What is the LGC Alignment System?
The LGC Alignment is a morality system that is affected by Van’s actions after completing 4SPGs. It receives its name from the three different elements that compose it - Law, Gray and Chaos. Due to how the game is structured, it serves a much minor role compared to how it worked in Kuro no Kiseki/Trails through Daybreak I, focusing instead on several benefits gameplay-wise rather than affecting the story.

Each Alignment needs points to level up, which are obtained from 4SPG requests. After completing a 4SPG, Van will automatically gain 1 point towards the Alignments that are shown when accepting a sidequest.

The ‘A Pâtisserie of Ill Repute’ 4SPG grants 1 Law and 1 Gray point upon completion

Moreover, Van's choices at the end of some 4SPGs will affect their outcome. These choices give 5 points to one specific Alignment.

’Turn him in to the police’ (Law) or ‘Settle it amongst themselves’ (Gray)?

This is the cumulative amount of points required to level up each Alignment:

Note that every Alignment starts at Level 3

As it was the case in the previous game, it isn’t possible to max all three Alignments in a single playthrough. Nonetheless, there are several approaches to make the most out of this system, which will be explained in more detail down below.
What does it affect?
  1. In-game achievements and rewards tied to leveling up each Alignment.
  2. Mare, Van’s exclusive Hollow Core, will get different upgrades upon reaching Lv5 for each Alignment.
  3. One copy of Onyx Steel per Alignment, which can be used to create the ultimate weapon for every party member, will appear in the final dungeon if said Alignment is at Lv6.

Since the LGC System doesn't have a major impact in Daybreak II's story, it's best to focus on the gameplay benefits, like unlocking certain Mare upgrades as early as possible or ensuring that two copies of Onyx Steel appear in the final dungeon.
Mare Upgrades
Mare will synchronize with Van’s will once any Alignment reaches Lv5, unlocking new potential. While Mare's S-Boost —Multiple Works— gives Van a little bit of everything, these new Cores allow him to have a more defined role during battle.

“Boost to enhance multiple combat parameters”

“Boost to turn your unbreakable will into power”

“Boost to increase mobility and storm the battlefield”

“Boost to turn your impulse of destruction into power”

All versions can be obtained during the same playthrough and these upgrades share their Lv and Exp with the default Mare, there's no need to level them up separately. While these Hollow Cores have been rebalanced compared to their Daybreak I counterparts, Mare (Chaos) still reigns supreme.
List of 4SPGs and Choices
All 4SPGs alongside their choices, if there are any, have been compiled and organized using 'The Complete Guide' and my own savefiles to double-check the information. As opposed to my guide for Daybreak I, these tables include the localized names for every sidequest alongside their original Japanese names. Choices are only in English to save some space but they are ordered as they appear in-game: the first choice corresponds to the Y button while the second one is the X button.

In addition, the total amount of points obtained by completing 4SPGs has been added up, while the total sum of points corresponding to choices is empty, so that these images can be used as a template for your own playthrough.

Sample Templates
So many points and choices can be overwhelming, especially since the game doesn't offer a way to keep track of your current amount of points per Alignment, but worry not! I have created several templates you can follow to make the most out of the LCG System and achieve specific results during your playthrough.

Balance & Max Chaos
As the name suggests, the goal of this template is to level up all Alignments equally. While I have chosen to focus on Chaos to unlock Mare (Chaos) as early as possible, note that this template can be modified to max either Law or Gray instead.

Results
  • Mare upgrade order: Chaos > Gray > Law
  • Law will reach Lv4 (26/20) during Chapter 2 ~ Side A and Lv5 (43/40) during Chapter 3 ~ Route C
  • Gray will reach Lv4 (23/16) during Chapter 2 ~ Side B and Lv5 (34/32) during Chapter 3 ~ Route B
  • Chaos will reach Lv4 (15/10) during Chapter 1 ~ Side B, Lv5 (21/20) during Chapter 2 ~ Side A and Lv6 (31/30) during Chapter 3 ~ Route B

Max Law & Chaos
There are enough points to reach Lv6 for two Alignments, while still devoting some points to get an additional level up for the third Alignment.

Results
  • Mare upgrade order: Chaos > Law. It's not possible to obtain Mare (Gray)
  • Law will reach Lv4 (26/20) during Chapter 2 ~ Side A (26/20), Lv5 (43/40) during Chapter 2 ~ Side B and Lv6 (60/60) during Chapter 3 ~ Route D
  • Gray will reach Lv4 (18/16) during Chapter 3 ~ Route A
  • Chaos will reach Lv4 (15/10) during Chapter 1 ~ Side B, Lv5 (21/20) during Chapter 2 ~ Side A and Lv6 (31/30) during Chapter 3 ~ Route B

Max Gray & Chaos
Alternatively, it's possible to max Gray instead of Law alongside Chaos.

Results
  • Mare upgrade order: Chaos > Gray. It's not possible to obtain Mare (Law)
  • Law will reach Lv4 (20/20) during Chapter 3 ~ Route A
  • Gray will reach Lv4 (17/16) during Chapter 1 ~ Side B, Lv5 during (38/32) during Chapter 2 ~ Side B and Lv6 (49/48) during Chapter 3 ~ Route B
  • Chaos will reach Lv4 (15/10) during Chapter 1 ~ Side B, Lv5 (21/20) during Chapter 2 ~ Side A and Lv6 (31/30) during Chapter 3 ~ Route B
