In the average world of Team Fortress 2, now there is only 25 in 100 people who plays as a Medic on a server (this excludes mini-games like Jailbreak). I am here to help the '25 in 100' who plays as a Medic. This guide is mainly catered for beginners but it can help seniors and newbies alike. So without further ado let's get started!

Priority - Who to heal first and who to heal last?
Class Priority
So you know how to play as a Medic, but who do we heal first and who do we heal last? It is as follows, the top being the most prioritized, and low being the least.
  • Medic
  • Heavy
  • Pyro
  • Soldier
  • Demoman
  • Scout
  • Sniper
  • Spy
  • Engineer

Now let's find out the reasons why they are in this order:

Class Priority #1: The Medic

I could not emphasize more on this, the medic is always the FIRST to be healed when he's injured. Reason goes like this; both of you have the SAME JOB. You both maintain the SURVIVABILITY of your team. If one Medic dies and this causes the rest of your teamates to not withstand the wrath of the opposing force, it will be ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT. Make sure they are in a healthy state at ALL TIMES.

Class Priority #2, #3 and #4: Heavy, Pyro and Soldier

These classes go after the priority slot of the Medic. Their job is to complete your team's OBJECTIVE. These vary according to gamemode. Heavy goes first before the Pyro and Soldier does as you can 'manipulate' him as a silver lining just in case things go awry and vice versa. He can also assault as well as have more health than any other class on this joint. Then heal the rest accordingly.

Class Priority #5 and #6: Demoman and Scout
Demoman goes first before the Scout does, but why? I'll explain that later. But first, I'll elaborate more on why the Demoman goes first. Like the Heavy, he can maintain a silver lining as well as claiming objectives but he is more catered towards maintaining a silver lining. And why Scout comes after and not before the Demoman does? He runs faster than you so before you can even heal him he's away on his own. The Scout seldom seeks a Medic's attention. Unless if he's very injured, he'll run his way back to a medkit and that's pretty much it.

Class Priority #7 and #8: Sniper and Spy
These classes don't go for the assault, but they're more of COLLAPSING the opposing team's defense. The Sniper usually sticks in one spot and camps so leave him ALONE. He'll be able to help himself unless he is critically wounded and you, at the right time are around. If he's injured and requires assistance, if you're close to him, tend to his needs, and then continue with your teamates. The same goes for the Spy as he's pretty much a stealth person.

Class Priority #9: The Engineer
Now DON'T even bother with the Engineer. He most likely camps around his buildings. Unless if he's really INJURED don't attend to his needs. His Dispenser heals people so he can use that building to heal himself. But I'm not really implying that you should never heal the Engineer. If you see no one else that needs your help, just overheal him just for the sake of a Ubercharge.

State Priority
So now that we know which class to heal first, let's take a look at who in which state has to be healed first. The order goes the same as the hiearchy above.

  • Burning, critically injured
  • Bleeding, critically injured
  • Burning, minor injuries
  • Bleeding, minor injuries
  • Doused with Jarate or Mad Milk, critically injured
  • Doused with Jarate or Mad Milk, minor injuries
  • Critically injured
  • Minor Injuries
  • Perfectly healthy

State Priority: Burning or Bleeding
This state is the most dangerous out of the others, so always tend to their needs first before anyone else. If you leave them dying NEAR YOU as you heal the others, you'll most likely be at fault.

State Priority Doused with Jarate or Mad Milk
This state renders players vulnerable to the enemies as they can be MARKED FOR DEATH(mini-crits, applies to Jarate only). Quickly attend to their needs as a entire bunch of opponents can quickly eliminate them.

Priority: Tips
Don't go taking your time thinking who to heal first or not. If you're not used to this habit of priority, just go your usual style first. Don't just SIT THERE and wait for a teamate to die. People will blame you for that. Just recognise it in your mind constantly that you must do this and that first before moving on to the other and kick-butt the next time.
Self-Defense and Spy Checking
Self-Defense and Spy Checking: Introductions
A Medic, don't forget, is VERY VULNERABLE to the open-world. He has only 150 HP and relies on his patients to support him in the battlefield. But what if you have no patient? What if you encounter an enemy? You wouldn't sit there with your medigun forever equipped requesting for help. This section will teach you how to effectively wipe off enemies correctly.

Self-Defense: The Syringe Gun or Crusader's Crossbow

Hey, you forgot about your arsenal my friend?
Don't forget that you always have your SYRINGE GUN in your loadout. What's it's purpose? Decoration? NO. It's purpose is to assist you in fighting back against enemies! When you ever encounter one when you're alone, always have the h
abit to immediately switch to assault and fight back! You can also use your melee as well!

Self-Defense: The Medigun
Did you know that you can Ubercharge without a healing partner? When in intense situations such as when you're alone, and no one's there, you're critically wounded, deploy your Ubercharge to become invincible and restore your health back to full! Unless you use the Kritzkrieg or Vaccinator. If you ever encounter an enemy when you have a Ubercharged medigun when alone and injured always DEPLOY IT AND RETREAT. Don't just use your ubercharge and just wait there for it to run out and then get humiliated by getting killed by melee. Seriously. That's the worst thing one can ever do in TF2. That's to waste a perfectly golden Ubercharge.

Self-Defense: Snipers

Always stay out of the sniper's sight. You can easily fall for a sniper's target if you don't flee. And while you're retreating, always remember to retaliate as you do so. This will make the Sniper's rifle flinch so that you won't get headshot or bodyshot by him that easily.

Spy Checking: Heal First, then SPY CHECK
When in a intense situation, always remember to heal a "spy teamate" first before you are in a safe spot in order to kill him. This will ensure that you will not be able to get "sabotaged" by him just in case and when certain instances you're not able to spycheck (e.g teamate injured, etc). Remember, your role is to maintain the SURVIVABILITY of the teamates.

Spy Checking: Looking Behind You Regularly
It's always good to look to your back when healing a patient as chances are Spies will take you down first before your patient does. I'm not saying you should do this all the time but just do so when you're in a safe zone, this is where the presence of a Spy usually lurks around, especially with the Dead Ringer or Invis Watches. If you ever hear decloak sounds, immediately look behind you to ensure that you really heard a Spy. If you ever encounter him decloaked, remember, SELF-DEFENSE.
MEDIC! - The Command and Pocket Medics
MEDIC! - The Command: Strategy
I am purdy sure you've encountered players spamming the MEDIC! Command when they don't really need it. Okay, following the status priority as in the above section, always follow that PRIORITY LIST. Otherwise you're unecessarily risking the death of teamates. Attend to the injured ones first, then move on to overheal those shouting "MEDIC!". And don't even bother if they keep spamming for no reason at all. They will most likely make you ragequit.

Pocket Medics - Why you shouldn't do it
No one likes POCKET MEDICS (except for your friend who hired you to attend to his needs at all times). It's pretty annoying and when you join, people would think you're a normal Medic. If they need assistance, you would never heal them. Now this, is what I most HATE ABOUT pocket Medics. Even if you are a Medic yourself, healing a pocket Medic will be a total waste of your time. He will only focus on his "boss" and leave you alone to die as he won't return the favour you did to him. Just don't be one. Period.
Tips and Tricks
Tips and Tricks
Every body out there needs a little tip from me if they ever browse through this guide, so before the end, I will share a few of my tips to y'all, the readers.

The Crusader's Crossbow: Healing someone critically injured
If you use the Crusader's Crossbow, I would prefer using it to heal someone in the state of dying. Don't use your Medigun. Just switch to your Crossbow and shoot away! It restores 30+ HP of his health in an instant instead of trying to heal someone with your Medigun, the speed of healing with the Medigun is only like 1HP per milisecond. I would prefer using the Crusader's Crossbow instead.
The Crusader's Crossbow is also handy when healing someone from far away! So use it when it's needed!

The Ubersaw: The Kill Taunt
If you can, try to use the Ubersaw and manipulate it's 'kill taunt'. With it, you can easily trap a disguised Spy to a corner and then taunt kill him. The 'kill taunt' is called the Spinal Tap, according to the Team Fortress Wiki. Having your Ubersaw already stabbed inside the enemie's body gives you 25% of the Ubercharge stored inside your Ubersaw. And when you release it, it immediately kills the enemy, storing another 75% worth of Ubercharge innside your Ubersaw. And guess what? 25%+75% = 100%! Full Ubercharge built because of the benefit of the taunt kill. I'm not saying you should literally trap a Spy in a corner and then taunt kill him. I'm just saying when it is the golden opportunity to do so, do it!
Ending Notes

On that note, thanks for watching this guide! I hope this helped anyone that finished browsing my guide so yeah. Good times!

Hmm.
Just want to poke this in. When someone continues to spam "E" I heal them and lead them to where I know a sniper is. Tell him I'll uber him so he doesn't die. And then hide beinhd cover as he aimlessly wanders out and gets the gibbus shot out of him. It's mean but soooooo satisfying. :D
