The most easiest way to mod the game is by using the in-game mod manager.
You will need to make an account on https://mod.io/g/baldursgate3 or you can make an account through the in-game mod manager and link Larian/steam account to mod.io.
Now just go to mod manager and subscribe to any mods you like and it will auto install it for you.

Go to https://github.com/LaughingLeader/BG3ModManager/releases and scroll to ''Assets''.
Download BG3ModManager_Latest.zip.
When downloaded, you have to unzip it, best to unzip it to a new folder on your desktop.
For extracting you can use winrar or 7zip, but most PC/Laptops come with one build in.
Run BG3ModManager to launch the mod manager,
for first time uses, it might ask you to install/update .NET, accept it.
It will send you to the right website and download windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.16-win-x64.
Install this file.
When done, just close windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.16-win-x64.
Re-open BG3ModManager, the mod manager auto locates the game.
When you download a mod, you can drag it into the mod manager, to install the mod, drag the mod from the right side to the left side and click on export to game and then save.


You can also easily download the script extender from this mod manager
Go to tools, download & extract the script extender.
This is used for more intense script based mods.

Go to ''https://www.nexusmods.com/'' and create a free account.
Click on the option mods at the top of the website and then download the Vortex mod manager on the right top.
Once the download is done, install vortex onto your PC and open the program.
In vortex go to the tab games on the left side and search for the game ''Baldur's gate 3'' and click on manage, Vortex will then ask you to tell it where the game is installed on your system and might want you to restart the program.
When that is done, reopen Vortex and minimize it.
Now Vortex is ready to use.

Now to install mods
Now go back to the Nexus website and use the search bar to find the game Baldur's gate 3.
Then scroll down to mods and click ''view all'', as of writing this guide there are 13,168 mods for Baldur's gate 3 on the website.
Find yourself a mod you like and click on it, it will open the mod page and show you a description, some pictures.

When you find a mod you like, click on files, click on mod manager download and then slow download.
It will give you popup asking if you allow it to download it to vortex, it will also give you the option to auto allow it.
When you download it, it will maximize Vortex and start downloading the file in it.
When done go to the tab mods and click on the blue button to install the file.
Then enable the mod and now you are ready to play with the mod installed.
You can start the game like normal in steam or click left top in vortex on the game banner on the play button.

For the standalone mod manager you will have to manual download the file

To use the mods in-game, go to mod manager in game, go to installed tab and check-mark the mods you want to use.

Make sure to see if a mod needs a requirement, on the description page it will tell you if and what is needed for the mod to work, it will then also give you the links to the mods.
