🧢 Team Fortress 2 Beginner Guide – How to Play, Survive, and Meme Like a Pro

Welcome to Team Fortress 2 — Valve’s legendary free-to-play class-based shooter where:

- The guns are loud
- The hats are expensive
- And the memes are eternal

This guide is for anyone who's just installed TF2 and wants to figure out how not to die instantly (and maybe even top the scoreboard).

🎮 What Is TF2?

- 9 unique classes
- Multiple game modes (Payload, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, etc.)
- Objective-focused team combat
- Skill, teamwork, and dumb luck all matter equally

💡 “It’s like Overwatch, but with more explosives and fewer ult voice lines.”

🧠 Meet the 9 Classes

| Class | Role | Difficulty |
|--------------|------------------|-------------|
| Scout | Fast, hit & run | Medium |
| Soldier | Rocket launcher guy | Easy-Medium |
| Pyro | Burn everything | Easy |
| Demoman | Sticky traps/explosions | Medium |
| Heavy | Big health, big gun | Easy |
| Engineer | Builds stuff | Medium-Hard |
| Medic | Heals and Ubercharge | Easy-Hard |
| Sniper | Headshot hero | Hard |
| Spy | Sneaky stabby boi | Very Hard |

💡 Start with Soldier or Heavy if you want to learn safely and deal big damage.

📦 Game Modes You Should Try First

- Payload – Push or stop the bomb cart. Classic and chaotic.
- King of the Hill (KOTH) – Fight for control of a central point.
- Capture the Flag (CTF) – Good for casual fun, but usually chaos.
- Training Mode – Yes, it exists. Yes, you should try it.

🛠️ Basic Tips for Not Dying Instantly

  • Stick with your team
  • Don’t chase Spies into spawn
  • Don’t run in alone as Scout vs 3 Heavies
  • Use voice chat or at least call for Medic (default: E)
  • Switch classes if your current one isn’t working

💡 There’s no shame in dying. There is shame in feeding 12 kills to a Pyro in a corner.

🎩 Items, Hats, and Loadouts (aka Cosmetics & Chaos)

- Hats are purely cosmetic
- Weapons can be unlocked by achievements or trading
- Some weapons have alternate stats (not always better)
- Don’t focus on gear early — focus on learning the core classes

🔥 Class-Specific Quick Tips

- Scout – Double jump. Don’t stop moving. Use flank routes.
- Soldier – Learn rocket jumping later, but for now aim at feet.
- Pyro – Spy check constantly. W+M1 is real.
- Demoman – Sticky bombs = defense tool AND nuke button.
- Heavy – Stick with Medic. Rev up before peeking.
- Engineer – Build near choke points, NOT in spawn.
- Medic – Build Uber and heal the right people.
- Sniper – Aim for headshots. Stay safe.
- Spy – Use disguise + cloak creatively. You will die a lot. Embrace it.

✅ Beginner Loadouts

- Don’t worry about crafting or trading early.
- Stick with stock weapons — they’re strong and balanced
- Try new weapons as you unlock them, but learn one class at a time

🎯 Final Words

TF2 is chaotic, fun, and filled with 15 years of inside jokes.
You’ll die, you’ll laugh, you’ll scream at Snipers, and you’ll eventually get a hat.

Just remember: Teamwork, communication, and not standing still are more powerful than any crit rocket.

“Medic, help! …No, the other Medic.”

GLHF, maggot. Now go push the cart.
