How to Use The Photo Mode and How to Post Your Screenshots on Steam!
By Beggar Soldier
In this guide, I would like to show you how you can take your photos with the in-game Photo Mode, while also showing you how it is possible to share the screenshots you take on Steam instead of artworks as some might do, since it can be quite tricky in P5X's case.

I will also showcase the various features the Photo Mode has in greater detail!

Accessing The Photo Mode
It is very easy to access the Photo Mode itself, you just have to open up your phone, swipe right and then you will find it there in the first row of apps simply called Camera.

As easy as that!

It has to be noted that the Photo Mode is not always accessible.

If you stand in a position that has a fixed camera, for example next to the cinema in Central Street, it won't let us open the Photo Mode.

It is also not available during your visit to the metaverse.
Photo Mode and Its Features
If you are familiar with the Photo Mode and have an understanding as to how it works, you can freely skip this section!

Once you open the camera app in-game, you will be welcomed with a minimal interface with the Photo Mode's various features.

(I personally switch to Mouse and Keyboard when I take screenshots as I find it to be a bit more precise)

Let's break down the features this Photo Mode has one by one!
(Sorry for the quality of the GIFs, it's pretty tricky to make them work here.)

Color Filters

I always go with Vivid myself as it makes colors pop.

Change Weather

Get it...? Like Changing Seasons?

"Advanced" Settings

I believe Hide Other Players and Hide Personal Info are self-explanatory.

Camera Panning and Zooming

You can also use WASD to pan the camera.

Add Characters to The Scene

You can spawn characters, move them around, rotate them, change their poses and expressions! (Up to 4 characters at a time.)
New characters unlock as you form new bonds synergies!

Hide UI

It's not the greatest option as it still leaves 2 icons hovering on the screen.

An Example of Taking Screenshots!

Here I'm just showing you how you can take screenshots while utilizing the features the Photo Mode provides!

Other features I did not highlight in GIF format:
  • You can move the camera while still being in Photo Mode by clicking the icon above the screenshot button.
  • You can reset camera settings (bottommost icon on the right side of the screen)
  • The back button in the top left corner is self-explanatory, it closes the Photo Mode.
Posting These Screenshots on Steam
This is the section that I would like to focus on the most, as the previous ones are really just basic stuff.

When you take a photo, the screenshot itself comes up in a smaller pop-up window with a Save/Export Icon hovering outside at its bottom right corner. This makes it unable for you to screenshot the photo in full-screen which you could share on the Steam Community with ease.

This raises the critical question as to how is it possible to share a screenshot like this on Steam?

So what we can do is save/export the photo you have just taken and navigate to the game's folder, where screenshots are stored. The game will show you the directory as well at the bottom left of the screen.

The directory being ".../steamapps/common/P5X/Client/pc/p5x_Data/SreenShots"

An easier way to navigate to the game's folder can be done through the Steam Client, by right clicking on Persona 5: The Phantom X > Manage > Browse local files

From here, you can easily find your way to the ScreenShots folder.

So how do we turn these into screenshots that we can upload onto the Steam Community?
Take a random screenshot in-game with the help of Steam, it doesn't matter what it is since we are going to edit the screenshot anyways. Let's call these placeholder screenshots.

Once you have taken a screenshot (or as much as you would like to share), open up Steam Screenshots where your screenshots get stored, from there just open the folder where the screenshot is easily by right clicking on it then clicking on Show on disk

This will lead you to the directory: "[Drive]:\Steam\userdata\312908543\760\remote\3061570\screenshots"

For example, I have just taken a random screenshot of the main menu itself.

In this folder, you will see all the screenshots you have taken previously in the game. Find the placeholder screenshot(s) you have just taken that you will need to edit with a selected program of yours (GIMP, Photoshop etc.) and replace the image with the saved/exported screenshot of yours and overwrite the file.

Once you have replaced the placeholder screenshot with the one you just saved/exported, make sure to repeat the same procedure in the thumbnails folder that can be found in the same folder as the placeholder screenshot(s) you have taken and needed to edit.
"...screenshots\thumbnails"

If you have done the steps correctly, you will be welcomed by the photo(s) you have taken with the in-game Photo Mode in Steam Screenshots like so.

Here it is after replacing the placeholder screenshot with the one I have taken with the Photo Mode for this guide!

Now you can share the beautiful or fun photos you have just made on the Steam Community!
That's It
If I was able to help you out with this guide, make sure to leave a like, an award or even consider putting it among your favorites! :)

Until next time!
