Hassan is a follower you can unlock in Fate's Ledger for 20 Fate Points. When you place Hassan in Methinks, he immediately becomes involved in the "Poem" Ritual. Notable differences from Jenna's Jewelry Ritual is that his lasts for 3 days if you leave him- no savescumming which Ritual he rolls this way! Hassan randomly selects one of four different kinds of Poem when the Ritual is created, each one testing a different attribute. Hassan seems to have an equal chance 4 ways to roll any specific Poem.

The Ritual test is different per poem, the result determining what tier of Poem you receive, but you still add Inspiration to whichever attribute is rolled. Inspiration can be acquired on Hassan through placing him in any Ritual- including 0 day Rituals! You can place him the 'Foreign Merchant' event to collect rent, or collecting a Retainer in the Guesthouse to gain quick Inspiration on him.

The Bronze card "Rationality" grants Inspiration +20 and can be slotted in for a near guarantee of a Gold tier Poem.

The Ritual requires 5 Gold Coins and optionally "Special Items". I'm very unsure what, if anything unique, goes into that slot. See the "Special Items" section for more information. Additionally, you have to place 3 Intelligence cards. They can buff Hassan's attribute, and give him Rerolls. If his stats are high enough, you can 'dump' low tier cards that don't buff the attribute being tested, if you think you can get enough successes without the corresponding Intelligence card.

From my testing, each tier of Poem has one item you can craft. HOWEVER, each category of Poem has a Silver and Gold tier 'Special' poem that you can craft only once. I believe each Silver and Gold poem has an equal chance to be rolled, meaning until you craft the 'Special' poem in that category and tier, you have a 50% chance to craft it. You receive one Poem per check, based on Hassan's successes, with the following rarities:

0: The crafting fails, taking your 5 Gold Coins for nothing.
1-3: Stone
4-6: Bronze
7-9: Silver
10+: Gold


Note that when Hassan completes any Poem, his Inspiration returns to 0.

Epic Poems add Hassan's Wisdom+Inspiration to determine successes. Epic Poems typically raise both Wisdom and Sociability.


Stone Poem: "Interesting Epic" grants Wisdom +1.

Bronze Poem:"Extraordinary Epic" grants Wisdom +1 | Sociability +1.


Silver Poem: "Magnificent Epic" grants Wisdom +2 | Sociability +2.

Silver Special Poem: "Glories of Ages Past" grants Charisma +1 | Sociability +1 | Grants the "Noble" tag to the follower.

Gold Poem: "Torrents of History" grants Wisdom +3 | Sociability +3.

Gold Special Poem: "Providence" is a special item. You can use it on troops in a Rebellion route to instantly recruit any of the Sultan's troops once the Rebellion starts. I believe there are more places to use it, too.

Love Poems add Hassan's Charisma+Inspiration to determine successes. Love Poems raise only Charisma.


Stone Poem: "Curious Ghazal" grants Charisma +1.

Bronze Poem:"Wonderful Ghazal" grants Charisma +2.


Silver Poem: "Timeless Ghazal" grants Charisma +3.

Silver Special Poem: "Ludicrous Ghazal" is a special item. It allows you to use any follower in Carnality at Home without consequence, because it adds a temporary Passion +1.

Gold Poem: "In Praise of Love" grants Charisma +4.

Gold Special Poem: "Forgiving Ghazal" is a special item. You can use it to reduce Wife's Resentment once.

Revelatory Poems add Hassan's Magic+Inspiration to determine successes. Love Poems raise only Magic.


Stone Poem: "Magical Masnavi" grants Magic +1.

Bronze Poem:"Whispers From Nowhere" grants Magic +2.


Silver Poem: "Terrifying Echoes" grants Magic +3.

Silver Special Poem: "The Ancient Faith" is a special item. It's a Cult Conviction card of Silver tier.

Gold Poem: "The Great Darkness" grants Magic +4.

Gold Special Poem: "Roots of Darkness" grants Magic +3 | Grants the 'Black Art' tag to the follower, or +6 Magic if the follower already has the tag. If you don't already have 'Black Art' tag, you gain the "Sacrificial Ritual" card.

Satire Poems add Hassan's Stealth+Inspiration to determine successes. Satire Poems add a spread of stats in the following order: Combat, Stealth, Charisma, Sociability.

Stone Poem: "Alliterative Abuse" grants Combat +1.

Bronze Poem:"Ingenious Satire" grants Combat +1 | Stealth +1.


Silver Poem: "A Challenge in Verse" grants Combat +1 | Stealth +1 | Charisma +1.

Silver Special Poem: "Intent to Rebel" is a special item. It is a Rebellion Conviction card of Silver tier.

Gold Poem: "Astounding Sarcasm" grants Combat +1 | Stealth +1 | Charisma +1 | Sociability +1.

Gold Special Poem: "Universal Scorn" is a special item. You can use it to immediately win a duel, or use it as a an Intelligence card. There may be additional places to use it, as well.

[Space reserved for Special Items, if any. You can use the Special Items slot to use Intelligence to add to Hassan's rolls- including a stack of Intelligence to add a lot of bonuses!]

In addition to using Intelligence or a stack of Intelligence cards, you can slot in any 'permanent' item and add its corresponding attribute bonus without consuming it. For example, if Hassan is crafting a Satire (Stealth) poem, you can slot a 'Mechanical Ring' which grants Stealth +5 and get the ring back the next day.

I mostly created this guide to get rid of files saved locally, and to have a unified location to look at these. I forget which Poem grants the Rebellion Conviction all the time, so I hope this is useful for someone.

As a final reminder, each 'Special' poem can be crafted only once each.
