Set Refresh Rate to 90Hz
Choose 120Hz ONLY IF you have a really high-end system.

You could technically play less demanding games at a higher refresh rate, but for a consistently smoother overall experience, it's recommended to choose 90Hz.
Render resolution
Stay at 100%. 100% resolution is basically native for the PSVR2.
This gives you the sharpest possible image without oversampling. If you have a strong GPU, you should just leave it at 100%. Looks amazing, but it does ask a lot from your PC.

If your system can't handle it, try using 68%
68% resolution is kind of the sweet spot if you're running mid-range card.

It lowers the render load a ton and you still get a clean image. Honestly, the visual difference is tiny unless you’re pixel peeping, but the frame rate and smoothness are WAY better.

How to change resolution settings
  • Open SteamVR.
  • Go to Settings ➔ Video.
Here are my advanced settings I use as of 2025/06/08 (120hz because of the AMD driver issue, for more info read down below):
Disable HAGS (Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling)
Should I disable HAGS ??
If you do not have any problems listed bellow, you can keep it as it is = ON.

How to Disable HAGS (Windows)
  • Open Windows Settings ➔ System ➔ Display ➔ Graphics Settings.
  • Under Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, set it to Off.
  • Restart your PC to apply the change.
HAGS can cause:
  • Random stutters.
  • Frame drops.
  • Micro-hitching (tiny freezes).
  • Driver conflicts

WIN11 PATH:
Set VR Server to Efficiency Mode for FPS Gains
Really affective if your CPU is bottlenecking.

For better performance, especially on systems with limited resources, you can manually set the VR Server process to run in Efficiency Mode via Task Manager. This helps improve FPS and reduce background resource usage.

Steps:
  • Launch Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Find the VR Server process.
  • Right-click on it, and select Go to details.
  • Right-click the details and choose Set priority.
  • Set it to Efficiency Mode.

Also, make sure your game is High priority in the task manager. Helps by a lot for me !!
AMD ONLY* AMD Adrenalin Performance and Fan Tuning
If you’re using an AMD GPU, you can get even more FPS and stability by fine-tuning performance and cooling settings in AMD Adrenalin. Currently AMD GPU's have an issue on VR where the whole card performance is not used fully without fan adjustments.

Steps to enable manual tuning and fan control:
  • Open AMD Adrenalin software.
  • Go to Performance ➔ Performance Tuning.
  • Turn on Manual Tuning.
  • Enable Fan Tuning.
  • Under Advanced Fan Control, adjust the fan curves correctly avoiding damaging the GPU with too low fan speeds per temperature. If not sure what you're doing, check Youtube!!

AVOID OVERCLOCKING THE GPU - can cause performance issues.
EXTRA: VR Performance Toolkit
vrperfkit is a tool that boosts performance in VR games. It helps improve framerates and makes gameplay smoother, especially on lower-end PCs.

Here is a video for how to use it and what it does:

Thanks To Virtual Panic for the tutorial video !!
EXTRA: UEVR set up for PSVR2
UEVR (Universal EyeVR) is a modding tool that lets you play flat-screen PC games in virtual reality.
If you want to try it here's the video of how to use it:

Thanks to PSVR Underground for creating a tutorial video for it !!

EXTRA: Controller tracking issues
If your Sense controllers are acting weird (not tracking properly, input lag, random disconnects), the fix is super simple (IF DRIVERS UPDATED, INSTALLED):

Steps:
  • Open Windows Settings ➔ Bluetooth & devices.
  • Find the PSVR2 controllers in the list.
  • Remove (delete) them.
  • Put the controllers into pairing mode again.
  • Re-pair them with Windows.

This refreshes the Bluetooth connection and usually solves weird tracking issues immediately.
If not, try checking drivers, Windows optional updates and google with your specific hardware.
EXTRA: Black screen while setting up
Getting a black screen when setting up PSVR2 on PC? Here's the quick fix:

Check your USB port version!

PSVR2 needs USB 3.0 connection !!

You must connect your PlayStation®VR2 PC adapter directly to the USB port on your PC. Do not use an extension cable or USB hub, as it may cause it to malfunction.

Try plugging into a different USB port.
AMD EXTRA: AMD Adrenalin Driver 25.5.1, 25.6.1 #UPDATE
AMD 25.5.1 drivers breaks VR for PSVR2. You'll get flat-screen through lenses.
You need to either download older version, i.e. : 25.4.1 or wait for a fix from AMD themselves.
UPDATE: If you use 120 HZ the problem is solved + you will have the latest drivers.

my bad DEDE, it's set priority not affinity!! guide is updated as of now. Thanks for letting me know.
DEDE1973 26 Jun @ 9:43am
When I clicked the set affinity, I couldn’t find the “efficiency mode” as you mentioned. The options I have are All processors or CPU 0, 1,2….,11

HAGS is a Windows setting, for Win11 you have to:
Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics -> Advanced Graphic Settings
I added photo for Win11, how it should look in HAGS part.

Very cool guide. Thanks for adding my suggestion to it :D
HAGS isn't available for everyone though. Seems like my 6800 XT doesn't have it, thus i am missing the option. Nothing to worry though.

No problem, I'll try to update it once in a while so everyone can see everything related to performance, settings in one place.
