🛠️ How to Transfer Your Save from Xbox Game Pass (PC) to Steam

Want to bring your progress from the Xbox Game Pass version of Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap over to Steam? It’s absolutely doable! Here's a quick and clear guide to help you migrate your save files manually. 🧠💾

📍 Step-by-Step Instructions

🔍 1. Locate Your Xbox Game Pass Save File

1. Press Win + R, type in:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages

2. Navigate to:
<orcsmustdie folder>/wgs/<bunch of numbers folder>

3. You'll see one or more folders with long numerical names (e.g., 0009000000F7...).

4. Open them until you find:
  • A folder with two files inside:
    • One file is just a long number (no extension)
    • The other is a container file

📦 2. Grab the Right File

  • Out of those two files, choose the one with the highest file size (usually in KB).
  • Copy that file somewhere safe.

📁 3. Find the Steam Save Folder

Go to your Steam save location:

<Your_Steam_Folder>\steamapps\common\Orcs Must Die Deathtrap\OMDD\Saved\SaveGames

(If it doesn’t exist yet, run the game once on Steam, then exit so the folder gets created.)

✏️ 4. Replace and Rename

  • Paste the Xbox Game Pass save file into the Steam save folder.
  • Rename it to:
PlayerProfile1.sav

✅ 5. Launch the Game

  • Boot up Deathtrap on Steam.
  • You should see your Game Pass progress right there!

🧠 Tips & Notes

  • Always back up your GamePass/Steam save file just in case.
  • If you see multiple Xbox save files, try the most recent or largest one first. There might be more than one if you have multiple profiles in the game.
  • This process works because both versions use the same save file structure — just stored in different locations.

Happy orc-slaying! 🪓💀

If you can't find the steam save file on step 3 try checking:
%LOCALAPPDATA% \Robot Entertainment\Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap\Saved\SaveGames\
