KNS Inebu DD8-36

The Inebu is slightly different from KNS Lacus with the 45mm AAG-11 initially removed in favor of the new ASM-3 which is a new dedicated depth charge and decoy launcher. The navy is using the ship to trial new decoy measures in hopes of improving the survivability of their destroyers. Initially the ship was fitted with two sets of ASM-3. Testing of the ship's original configuration proved suboptimal against aircrafts. The Naval Advisory Board saw a capacility gap when it came to fleet air defense. To address the issue, the 45mm gun was placed back in the ship and instead the torpedo launchers were removed in favor of four ASM-3 launchers. The Naval Advisory Board determined that the Solaventus-class was sufficient for anti-submarine and surface action in the immediate future and sought the Inebu to pioneer systems for anti-aircraft warfare. As such KNS Inebu had all its torpedoes removed in favor of more counter measures. This was a proposed solution the Naval Advisory Board wanted to test out in the next class of destroyers but to avoid investing in a dead end design, some of the ideas was decided to be trialled on the KNS Inebu. The result far exceeded expectations with far fewer guns necessary for anti-air duties than initially expected. This had led to revisions on the next class od destroyers to try and combine both the powerful torpedo armament of the Solaventus class with the anti-air and survivability of the Inebu.
