By Ender Yılmaz
Level 22 Elementalist that use Ice Shard as main skill to mow down both bosses and mobs alike. Because of homing it auto target enemies and it have lots of projectile. Even though Chaos make it shoot random direction because how good homing works it will target enemies pretty easily. Especially against bosses it will make almost all of your projectiles hit the boss. So check it out

Here is how the builds works against the +5 level so far endgame boss

Skills - Storm
First Look at Storm Active Skills

Ice Shard

This is our main skill to deal damage. It shoot bunch of shard that can deal damage to same target but only catch is extra projectiles deal 20% of the base damage to same target. Currently we have 18 projectile that mean 1 main projectile + 17 extra projectile to hit same target. And if you calculate 17 x 0.2 = 3.4x + 1x from main projectile make it 4.4x dps multiplier when it come to dealing damage to single target. Even if you miss one or two projectile it still at least 4x dps.

Ice Shard - Modifiers
  • Infused Shard: This is make our ice shard deal additional cold damage based on the reserved energy we have. That is why we try to reserve as much energy as possible. There are passive and toggle skills to make us reserve energy so we gonna invest in them.
  • Homing:This is really important because it make projectiles to chase enemies. That both allow it to easily hit same target and make next modifier works with this build.
  • Chaos: It make you shoot Ice Shards randomly so you cant really aim them anymore BUT because we have Homing and even more Homing power from passives that make it easy to use because they are targeting enemies so good. You can also see how well they works against boss in the video. Main reason why we take this is it give +4 projectile per level so +12 in total. That is huge compare to Torrent we have to take 1 level just to get Chaos
  • Torrent: Only reason we get this is getting Chaos.

UPDATE:
I drop infused shard to 4 level to level up Homing to level 2 because that now allow me to sit next to boss and spam because with that i dont need to try to keep a distance anymore. Also that make enemy to more vulnerable to cold resistance reduction of ring of flame

Storm Nimbus

This is a great buff skill both offensively and defensively. It allow us to reserve energy to make our ice shard deal more damage. Additionally we also get resist from it.

Storm Nimbus - Modifiers
  • Storm Enhancement: 40% increased cold damage and extra +50 energy to reserve. Both of those mean damage for our ice shards.
  • Cold Resistance & Lightning Resistance: Both modifiers works same way. So adjust how many you gonna give them according to your characters resistance need. Spend rest of the points here. They also gives max resist.

Cyclone

This is our mainly self buff skill. It follow us and give us increased damage for our ice shards. For that you need to keep it up while keeping amplify stack on 10. Simple recast it when it end and make sure you have 10 stack of amplify as soon as possible and to do that you simple need to cast any skills probably ice shards.

Cyclone- Modifiers
  • Personal Storm: This make cyclone also create a smaller cyclone that follow you. This is pretty important if you wanna be mobile. If you dont feels like you need it you can either speck into Blizzard or just simple spend points on somewhere else but i suggest to get it.
  • Escalation: This is why we take Personal Storm because this modifier give us 40% increased cold damage on max cyclone amplify stack. Also it give qol where it gives us amplify automatically every 2 second. So it is literally one point wonder.
  • So far this two is enough for me but if later on you have more points i would put them into Blizzard to make it looks cool and deal cold damage.

Blink

This is pretty useful movement skill, especially against bosses because from my experience you dont wanna be next to a boss because it make ice shards go haywire so you want to have a medium distance. With Blink you can move to somewher else and return back after boss chase you enough.

Blink- Modifiers
  • Repeat: This is pretty good because it allow you to jump more. So far one point is enough but second point also can be good. I dont think you need more than that. I i have more point spend on Blink i would probably either refund them or get Engage maybe.

Now Lets move to Storm Passives

Raging Mind

Raging Mind is pretty good because it gives spell damage, casting speed and crit chance.

Raging Mind- Modifiers
  • Cast Speed: Faster is better.
  • Critical Chance: One of the sources we get our critical Hit chance from.

Arcane Influx

This is quite important passive for Ice Shard because of one of the modifiers.

Arcane Influx - Modifiers
  • Reservation: This is main reason why we get this passive because this reserve energy and one of the power source for our Ice shard is reserving energy.
  • Energy: If i had more point i might get this but not sure. Depend if need defense in future.

Storm Attunement

Just for getting more damage.

Storm Attunement - Modifiers
  • Spell Damage: More cast speed is always good to have and more cold damage.
  • Projectile Damage: If i had more passive i would get this for more damage.

Storm Guidance

This is also pretty much must have and need to max asap.

Storm Guidance- Modifiers
  • Homing: Improve homing of Ice Shard. I suggest getting this as fast as possible.
  • Speed: Mostly for quality of life improvement. Faster projectile is good to have.

Storm Adaptation

Purely for defensive. Get this later on.

Storm Adaptation- Modifiers
  • Cold Resistance: Read below
  • Lightning Resistance: Same reason with Cold Resistance. Basically to get more resist and max resist. That gonna make itemization easier.

Skills - Earth
Now move to Earth Active Skills

Earth Enchantment

Defensive and offensive. Offensive part of this skill come from energy reservation. Remember more energy reservation = More Ice Shards dps

Earth Enchantment - Modifiers
  • Fire Resistance: We use it mainly to reserve more energy while enjoying fire resist and fire max resist.
  • Stone Skin: When you have more passives you should invest into this. Fire resistance and stone skin together make you spend 10 points so you already maxed out. And it is enough for us.

Ring of Flame

Almost only reason to get this is huge energy reserving of it. Later on if you really want you can also make it melt enemy cold resist but requires enemy to be too close for my taste but better than nothing

Ring of Flame - Modifiers
  • Permanency: This is the core reason why we getting this. This reserve 60 energy.
  • Weakening Heat: If you have more points you can also invest this. It gonna make enemies nearby standing on your ring of flame losing cold resist.

Now move to Earth Passive Skills

Grand Magic

Spell damage and Energy. Pretty good combo and have good modifiers.

Grand Magic - Modifiers
  • Spell Damage and Cost: Side effect of spending more energy is not that bad while it give you good damage increase.
  • Critical Chance: One of the few Critical Hit Chance source so get it.

Magma Shell

Storm Adaptation's Earth counterpark. Get it later on for defense.

Magma Shell- Modifiers
  • Fire Resistance: It gonna make you gain pretty good fire resist and max fire resist. Gonna take the burden of fire resist from your items.

@Parandrus, you're wrong about Infused Shard. I tested it.

Control test (current build): Boss kill in 20s
No Infused, max Torrent & Homing(2/3): ~27s
Max Homing (3/3), Torrent (4/5), no Infused: ~27s
Removing Infused Shard lowers DPS. It clearly adds a lot of flat damage.

But I found an even better setup:
Drop Infused Shard to 4/5, raise Homing to 2/3.

Why? This lets me stay on top of enemies, making all Ice Shards hit, and keeps them in Ring of Flames, lowering cold resist more. Result? Boss kill time drops to 17s.

So:

Infused Shard is vital for DPS
Slight tweak (4/5 Infused, 2/3 Homing) gives best real-world results
If you're not seeing results, you might not have enough energy or you're not reserving energy enough. I will upgrade the guide accordingly this new testing.

@Esoteric84#2384 For me it was Druid, Storm and Nature where Nature is mainly defensive buffs plus 10% total speed and rest is storm. Elementalist feels way better because of homing ice shards though

You should unspec infused shard, you really dont get that much flat from it and the extra points in homing and projectile pen allow your projectiles to hit 3+ times especially on bosses.

I'm using the same mods for Ice Shard, but I went with Rogue as second mastery. On the passive side it's all about damage, cast speed and crit buffs. I'm using Preperation aura for energy reservation, crit bonuses and movement speed, then Mark for Death + Dismantling Tactics as damage buff for bosses and Vanish as another damage buff. I think Warfare also works quite well as it has an aura for energy reservation, spell/projectile damage passives and it allows you to stack spell rage with Ice Shards via the passive that gives rage on kill.

@ÆNEAS Ice Shart is way too strong for early access XD It goes everywhere. I hope you enjoy it ^^

@Dizzard I do not spend point on Magma Shell because my level is low. I put it there for future levels. Magma Shell and Storm Adaptation are two passive that you gonna need on high level. Early on damaging passives are better. So i tried to make sure what you can get on higher levels too.
Dizzard 4 Aug @ 1:22am
Nice build :) FYI In your Earth skill overview picture Magma Shell is not skilled.

I read Ice SharT build :DLskull: :DLskull:
