The settings I've used are shown in picture below.
The key is getting at 0 everything related to the sun and the strength of its bounce light; on the contrary, you can maximize shadowing and shadow clip.


You can also play around with the rain and fog setting(s).

You must keep the fog on, as I'll explain in the "visual bugs" section of this guide. As for rain, I feel like keeping it on gives more of an atmospheric vibe to the scene.

There are two main visual bugs with fog: you need it, otherwise it will look really bad.

DO NOT put its strength at 0.0.


I would say anything > 0.25 is good enough for the fake night effect to work.

The other visual bug happens in the unlockable area, that you unlock after you take all the photos in the day sunlight version of Fushimi Inari to get the rainy variant. This is how it'll look:


You can fix it by putting the fog strength at <= 0.03, but It can't be considered "night" anymore. So I would suggest to not take pictures there.
