Description
What is this?

This mod adds new fuel mechanics. You can refill all vehicles with Gasoline and HomemadeFuel (made from VegetableOil), change how much gas vehicles consume and drain fuel from GasPumps. You can now buy jerry cans from communities through dialogue.

You can also store gasoline and refuel vehicles from Gas Pumps directly, which makes having a base centered around gas stations slightly more interesting.

Requires starting a new game, or to load a new map with Hit The Road.

Features
  • Fuel any vehicle with Gasoline or Homemade Fuel. Cars can't be fueled with VegetableOil anymore.
  • Drain Gasoline from Gas Pumps at Gas Stations.
  • Build Fuel Tanks to store Gasoline or Homemade Fuel.
  • Buy Gasoline Jerry Cans from communities. These are spawned every 2 days in their buildings for them to sell.
  • Make Homemade Fuel from Vegetable Oil and Industrial Chemicals.
  • Fuel efficiency is tied to the type of vehicle. Big cars will consume more fuel than smaller ones. For example, HumVees consume 2x more fuel.
  • Adds visible model for the JerryCan and adds a new equipment called SmallGasCan.
  • Changes Gasoline and VegetableOil prices.

Recipes
  • Build Fuel Tank. Requires Construction Skill 3 + 2 SteelIngot + 2 Wood.
  • Make Biofuel (HomemadeFuel). Requires Construction Skill 4 + Still + 50 Water + 50 Vegetable Oil + 2 Industrial Chemicals => 50 HomemadeFuel.

Settings
The settings file can be found in the mod's folder under "Settings_FuelOverhaul.xml".
  • GlobalGasConsumptionRate. The rate at which vehicles consume gas. (default 1.0 = no effect)
  • MaxJerryCansPerCommunity. How many jerry cans can spawn at communities for them to sell every 'X' days. (default 4)
  • DaysBetweenCommunityFuelSpawn. The amount of days between jerry can spawns at communities. (default 2). You can make it lower (for example 0.5) to make them spawn every half day.
  • VehicleGasConsumptions. The list of gas consumption rates per vehicle type.
  • VehicleFuels. The list of fuels accepted per vehicle type. Not yet supported.

Could contain bugs, so report any issues in the comments section.

Compatibility
Shouldn't have any incompatibilities.

Yeah. I had to give that up.

I made some extra changes after that. Now both tanks are the same size, and have increased capacity.
Made both 2x3 and can fit 50000oz, which is around 1500liters based on the size of the tank.
In exchange, they cost more materials and take longer to build.

I liked these tanks so much that I also tried making a few more types. For Water, Oil, and Vodka. But NPCs don't seem to be using them to store stuff.
A bit of a shame, it would have been cool to make more tanks and also Silos to store non-bottlñe liquids like sugar, gunpowder and saltpeter and have NPCs drop the stuff in them.

Those are awesome changes :) Props can unfortunately only hold the liquid defined in their prototype xml file ( atleast as far as I have looked)

I also tried to removed the liquid type from the tanks as I thought it was a bit of a waste to have these cool tanks just for fuel, thinking that would allow any type of liquid inside. But that seems to crash game.

I was cheking this mod in the Editor to make some tweaks and found out one has inventoryweight set to 30 and the other doesn't. You may want to know.

I also found the industrial chemicals to be too much of a bottleneck to make the biofuel useful.
So I checked out how to make biofuel, and all you need is pretty much alcohol and fat, and a catalyst like lye.

So I made lye and alcohol, and added a recipe to Distill Alcohol out of vodka, and a recipe to make wood ash, and a recipe to make lye with ash and water.
Then another recipe to make the 50 HomemadeFuel out of 50 oil, 1 lye, and 5 alcohol.
Also made a recipe to make 5 bandages with 5 rags and 5 alcohol as a bonus.

@Dababa007 @Dedlock420 thanks! I thought it might have been an error only ocurring on the main branch. I think that warning didn't exist before (not sure), but It's just informative so it won't cause any harm in this case

I don't remember the exact words but it basically warns that the mod is meant for the latest beta build so I just installed the beta version for it, it ran fine except the refilling issue but I think it could be sorted by starting a new game as you said before

Seems this also needs to be ran on the beta build. I got a warning when trying to start a new story on the main build.
