Downloading Audacity

First download audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/, get the latest version unless it has major issues.

Audacity's Interface
After its downloaded and installed, open it, you will then see it's interface.

You can use Open option on the File tab, use CTRL + O keyboard shortcut, or just drag and drop the Music / Sound you want to edit.

You can do multiple sounds together by dragging and dropping them one by one.

It'll play multiple sounds together this way and you can save it as a single sound file.

Editing sound
If you are going to edit sounds like clipping out certain spots or just adding a fade in/out effect, first stop the sound playback by pressing the stop button.

You can drag on the sound waves to highlight a certain area.

Taking out that highlighted are just needs the DELETE keyboard button.

The fade in/out effect is a similar way by highlighting area, then going to the effects tab and pressing fade in or fade out.

Converting to WAV / OGG
If you are done editing or just want to convert, go to Export Audio option on the Files tab.

You can also use the CTRL + SHIFT + E Shortcut Keys to get there.

Please know you can convert supported sound files to MP3, but It'll need an addon because MP3 file format is Licenced.

Let me know If this guide helped, If you're stuck, I recommend watching youtube videos by professionals to help understand it better and explain more than me.

Enjoy :)
