When ugg made this caravans were new. Ludeon frequently merges in fixes and ideas from the modding community but tend to not keep notes as to why those mods existed.
The shuttles are cool but the issue of unloading items is back with them without this. Items being on 1 pawn is also a bit of QoL issue.
Depending on when you played the game some things have vastly changed, like leather being categories now which is also a mod-merged idea. Many of the legacy mods don't change their descriptions out of respect for the creator but this is confusing for newer people getting into mods.
