How to get started
Hello everybody,

Since the official release I have seen a lot of posts about people having trouble at the start of a game, so here I will post a few tips for those who really struggle getting past the crypt.

I will give a few sugestions about party setups, the basic classes, getting geared and university.

Note that this tutorial is meant for new players to get through the first few dungeons while they still learn about the game and that I leave some details out to not confuse them.

Party setup

With a good party setup you wont need that high equipment to deal with the early dungeons as that you would need when you would go 4 mages for example.

Now there are quite a decent amount of good party setups you can make with the starter classes but here are a few easy to work with party's:

1. Frontline: Warrior, Cleric
Backline: Ranger, Mage

A beefy frontline with warrior as tank, cleric as tanky healer and ranger/mage as dps. Also very easy to gear since all 4 of them need a different primary attribute (will talk about that later)

2. Frontline: Warrior, rogue/barbarian
Backline: Cleric, mage/ranger

Again the warrior will be the tank with rogue/barbarian as bruiser and cleric as healer/support/dps and mage/ranger as pure dps. This one is slightly harder to gear because you have 2 heroes that use strength but should not be a big problem.

3. Frontline: Paladin, Warrior
Backline: Cleric, mage/ranger

This one is for the people who dont mind to have less damage but wanna be 100% sure that no one will ever die. With paladin as tank/healer, warrior as tank, cleric as healer/dps and mage or ranger as pure dps. Although its harder to gear this party it is almost impossible that any of your guys will ever die.

Of course you can change it up a little bit here and there I do really recommend 1 or 2 for beginners because its by far the easiest to manage.

The reason I really recommend using the warrior as tank is because his taunts also reduce enemies armor.

Basic classes

Alright when you get in the game you will be able to hire 7 different classes from 7 different races, each with their own skills and abilities:

1. Ranger

The ranger uses preferably a bow/crossbow (rangers can also use some melee weapons although I do not recommend melee rangers as beginner) and is very reliant on basic attacks/ buffs and debuffs. The ranger (if using a bow) needs a lot of dexterity and after that focus.

The ranger will start with mongoose shot which damage is based on the rangers spellpower (Wisdom)and therefore does way less damage than a basic attack I recommend immediatly to respec his skill to mark/blindness which is a good skill against bosses or other tough enemies. Keep mark/blindness till lvl 10 then respec again and take perfect aim, mark and blindness (and later in the game eyes of the convocation)

2. Warrior

The warrior should be played as a tank with a shield in the offhand and a 1-handed weapon in his main hand (Hammer, sword, dagger or axe) and uses strength and constitution (health) and later on armor will be important. The tank uses abilities like taunt/greater taunt to make the enemies attack him and then wall/defend to reduce the incoming damage.

3. Paladin

The paladin in the early game is very similiar to the warrior only a little bit more offensive but makes up by that with the ability to heal. He needs the same attributes as the warrior (unless you make a hybrid paladin but you should hold off from that until you know the game a bit better)

4. Mage

The mage is a damage class almost all his skills are damage dealing skills. The mage deals a huge amount of damage and is very reliant on his spellpower (intelligence). Intelligence is the attribute you want for the mage with (if possible) some focus for the crit chance. The mage should be using either a wand (with shield) or a staff because those weapons deal damage based on intelligence.

5. Cleric

The cleric is the only (good) healer you can chose early game. The cleric has the ability to heal himself/allies and buff them to make them deal more damage or reduce the damage they take. The cleric uses preferably scepters either 1-handed (with shield) or 2-handed. The cleric needs spellpower (wisdom) for his damaging and healing abilities. Take in mind that the cleric only does 30% of his weapon damage with basic attacks so that wont do a whole lot of damage.

6. Rogue

The rogue is a damage class that can either use bows (dexterity) or melee weapons (mostly dual wield/ 2x a 1 handed weapon). I recommend letting him use 2 daggers or 2x 1-handed sword instead of a bow. The rogue is able to deal huge amounts of damage and is also able to buff allies or debuff enemies. He needs strength the most with some focus and constitution.

7. Barbarian

The barbarian is a bruiser class (Tank/dps). He has the ability to taunt enemies but relies on life steal to stay alive. The barbarian really shines later in the game but is a decent pick if you already have a warrior to soak some damage. The barbarian uses 2-handed weapons and needs a lot of strength with some constitution, focus and if possible % life on hit although thats not too important.

Getting geared

The problem that some of the new players seem to have is getting better gear for their party/parties. Although it might seem hard to get the right gear (because of heavily randomized loot (we all love our staffs with strength dont we)), it really isnt that hard.

The best way to get your party geared up for "the crypt" is by going through "the cave" 3 or 4 times (this includes the secondary objectives). This way you should get enough loot to completely gear your party including some awesome looking mythical gear.

Now of course your mage will happen to have no rings with inteligence but dont worry we have the blacksmith. The blacksmith is the best way to get those missing pieces of gear. You can find the blacksmith at the castle. The blacksmith does require some materials to craft the piece of equipment you need, you can obtain these materials by "salvaging" some of your uesless loot (ahum staff with strength and dexterity)

This will also give you some gems which you can use to determine the attribute an item will get + a little bonus dependent on the tier of the gem.

Now that you got some materials you can craft some cool equipment, first select what piece of equipment you need, then select the materials/rarity (if you salvage uncommon equipment you get materials to craft uncommon equipment) and then go to the optional slots to select the gem/attribute that you want on it (you can select up to 2 attributes).

Great now you got all the gear you need to go and slay the zombie lord in the crypt!

University

While your mighty adventurers got stronger from killing those bats and rats and taking their swords and shields you also have the choice to make them stronger without taking any risks in combat. The university is right above the cave, here you can select an adventurer and make him study so he will become even mightier. There are many different courses but I recommend training their main attribute first. You can find the attribute courses in the top left of the university and after they finish the required "attributes" course you can let them study 5x 10 points of their primary attribute (which is a decent amount early on). take in mind that this will cost a few of those shiny golden coins you collected and will become a bit more expensive with each extra course you take. Also there is no limit to how many of your adventurers can study at the same time and they will continue to study if during adventures.

Now this is all you need to get through the early dungeons and become the mightiest adventurer manager that adventuria has ever know.

Good luck to all of you and may jester be forever at your side.

@Amber Yeah, I actually used some of it myself after not playing for a few months :P. But it is really meant for the new people since after the game came out of alpha a lot of people couldnt get passed the first few dungeons :P

@kaaschuig, You can bring back your party's who are oon auto adventure by clicking "Adventure" on the top of the screen, then click on the group you wanna bring back and then click "portal out".

If you do auto adventures and use fast forward (instead of sending a 2nd party on "manual" quests)then the chance of spawning an invasion increases significantly so be carefull with using fast forward.

I am kinda confused by Auto Adventure. Just tried my first game and when the jester told me to try out Auto-Adventure I did so... and got two invasions while they were gone and had no idea how to bring them back.

if you kill then by using aging, then you can only strip them of anything they had by looting their grave, basicly as if you were on "ironman"

It's not the university it's self that gets a bonus, retiring one gives a single adventurer a boost with adtribute poins, xp (if has any before retiring), and university points (if has any), and university points, basicly the same thing as adtribute points.

you get their equipment back. And if I am correct retired heroes give a bonus to the university (but I am not entirely sure about that).

But that does not mean its the end of your adventure because all new heroes will "get" some of the knowledge of your retired adventurers so they can become even stronger and mightier heroes than your previous ones.

Yes it help. Do you know what will happen about all heroes when they die because they are too old ? You lost them + all their equipement ? Do you gain something interresting about them ?
Enchanic  [author] 28 May, 2015 @ 10:32pm
Havent played the game for a while but from what I remember it was possible to make 8 teams consisting of up to 4 heroes each. You have to manage them seperatly and are unable to send them to the same dungeon/quest. I hope this helped :)
