Tips for Beginners
Some tips for beginners about the game! There are two types of currency in the game, Iso-8 and Hero Points. Iso-8 is good for upgrading your characters, bonus damage and stock-piles. Hero points are good to buy character slots for you rooster, damage boost and character covers. You will want to buy Character slots in the beginning as the more characters you have the longer you can play (without use all of your health packs). Don't get caught up in the micro-transactions. Save your Hero-Points and $$$ for other games. Your character will heal over time (longer for heroes with higher health). Health packs are given automatically with a max capacity of 5.

Campaign is where if you die it doesn't matter. Versus if you die you lose event points, each new event has a reward for characters, Iso-8 and hero points once you reach a certain level . Be careful as if you attack to early in a timed event other players will attack your team, defeat you and your event score and points will go down! At first your team is lousy, full of 1 star characters.. i.e. Iron man, Storm, Black Widow and Venom.

Once have 2 or more covers of one character you can spend your Iso-8 to upgrade their attacks, damage, and health. Keep your Iron man & Black Widow for the beginning, they will no longer be useful later in the game as they have a maximum level of 50. First fight a match you know you can win (your team has higher level characters then your opponents) ,if you don't follow this your progress will be slow and the game will not be much fun. An easy way to see if you need to heal a team member is if he/she is below 70% full health on an evenly matched team use it. Later on in the game you will be entering matches with only 30% health and still winning most games.

Don't be afraid to try different teams, Join an alliance you will reap many rewards and will give many rewards to others. You can gain Iso-8, Hero Points and Character covers overtime. A main key to Marvel Puzzle Quest is to be patient good covers and characters will be rewarded to you eventually. They will not always be the ones you want but you can sell them and wait some more. The beginning campaign will have a lot of easy matches and decent rewards. Soon you will notice that this is not enough and want more and need more. This is when you are ready to try multiplayer.
Categories and Hero Classes
Categories :
There are many characters with different stars (levels) in the game as we know... there can be divided to different groups. Before we go through the combination let's take a look at what are the groups and how your team can work way better than an unorganized team.

support
support characters that can heal your other heroes or make defense tiles on the board so that you take less damage. some of them can stun the opponent or steal their points and use them against them. Some of the good known characters as support are 2 and 3 star magneto, 1, 2 and 3 star black widow and spider man both 2 and 3 star (however 3 star can be way better). Some other characters like 1 star ironman with his yellow ability(armored assault) that creates defense tiles can be good support sometimes but mainly he is attacker. My favorite one is Falcon because he puts defense tiles, boost your defensive and strike tiles and in some cases can destroy other team's tiles in your favor.

Tank
Tank characters are ones with too much health at their max level or even at their low levels, they are really hard kill and they are really useful to cover your other attackers with lower health and take the damage instead. Some of these tank characters can also deal a lot of damage but mainly their point is to defend other characters that are not strong. As an example Devil Dinosaur, Captain America, Invisible woman, Female Thor (goddess of thunder), Rocket and Groot, Colossus, She-Hulk and Hulk himself are tank too. But remember being a tank doesn't mean you can't deal any damage. These characters are tank simply because their health at their maximum level is just too much more than a normal character. As an example Aries has 5880 health at level 94 but Strom 2 star, max level(94) has 2940 as her health. Some characters have fairly good health, not as much as a good tank like devil dinosaur, but they can heal themselves during a match and even get back to full health , like Daken 2star wolverine.

Attackers
I would like to divide attackers in to 2 classes, single target attackers and multi-target attackers.
some of the attackers can deal a good damage over time by just getting a normal match and putting out strike tiles like Daken , wolverine and blade. But here we are talking about characters than can deal a good damage to enemy by their skills and abilities.
Single - target attackers :
these are usually the ones that can deal a big damage to only one enemy. Now take note, you may think, if you deal damage to everyone is better than 1 character, but usually it's not as much as a single-target ability. Some of these abilities come with a (1 , 2 , 3 or even 4 turn) stuns. Daken's blue (chemical reaction) 2star wolverine's red(Adamantium slash) and Aries green with a good amount of green (onslaught) are examples. These can deal a good damage to enemy. Remember the better the character, the bigger the damage. Usually 3 stars is better than 2 star and the same way 4 is better than 3.

Multi-target Attackers :
These characters can attack multiple or all the enemies at once. They are crazy good in case you want to get rid of all in faster way. Usually they have abilities that can change tiles on board. Two main characters you can get kinda easily and they are really good in this case are 2 star storm and 2 star Thor.
2 star storm can destroy the other team by 2 of her abilities, Yellow and blue. Storm's blue (Wind Storm) deals 1838 to all enemies and stuns the target for 4 turns at (5 cover blue) and level 94. Her yellow(Raging Tempest) can deal 331 to all enemies if one of your team members take damage of 20% of their max health at once automatically and this damage can go insanely high to 2205 to everyone when all your characters are below 50% of their health and one of them take 20% of his max health damage.

2 star Thor, on the other hand, can also be crazy if you apply the ablities in right order. His red ability generates yellow on board. His yellow generates green on board. Even though they both deal a good amount damage to one enemy, his main damage is his green. His green deals more than 1000 to everyone on the other team + another 1000 to the single target you apply your ability on.

There can be more specific categories but these are main categories.

Great guide guys, well done and thanks! I just started playing one day without regard to strategy, etc. I spent way too much $ on covers cause the fun for me was collecting em. I'm a comic book geek, so...
