shortcut on your Desktop, you should be able right-click on it and choose an option to open the corresponding file location.
  • Otherwise, open a File Explorer window and type (without quotes) "%appdata%" into the address bar and press Enter. You then need to navigate up one folder, to select Local > Balatro Mod Manager.

Once you have located this folder, you should see the corresponding Uninstall executable.

Uninstallation Warning

Please remember that removing BMM without removing mods in theory should be safe - however, you must be very careful, as some users have reported profiles in Balatro becoming corrupted due to incompatible mods being uninstalled in a safe way.

My recommendation is that If in doubt, uninstall mods individually one by one, and finally uninstall BMM last of all.

@joloprut400 As a very high-level overview, when a program wants to use a resource over and over again, it may choose to save it to a file that it can easily access to save time. This is often known as caching, and it can be used to save data, functions and that sort of thing. Over time, the program may make a number of redundant copies of data it's accumulated, and occasionally this leads to conflicting information. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to delete the files i.e. clearing the cache, so that the program goes and fetches the necessary information from the latest version, before saving that to a new cache file.

I've checked my installation and I'm still running v0.2.3. Current version is on v0.2.6 and there are some changes I've noticed on the Github page. My suggestion is to visit the Release page on the Github repository ( here [github.com]) and download an earlier version.

@DJ Detektiv Huhn Did you run the installer with admin privileges? The installer needs admin privileges in order to install everything and set up the correct permissions. Try reinstalling and see if it makes a difference.

Balatro wont launch from BMM, I made sure it points to the right folder, I launched BMM as admin and I even tried just starting vanilla Balatro from BMM - no success either. Do you have an idea what could be wrong?
