Before You Go Anywhere
First Things First
Increase the length of your day. From the Settings menu, you can increase the duration of the day.
Choosing Your Starter Blob
  • For an easy start, I recommend choosing the magma-type blob. Here are some relevant points.
    • The other 2 types are more easily obtainable.
      • You get a storm-type blob egg in the mailbox on day 3 (as of EA 0.906), and you can encounter them when fishing.
      • For a forest-type, you can buy a bunny blob egg at the first festival.
    • Magma-type is the most relevant offensively early-game, as it is effective vs forest-type blobs. You will have an advantage over the majority of the resident NPCs, since the majority have forest-type blobs, and the first blob world is predominantly forest-type blobs.
    • One downside is that magma-type blobs are weak against storm-type, so fishing can be challenging. However, fast blobs will lessen this effect by attacking and defeating blobs before being attacked.
  • The forest-type blob is another option, recommended by PinkGeeRough. Here are some relevant points.
    • Forest-type blobs are the best defensively early-game, as it is only weak to magma-type attacks, which are scarce early-game.
    • They are great for fishing blob battles.
    • The downside is that forest-type blobs are the easiest to get early on (e.g. the bunny blob egg at the first festival).
Don't Say I Didn't Warn You!
  • Do not chop down all the trees on your farm. Some forageables only spawn under fully-grown trees. See The World Around You > Resources for more info.
  • Don't miss the shooting star nights! Ore and star shards drop from the sky. See Priorities > Wishing Stars for more info.
  • Don't miss the first Painted Eggs festival on day 4 of the first week of the game. See Festivals section for more info.
Good to Know
  • You pass out at 12am. You get sent home and your energy is not refilled, but you still wake up at 8am and your blobs’ health and energy ARE restored.
  • Expect to eat a lot to refill your energy. Forageables: wild raspberries (Solis) > apples. In Ceres switch to yellow mushrooms. Crop: tomatoes. Battle rewards: cold soda from battling Jasper and the Souvenir Vendor in the Blob League building.
  • The first 2 blob eggs you hatch + your starter blob are your blob team until you build a blob barn. See Priorities > Blob Barn for more info.
  • You can move nature (e.g. rocks, shrubs, trees, etc.) on your farm from your workbench. Pro-tip: Move things out of the way for now and destroy them later when you have more energy and/or better tools.
Priorities
Fast Travel
  • Interact with the fast travel signposts around the map to unlock them.
  • There are 7 signposts (+1 in Frigus).
  • You can also save your game at these signposts.
Meet NPCs
  • Befriending NPCs will give you skill points. Spend them on the Skills tab for in-game benefits. See Player Skills for more info.
  • Meet Charoi to get your pickaxe and axe. Check her house in the NE corner of town.
  • Meet Carnelian at the General Store (closed day 2s) in Clover Town Square for the shipping box.
  • Meet Garnet to get the fishing rod. Check the top of the pier at the beach.
  • Meet Emerald for the bug net. Check the lake by the Center Tree in Clover Valley.
First Backpack Upgrade
  • The first backpack upgrade costs 2000 coins at Carnelian's General Store.
Blob Toys
  • The main way to increase a blob's energy max is with blob toys. (You can also use Health/Energy Boosters for one-time increases.)
  • Once each day, you can play with a blob with the toy it craves that day to permanently increase its energy by 1.
  • Two of the 5 toys are available from Flint at the start, the tennis ball and shuttlecock for 1500 coins each.
  • See Getting to Know Your Blob > Blob Heatlh and Energy for more info.
Blob Barn
  • Until you build a blob barn, you are stuck with your starter blob and the first 2 blob eggs you hatch.
  • To get the blob barn blueprint, you first must meet Flint. Then, some morning in week 2 or later, he will appear at your tent and give you the blob barn (small) blueprint for free. (If he doesn't show up, try starting and/or completing other intro quests.)
  • It takes 50 fibre and 50 wood to build one.
  • A small blob barn houses 4 blobs, and the first time you enter a blob barn, Jade will give you a free cow blob.
  • Now you can hatch more blob eggs, change up your team of blobs, and store surplus blobs with Flint.
Wishing Stars
  • Feeding a wishing star to an enemy blob during battle guarantees it will drop an egg.
  • You need a furnace and 5 star shards to make 1 wishing star.
  • You can make a furnace at your workbench for 10 coal, 5 copper ore, and 50 stone.
  • You can get star shards and copper ore on a shooting stars night. During the event window, 8pm-11pm, star shards and ore fragments will fall from the sky wherever you are. You have until midnight to collect them. I recommend being on your farm.
  • The best use is for a turtle blob (fish in the ocean for a blob battle), which can water your crops. Another good choice is a rock blob, found in the mine, for help tilling soil.
Build Friendship with Jasper
  • Jasper's friendship line unlocks the steamboard. Vroom!!
  • Battling Jasper gives cold soda as a reward, which is an excellent cost-effective option for energy replenishment.
  • Jasper is the only NPC resident with a magma-type blob, which is super helpful as an ally for the first blob world.
Getting to Know Your Blob
Blob Power
  • Blobs have 3 main stats: attack, defense, and speed.
  • A blob's power (or "level") is the total of these 3 stats.
  • To increase a blob's power, you must use its skills.
  • Blobs have 4 skill slots but only gain additional skills through breeding. (No base blob (Gen 1) has more than 3 skills.)
  • Each skill is linked to one of the 3 main stats. Using that skill increases the percentage of the yellow bar. When the bar reaches 100%, at the end of that battle, that stat will increase by 1. (The percentage increase seems to be based on the total power of ally blobs alive vs. the total power of enemy blobs alive. Credit: PinkGeeRough)
Blob Health and Energy
  • Blobs also have health and energy meters.
  • You can permanently increase these maxes by feeding them Health/Energy Boosters and by fulfilling a blob's daily cravings: 3 random foods and 1 toy.
  • Feeding a blob a craved food increases its health permanently.
  • Interact with the blob with its craved toy to play a mini-game. You need to beat the mini-game once to increase its energy permanently by 1.
  • There are a total of 5 toys. Two are sold by Flint. Two can be bought with event tickets at the Founder's Day Festival at the end of Solis. And the final toy can be purchased for coins at the Weather Day Festival in Ceres.
  • There also are Health and Energy Boosters that you can feed your blob to permanently increase its health or energy.
Blob Mutations
  • Blobs can have up to 3 mutations.
  • A mutation makes the blob immune to a specific status effect: poison, confusion, sleep, silence, or blind.
  • Base blobs (Gen 1) never have mutations.
  • Gen 2 and on can have mutations.
  • The main way to get mutations is through breeding blobs.
  • Any brood egg can hatch into a blob with mutations.
Blob Abilities
  • Some blobs have an ability that can be used outside of battle.
  • There are some early-game blobs with abilities that will help with farming. Turtle blobs can water crops and rock blobs can till soil. See Farming for more info.
  • There are also some production blobs of note.
    • hen blob (buy from Jade) > eggs: used for cooking, turned into cream with mixer
    • cow blob (1 free with first blob barn, buy from Jade) > milk: used for cooking, turned into cheese with mixer
    • sheep blob (buy from Flint) > yarn: used in furniture
    • pig blob (buy from Flint) > meat: used in cooking
Blob Breeding
See PinkGeeRough's Breeding Guide for info on breeding.
The World Around You
Resources
  • Forageables spawn on the first day of each week.
    • Three different forageables randomly spawn under FULLY-GROWN trees. (These differ by season.)
    • Oysters respawn on the beach year-round.
    • During Solis and Ceres, sunflowers/wheat spawn in the field by Jade & Ruby's farm and wheat in the fields by the windmill on the train station section of the map.
    • During Solis and Ceres, apples grow on the trees by Jade & Ruby's farm.
  • All the nature features (trees, rocks, bushes, etc.) respawn each season, EXCEPT on your farm.
  • There is only 1 type of tree in the game. When you're next to a fully-grown one, you can't see the top of the tree. See image.
Blobs Around Town
  • Blobs encountered around Clover Town (e.g. fishing, mines), including in eggs obtained from NPCs, have power levels based on your World Blob Power.
  • The Progress > General tab in the in-game menu shows your World Blob Power.
  • Your World Blob Power goes up each blob league tournament you win. See Clover Cup Tournament for more info.
Player Skills
  • You gain skill points from improving your friendships with NPCs.
  • Spend your skill points on the Skills tab in the in-game menu.
Good Skills
  • Energy Costs discounts for the axe and pickaxe (2pts each). These are my top choices.
    • You'll want to collect a lot of wood, stone, and fibre, so the axe and pickaxe energy discounts are super helpful.
  • Botanist (2pts): Gives crop and tree growth info from the workbench.
    • This helps with timing crop harvests and identifying the type of crop.
    • It's also oddly helpful to make sure growing trees have enough room to actually grow. (Trees seem to need progressively more surrounding space while growing compared to fully-grown trees.)
  • Battle Analysis (2pts): During a battle, it shows the type and power level of enemy blobs. The info appears after you've selected a skill to use and are picking a target.
    • This is super helpful as you're figuring out which blobs are which type.
    • I also like knowing the power levels to see if the battle is winnable/worth it and to decide the order of blobs to target.
Not Useful in the Long Run
A couple of the energy cost discounts aren't helpful long-term due to future blob abilities.
  • Watering can: You'll want to get a turtle blob asap for watering your crops, so this benefit will not be helpful long-term. However, until you get that turtle blob, you do water each crop every day. Up to you.
  • Hoe: You can get a rock blob (mine) for tilling plots relatively early in the game, and you don't do this daily, so I wouldn't spend skill points here.
  • Planting: In the third blob world, Candy Kingdom, you can get a dog blob that plants seeds.
Just Say No
Two energy cost discounts aren't worth it.
  • Fishing rod: Casting the rod costs 10 energy; a discount of 1 is minimal.
  • Bug net: Catching bugs is mainly pointless. Leave this skill pointless.
Farming
  • Crops that take 4/5/6 days yield 1/2/3 crops per harvest. Flowers take 4 days and yield 4 flowers each.
  • Scarecrows are needed to protect your crops. Unprotected crops have a chance of being eaten by a butterfly or crow blob. While you lose the crop, you can battle the blob.
  • Farming is super energy intensive, but fortunately, there are some blobs that can help. Once you have a wishing star, get these 2 blobs from the wild. (Without a wishing star, there is a 2% chance of an egg drop.) See Priorities > Wishing Stars for more info.
    1. Turtle blobs: They can water crops. Fish in the ocean to battle these. See Fishing for info on encounters.
    2. Rock blobs: They can till soil. They can be found in the mine.
  • When using crop-related blob abilities, I use a group of plots 4 wide by 3 tall. It's the largest area easily selected.
  • This grouping works well with the range of a scarecrow. Four quadrants surrounding a scarecrow (8 wide by 6 deep) is nice and tidy.
  • Another blob of note is the tree blob found in first blob world. Its ability advances tree growth. I find clusters of 3 trees work well with their range and tree spacing.
In the Future
  • You get a Sprinkler[ovamagica.wiki.gg] blueprint after defeating the second blob world. Sprinklers cover a 5x5 range. I don't use these, so consult the wiki.
  • Eventually there will be blobs that help with planting (dog blobs in third blob world) and fertilizing (poop blobs in the sewers, not available until Frigus).

Fishing
Important: When fishing, the line STAYS cast until you choose to reel it in.
  • When you cast your rod, you spend 10 energy regardless of whether it lands in water or not.
  • Once the line is cast into water, wait until a symbol appears by the bobber. You can then reel in the catch, or if you don't like the type of catch, wait, and another symbol will appear in a few.
  • The two catch symbols are:
    • black exclamation point = a single item reward
    • red jagged exclamation point = a blob battle
  • In a blob battle, the # of enemy blobs equals the # of blobs traveling with you. If you win, you get one reward per enemy. If all your blobs die, you do pass out and get sent home, ending your day.
  • Recommendation: Due to the high energy cost, only fish for blob battles. (Fishing costs double the energy of every other activity.)
Cooking
I Made It Myself
  • You do all your cooking at a campfire and there's a free one on the Beach.
  • Early-game, don't make your own campfire. Use the free one on the beach and spend your resources on other projects.
  • Skip the fillet table entirely. (Fish fillets aren't critical for anything, and eventually, in Frigus, they are commonly a reward from fishing in the ocean.)
Eating Out
  • You can eat a meal at the Restaurant, Beer Garden, and eventually Beachside Eatery.
  • Ordering a dish feeds your entire party of blobs. This meal can satisfy blob cravings and trigger health increases. Pro-tip: Take advantage of matching blob cravings to increase the health of multiple blobs with one order.
  • Some recipes are only served in specific seasons. There is a season icon by the dish name.
  • You learn a recipe the first time you order a dish and can cook it at the campfire thereafter. There is a recipe icon on the dish name for unlearned recipes.
  • Pro-tip: If you order the seasonal dishes, you learn the recipe and can cook it yourself year-round.
Festivals
  • Prepare for festivals ahead of time (i.e. check the wiki). Most festivals have unique opportunities (e.g. blob toys for sale, winnable blobs) that you won't want to miss.
  • Save your game BEFORE entering the festival area for redo purposes.
  • Talk to NPCs before and after the festival's main activity; you receive friendship points both times.
  • Talk to the NPCs' blobs for some cute and funny dialogue.
Painted Eggs Festival - Solis W1 D4
  • This festival is SUPER important for future blob breeding and production!
  • Festival checklist:
    1. Make room in your bag! You need at least 1 empty space before you start the egg hunt.
    2. Gather at least 15 painted eggs in the hunt.
    3. Buy the Colored Eggs blueprint from Carnelian for 5 painted eggs.
    4. Save at least 10 painted eggs.
    5. When you build a blob barn, place 10 colored egg decorations (one painted egg each) in it for max happiness effect.
  • In a blob barn, decorations are important for blob happiness, which factors into breeding and production. The options for barn decorations are very limited and expensive, especially in mass, so this is a HUGE opportunity to take advantage of.
  • Tips for the egg hunt:
    • Recommended goal = 40 eggs = 5 (blueprint) + 15 (bunny blob) + 20 (for decorations for x2 blob barns)
    • Search methodically!
    • Skip some of the single eggs at the ends of the passageways.
    • Pass between the blocking NPCs and their blobs.
    • Be sure to go to Lapis and Lazuli's house and Charoi's workshop.
    • There are no eggs in the entry area with the side-character NPCs.
    • Below is a map of my optimized path that collects 50 eggs. Start at the S and follow the arrows, ending back in the center for the 11 (of 15 total) eggs remaining in the center. The blue paths are for eggs-tra credit. My record is 54 eggs with 6 secs to spare.
Founder's Day - Solis W5 D4
  • BEFORE the day of the event, donate 20 clovers to the booth in Clover Town Square to earn a Clover blob egg at the event.
  • SAVE before the festival for redos! This is a ONCE-IN-A-YEAR opportunity to buy 2 of the 5 blob toys. You need to win/collect tickets to buy the basketball and toy hammer for 55 tickets each. Do and redo your best to buy both! Pro-tip: Start with Charoi's hammer game; it has a disproportionate ticket payout. If you don't win a lot of tickets, restart the festival then.
Weather Day - Ceres W3 D4
  • Buy the stacking rings blob toy for 1500 coins.
Blob Banquet - Ceres W5 D4
  • Start preparing for this festival early.
  • You need 4 cooked dishes with a variety (10+) of ingredients.
  • You don't need to cook each dish you submit.
  • I have won all the prizes, including the first year, with 4 dishes that contained a total of 10 different ingredients.
  • Example:
    1. Blob Island Cocktail: fishing blob battle reward
    2. Apple Pie: battle Jade
    3. Homemade Lemonade: battle Flint
    4. Spaghetti - recipe from eating at The Restaurant
      • egg: hen blob or battle Coral or James
      • meat: pig blob or battle Kurt
      • tomato: grow
Clover Cup Tournament
  • The blob league building is where the tournaments are held.
  • Register at the desk for your first tournament. (I forget what events are needed to unlock the tournament.)
  • Use the doors on the second floor for battles.
  • You need to win 5 qualifying battles to unlock the tournament itself.
  • You can only complete one league battle or the tournament each day.
  • Winning the tournament will increase your World Blob Power, which sets the levels of blobs found in the wild and obtained from NPCs.
  • The Progress > General tab in the in-game menu shows your World Blob Power.
  • To register in subsequent tournaments, you need increasingly higher NPC friendship levels.

Blob Worlds
Let Me In!
  • Blob worlds can be accessed through the Ruin ONLY after buying membership to the Adventurer's Club. (Try to enter the ruins, and after a cutscene, you will receive the task from Coral.)
  • Each visit requires a rune, and you can visit one blob world each day.
  • You can buy more runes from Harold, the bartender, at the Adventurer's Club or find them in crates in the blob world itself.
  • One NPC and their blob can accompany you each visit. You gain friendship points with the NPC and their blob battles alongside you. Unlike your blobs, its health and energy levels reset every battle. Its level is whatever level it has in the main game. Tip: Battle NPCs daily to improve your blob world ally. Ruby and Daisy are available from the start; otherwise, NPCs become available as companions as your friendships improve.
Navigating a Blob World
  • Each blob world consists of three stages and a boss stage. Each stage has blobs within certain power levels, which go up with each stage.
  • Explore the various rooms to find the one with the portal to the next stage. Here are some of the special room types marked with icons on the map:
    • Spiral = contains portal to enter the next stage
    • Pickaxe = contains ore mounds to mine
    • Fishhook = can fish here for fish or blob battles (same set of blobs that appear in rooms/corridors)
    • Person = contains a campfire where you can cook dishes using ingredients from your magical storage
    • Puzzle Piece = contains a puzzle to solve that unlocks a treasure chest (time is paused while you're physically on the puzzle)
    • Treasure Chest = battle all the groups of blobs in the room to unlock the treasure chest
  • The boss stage consists of one room with a boss battle. Time is paused while on this stage.
  • If you defeat the boss, you can collect a brood egg of the boss, open some treasure chests, and can exit through a portal back to the Ruin.
  • Pro-tip: Use puzzle rooms to replenish your energy and blobs' health and energy, since time is paused while standing on the puzzle.
Let Me Out!
  • On your first visit, you are given a return wand that you can use at any time to leave the blob world.
  • If you defeat the boss, a portal back to the Ruin becomes accessible.
  • If you successfully exit the blob world, you gain additional friendship points with an accompanying NPC.
  • Otherwise, if midnight rolls around or if all your blobs (including any ally blob) die during any battle, you pass out and, as usual, wake up the next morning at home without your energy being restored. (Your blobs' health and energy levels are still restored.)
First Blob World Tips
  • After your first visit to the blob world, you receive a brood egg from Flint. The brood egg is hard-coded (no randomization). It is a magma-type with one mutation and four skills, making it excellent breeding material. Spoiler image in blank space below.

  • Take healing herbs (foraged in Solis) and oysters (found year-round on the beach) to treat the poison and blind status effects found in the first blob world.
  • Befriend Jasper to accompany you. Jasper is the only NPC with a magma-type blob and the Mystic Forest is primarily forest blobs.
  • You can chop the lamps for light spores, which are needed for building costs.
More Tips
  • The second blob world, Pirate Island, only has the blind status effect, so take oysters and/or wormwood (foraged in Ceres) with you.
  • If you're trying to level up your blobs, don't take an NPC with you. The NPC ally's blob will dilute the skill experience you receive.
