By 浮云邪神 Xin
Collection with more than 20+ builds organized into pictures. Most of these different combinations have been tested by myself, I also did some searching to check for more builds but little were found. So, I made this guide to organize and share my findings.

Current Version: REV. 661655

TLDR;
  • Just give me ONE BEST build
    >> #13 The Gnarlic Runner

  • But my progression haven't reach there yet
    >> #03 Floracrane Set

  • Yeah, but I don't like those
    >> #08 Funguile Set or #16 Healing Spinner

#01 Heavy Focus Melee
★★★★
Personal favorite, was going to call this something like "Golf Swing Nuke Master Number One Best Build"...

Anyway...
  • Golf Swing is all you need to learn and master
  • Concentrated Gem is vital for survival even if the slot does not match.
  • The Tenderizer has matching Focus Damage Gem x2
  • If Quetzi Waist Guard is not available, use the alternatives Legs
  • Applicable for The Prismatic Tenderizer and Iceshard Spear
#02 Heavy Focus Range
★★★
  • Hail of Gory has no fall down animation penalty when using Mortar Shot, even when fully loaded
  • For other Cannon weapon, the fall down animation is obvious when fully loaded.
  • Although Focus Damage deals more damage but Heavy Damage is recommended for gems because Mortar Shot is 100% Heavy Damage and only remaining 50% ammo is Focus Damage. Also, Cannon's dodge is also Heavy Attack.
  • The Jackalope actually benefits Colossapphire Greaves quite frequently as timing for Focus Hit triggers the "standing still" counter.
#03 Floracrane Set
★★★
Unlocking these weapons and equipments are probably the first important milestone on early game progression
  • Skill spamming is fun and dodge cancel upon landing is the key for mastering this build.
  • However, the Skill has been significantly nerfed in past patch and you need to be careful of where you are landing.
  • Generally, Striker (the ball weapon) and Bow has higher skill damage than other counterparts (Hammer / Spear / Cannon) with the same skill.
#04 Chimaera Diver
★★★★
Another personal favorite after min-maxing from Floracrane Set.
  • Skill deals more consistent damage, approx 29% more damage than Floracrane Set as this one does not rely on critical hit chance
  • Remember to change direction to benefit from Bonejaw Jawbelt
  • Applicable for Boss Weapon: Swarm's Spite
#05 Acid Diver
★★
Fun and experimental variant, in case someone need your help creating Acid Pools *wink*
#06 Skill Crit
★★★
Cannoneer version of skill based crit build.
  • If standing near enemies is too risky, switch to Floracrane Raiments.
  • Iriss Wrap is more useful for cannon player who can easily perfect dodge
  • The skill reload Cannonball upon hitting enemy, standing in corner will allow you to chain indefinitely unless all shots missed.
  • Applicable for Boss Weapons: Rootbound Knots and Corruption's Touch
#07 Healback Slammo
★★★
Originally, this build should work even without any gem.
  • Heal back is based on absorbed damage, which is bad if your current hp is below 50%
  • With Colossapphire Helmet, you can easily deal against mobs as they will be frozen when they hit you, but this is less effective against miniboss / boss (cannot be frozen)
  • To guarantee heal back, avoid calling back Striker or having other damage source (i.e. Thorny Gem, Boarfrost Mantle, Retaliation, etc), otherwise your skill will miss on dead enemy.
  • Alternatively The Pulled Yamstring (Bow counterpart for Yammo weapon) is also a good choice
  • Bonejaw Head Cage and Quetzi Waist Guard is good combination to upgrade powers and preparing for boss fight.
#08 Funguile Set
★★★★★
This equipment set is another important milestone on late game progression.
  • Another variant for Yammo weapon (see #07 Healback Slammo)
  • For team play, switch to Colossapphire Helmet and The Bam Bamboozle instead
  • With Colossapphire Helmet fighting mobs are a lot easier, frozen enemy allow you to go for Healing Pickup or destroy Hazard Idol
Note: Explosive Funguile triggers on nearby Hazard Idol but deals no damage to it
#09 Toadstomper
★★★★
One Hit Wonder!
    Easy steps:
  1. Use skill 5 times to charge up for 100% critical hit chance
  2. Dodge around and don't attack, try to clump up mobs together
  3. Use Golf Swing to kill the weakest mob (highest damage attack)
  4. Rinse and repeat if any mob still alive
  • Destroying Environmental Object with critical hit will also trigger the Overkill Damage
  • Try not to damage any mob to keep them full health for Pristine Gem bonus damage (total +120%)
  • Strong against mobs but weak against certain minibosses and most bosses, which is why Quetzi Waist Guard is needed.
  • Avoid choosing Power that deals damage on its own.
  • Bulbug Eyes can be used to deal with Bulbug, which is one of the weakness for this build.
#10 The Bam Bamboozle
★★★★★
At first, I was skeptical when I found this build, but after trying it out, its simplicity made it worked.
    Easy steps:
  1. use skill once to place Hazard Idol near enemy
  2. spam Light Attacks until Hazard Idol is destroyed
  3. move to next enemy
  4. rinse and repeat
However, with Gnarlic Head Stalk its a bit tricky:
  1. use skill once to place Hazard Idol slightly away from enemy but within your reach
  2. run into enemies first, then Hazard Idol
  3. rinse and repeat
#11 Antleer Set
★★★★
THE Destroyer build, must-destroy-everything definitely won't cause OCD
  • With Antleer Hide, stacking up to 100% Damage Resistance will make you invincible!
  • For stacking more damage bonuses, see #12 Windbreaker build
#12 Windbreaker
★★★★★
Very powerful and versatile, comfort build for learning Zero Dodge build
  • Must not press dodge button during Encounter (combat room), use Teleport instead
  • Make use of Teleport bonus damage and high Runspeed to deal damage
  • Ignore the alternative version
#13 The Gnarlic Runner
★★★★★
The most broken OP build!
  • You can use ANY Proto-Weapon, which let you unlock all Boss Weapons
  • If you did not get the Powers needed or having a bad run, simply abandon run to avoid breaking Proto-Weapon
  • Farm the Squash and cook the food for the bonus +20% Runspeed
  • Must not press dodge button during Encounter (combat room)
  • Make use of the high Runspeed to avoid damage
  • Bonejaw's Charge will trigger Gnarlic Head Stalk's Attack but sometimes may miss.
#14 Long Arm of the Claw
★★★★
NGL I don't like this weapon but its great 😑
  • Similar to #02 Heavy Focus Range
  • Need some practice on its Focus Hit: Light Attack and Multi-trust are easier
  • Pole Vault timing is very different than dodge timing
  • For Zero Dodge build, see #13 The Gnarlic Runner
#15 Cult of the Bulbin
★★★
Classic old build that make use of heavyweight (Power Class)
  • The idea is to spam dodge and light attack for quick multiple attacks
  • Splatshot is nice to pull and control mobs for melee attacks. And the skill also can knock the Striker mid-air for Focus Hit.
  • Basherball is also a good choice due to its healing skill
  • Applicable for Skullcrusher or any heavy weapon
  • For Barbed Pike, spam dodge and skill instead
#16 Healing Spinner
★★★★★
Another personal favorite with nice combinations: healing, damage and gaining Power
  • Pike of Peril is good for starting up Hit Streak
  • Basherball skill damage is same as Pike of Peril, but they can bounce around between enemies while channeling
  • With Ribbat Surcoat, when you take 50 damage or more, it will heal at least 10 hp and trigger the weapon's passive to deal damage.
#17 Team Healer
★★★
Not for solo player :(
#18 Lesser Funguile Stinger / Acid Healer
★★★★
This is the intro / entry-level for acid-based loadouts
    Easy steps:
  1. use Skill to create Acid Pool
  2. stand on Acid Pool and take 30 damage per tick
  3. each tick will spawn an Explosive Funguile
  4. lure enemy to Explosive Funguile for easy kill
  • Can be used in ANY stage, you can change to other weapon for The Molded Grave.
  • With Snortoise Helmet, you take 0 acid damage when health is below 30% and this also spawn bigger Explosive Funguile (it deal more damage when your health is low).
  • With Wollusk Helmet and Funguile Sailor Slacks, you take 30 acid damage but heal for more and you can heal indefinitely (though the Healing Pickup scatters randomly).
Acid Healer Calculation
  • With no Healing Gem: heal for 70% + 40% = 21hp + 12hp = 33hp
  • With x1 Healing Gem γ: heal for 77% + 44% = 24hp + 14hp = 39hp
  • With x2 Healing Gem γ: heal for 84% + 48% = 26hp + 15hp = 41hp
Note: for the heal amount, the decimals will round up for both healing instance, which resulted extra healing. Hence, it is more efficient to use only one Healing Gem.
#19 Greater Funguile Stinger
★★★★★
Improved version of Lesser Funguile Stinger
  • need Acid Protection Gem γ x2 to complete this build, which reduces Acid Damage to zero
  • With Wollusk Aketon, you can reduce Acid Damage by 30% but it cannot reduce to zero, yet good enough if you are leveling up the gems
  • Gloop Slimekit is convenient for faster dodge into next Acid Pool
  • Bonejaw Head Cage and Quetzi Waist Guard is good combination to upgrade powers and preparing for boss fight.
  • Anyhow, you can change Helmet and Legs to whatever you want, except for Snortoise Boots
#20 Parry Funguile & Acid Slayer (Boss Weapon)
★★★★★
I Parry Everything!
  • Applicable for its counterparts of other weapon type (that shared the same Skill)
  • For context below, Parry means successfully nullified an attack.
  • Parry will trigger Funguile Sailor Top's effect
  • Against enemy with range attack or keeping their distance, use Boarfrost Cloven Booties instead
  • Simply spam the Skill button, doing so considered as standing still for Colossapphire Greaves's effect
    Easy steps:
  1. spam the Skill button to Parry any incoming attack
  2. each Parry will spawn an Explosive Funguile
  3. dodge around to lure enemies to Explosive Funguile
  4. the low risk approach is to let Explosive Funguile deals damage for you
    Parry will not trigger:
  • Colossaphire Helmet (but still good as fail-safe)
  • Meowl Cowl
  • Bonejaw Breastplate
  • Boarfrost Mantle
  • Thorny Gem (or similar Power)

Acid Slayer (for The Molded Grave stage)
  • need Acid Protection Gem γ x2 (same idea as #19 Greater Funguile Stinger)
  • Acid can trigger Parry even if you take 0 damage from it
  • stand on acid and take 0 damage per tick
  • each tick spawns an Explosive Funguile
  • spam Skill button to Parry and make Explosive Funguile deals critical damage
  • 100% fool proof on The Molded Grave, just speedrun and rush to boss room
Team Play: if you have friend using Wollusk Hauberk (see #05 Acid Diver) or Stinger that can create Acid Pool, this build would work on other stages but you have to replace the gem with Corrosive Gem (+ Acid Protection Gem γ x2)
#21 Snarling Spear
★★★
The only build that sort of utilizing Hitstun
  • Spam Skill for the follow-up Heavy Attacks
  • With Groak's Best, Heavy Attack has more Hitstun
#22 Sporeshot
★★★★
  • Very unique and fun cannon playstyle
  • For Zero Dodge build, see #13 The Gnarlic Runner but basically you cannot use Heavy Attack.
    Basic Focus Hit:
  1. use the Skill 5 times to place 5 Mines
  2. shoot any amount, then reload
  3. after reload, your will always have 5 Focus Hit shots and no damage penalty
    Mining
  • When enemy coming near previously placed Mines, simply reload and place all Mines at where you are
  • When exploding Mine hit any enemy, you gain 1 Cannonball
  • When near an enemy, spam Skill button, you should be able to mine indefinitely, especially against idle enemy.
    Shockwave
  • press Dodge button, then Light Attack button
  • If your clip is NOT empty AND you have placed any Mine, then you will always damage yourself when performing Shockwave
  • So, always empty the entire clip before Shockwave.
    Rocket Ride
  • press Dodge button, then Skill button
  • If you just reloaded OR your clip has MORE THAN 3 shots, then you will always damage yourself when performing Rocket Ride
  • So, shoot at least once and make sure the buff is 16% or above (see below)
Bonus Tips: see the buff % to check remaining shots in the clip.
