Advance through the story of Ion Hoshisaki.
Completing each episode unlocks new episodes for different characters.




Select a character and fight in a round-robin tournament against the computer.




Fight computer-controlled enemies in succession until you are defeated.




Battle with 1-4 players.

Character Selection Screen
Select player and enemy characters.

How to Select a Character
1. Select a character's window and press confirm.
2. Select a setting with up/down keys. Change it with left/right keys.
3. Press confirm to accept the character's settings.
4. Select other characters' settings in the same way.
5. Press start to continue to Battle Options.




Battle Options
Choose settings for battle.
Select a setting with up/down keys. Change it with left/right keys. Press Start key to begin battle.

  • Battle Stage
Select the stage for battle.
In the prologue only three stages are available.

  • Battle Music
Select background music for battle.

  • Battle Rules
Battle Royale…
Fight to the last character standing. No revival after being KO'd.
  • Point Battle…
Lose a point each time a team member is KO'd. First team to run out of points loses.

  • Points
Number of points for Point Battle.

  • Battle Length
Set the time limit. If time runs out, the team with the most points wins.

  • CPU Level
Set the computer's strength.

  • Friendly Fire
Determine whether team members can damage each other.
If ON, players will receive friendly fire damage,
if OFF they will not.

  • Return to Original Settings
Reset all settings.




Network Options Screen
  • Connection Settings:
Select the Host/Client.
  • IP Address:
Enter the IP Address you wish to connect to.
IP addresses entered previously or through the Config menu can be accessed from the "Select from List" menu.
  • Player ID:
Choose a player name.
  • Port Settings:
Select which port the game will attempt to connect through.
We recommend that only advanced users change this value.



Network Room Screen
You can view the Lobby Information window by pressing F1. Press F1 again to close the window.
Chat Window:
Type messages to other players.
Player Window:
View player information by selecting and confirming a player's name.




Select Formations and Skill Disks to be used.




Fight in a practice battle.
Settings are managed in the same way as Battle Mode.
Only the stage and music can be selected in Battle Options.

F1: Display damage values
F2: Reset damage values
F3: Fully charge drive gauges

How to play




1) Player character's name
2) Stamina Bar: Player character's remaining stamina
3) Magic Bar: Remaining magic that can be used for special actions
4) Over Drive Gauge: Increases when player attacks. When it is maxed out, Over Drive can be used
5) Chain Drive Gauge: Increases when player uses Formations. When maxed out Chain Drive can be used
6) Ultimate Symbol: Indicates that Ultimate Drive can be used. Appears when both Over Drive and Chain Drive are maxed out.
7) Current Formation: Name of player's current Formation.
8) Formation Gauge: Magibot stamina. Also consumed by changing Formation
9) Special Ability Display: Displays boosts from the current Formation. Formation Change possible when it is above 50%
10) Guard Power Gauge: Displayed during extended Guards. Depleted by attacks. If completely depleted, Guard Break occurs and player cannot use Guard for a short time.
11) Form Select: While pressing the key to issue orders to Magibots, use the camera control keys to select a Formation
12) Team Color: Player's team color
13) Attack Alert: Indicates the direction of incoming attacks
14) Target Display: Displayed for enemies who are Locked-on
15) Other Character Gauges: Displays the name, Stamina Bar, Magic Bar, Over Drive Gauge, Chain Drive Gauge, Formation Gauge, and Team Color of other characters
16) Character Overhead Gauge: Displays Team Color, Stamina, and name
17) Time: Displays the time limit
18) Radar: Displays the edges of the stage, enemy players' locations, direction, and Magibot location
19) Point Display: Shows each team's Points during Point Battle





  • Close menu
  • Restart
  • Return to Battle Settings
  • Return to Title

At any time you may press ESC to end the game



You can play the music of your choice during battle.
  • Any wave file can be used.
  • Put desired files in the BGM folder in the MBF-PR.exe folder.











  • Magibots are partner units that provide various effects when arranged in a group.
  • Formation Change is possible when the Formation Gauge is above 50%
  • Defense is raised by varying amounts when a Formation is active
  • You can configure up to three Formations on the Form Settings screen






Various abilities can be boosted by equipping Skill Disks.
  • Attack Charge Up: Charge Attack charges faster
  • Force Charge Up: Charge Force charges faster
  • Overdrive Gauge Up: Over Drive Gauge rises faster
  • Mighty Formation: Formations last longer






Configuration settings


Graphic Quality : Adjust the graphical effects that will be used.
Load Settings : Load a text file of previous settings.
Save Settings : Assign a name and export settings as a text file.
Output Data : Export a text version of system information for customer support.



Rumblepad : Allows rumble feature in some scenes. *XBOX controllers only.
Screen Shake : Allows screen shake in some scenes.
Radar Type : Stationary : Fix the direction for the entire stage.
Rotating : Rotate camera along with player movement.
Camera Position : Move the camera left and right.
Auto Adjust Guard : Automatically Guard in the direction of Locked-on characters.
Camera Adjustment : Set the direction for camera rotation when moving side to side.
Auto Lock-on : Determine which enemies to prioritize during Lock-on.
Camera Sensitivity : Set the sensitivity for camera rotation when moving side to side.



Set gamepad and keyboard controls.



Screen Size : Set the game dimensions.
HDR : Applies a shine effect to very bright areas.
Shadows : Adds shadows to the stage and characters.
Tracing : Set the quality of the tracing.
Full-screen : Change to Full Screen mode. May vary depending on resolution.
Bump Mapping : Applies a bump effect to textures.
Specular Reflection : Applies a light-reflecting effect to textures.
Diffuse Reflection : Applies a diffusion effect to atmospheric light.
Depth of Field : Applies a blur effect to distant objects.
Camera Blur : Applies a blur effect to moving objects.
FXAA : Smoothes edges.
Volumetric Lighting : Shows filtered light



Voices On :Turn voices ON or OFF.
Music Volume : Change the music volume.
SE Volume :Change the volume of sound effects.
Voice Volume :Change the volume of voices.




  • Shared Settings

Key Response : Change settings for key response during network play.
*Only Room Host may change this
PORT : Indicates port to connect to.
*In most cases this should not be changed.
  • IP Settings

ID : Enter the player name to be used with the designated IP address.
IP List : Enter the IP address you wish to connect to.
Allow/Deny IP List: Enter IP addresses you would like to allow or deny to connect.
*You may use an asterisk to indicate a range of addresses.



Manage Replay data.
Up to 30 files allowed.
If more than 30 exist, older files will be overwritten automatically.
Check "Lock" to prevent files from being overwritten.



You can assign Radio Chat messages to F1 through F12.
Send to All : If you uncheck this, messages will only be sent to team members.
