Intro / Reaching Group 3
Welcome! This guide will help you fill up your slots, powerups and earn some easy credits as well. Skip to the next part if you're already in Group 3.

Of course, first you have to get to Group 3, which is the third set of races. Beating the normal races should be straightforward. The first challenge in group 1 is simply a race. It can be annoying, especially with the rather squirrely Eagle car, but it's very doable. Simply try to minimize mistakes. You just need consistant laps without many resets. Going too fast will often result in the Eagle spinning out or flipping etc. If you find yourself having a lot of trouble on this race, consider investing in the "Bugga" car. It is that little pink buggy that you usually blow in half in one hit. Yes, that one! It actually handles a lot better on the dirt than the Eagle. Just keep in mind it isn't likely to be useful for anything else. Keep at the race and you'll beat it eventually. On to group 2!

Group 2 races are pretty standard. However, the challenge level can be pretty annoying. I think it took me 5 tries to beat it, after the 3rd one I watched a youtube video on the proper course. Don't expect to beat this one your first or second try, it just takes some practice to learn how much gas to use for each ramp. My advice: 1. If you find you are wasting time getting the two little power ups, feel free to skip them. You will be getting PLENTY of them in group 3 so if this slows you down, don't mess with them. 2. Assuming you have lots of credits, the reset button is your friend. Often, after hitting a satellite, it's better to reset rather than try to reverse and turn around. 3. Don't get frustrated, this mission sucks but the game gets better!
APOs, Slots, and Credits in group 3
Alright, now you've either finally reached group 3, or you were already there and skipped the first section. Either way, now for the fun part! Note that I am using the Purple Piledriver and testing the Bimmer, but any *driveable* car will work. (No promises for the dragster or jet car!)

So, start up the first race in Max's Junkyard called "Home Sweet Groan." Right at the beginning, there's a large downhill race that ends in barriers that you can smash the cars that start in front of you. This will usually destroy them instantly if done correctly, but it can backfire on you as well! Get some early kills so that you're not rushed for time while exploring. 6 minutes or so should be more than enough. Now load up the minimap. We want to head to near the middle of the level in the muddy area.

Head to the area marked "Start." To find it easily, I usually use the small lake as a point of reference. The starting point is the ramp. Included are some screenshots of the ramp. There's an instant handbrake at the top of the ramp, but you don't really need it.

Once on the wooden highway thing, follow it until you see a concrete pipe to your right. It's not very far away. Slow down completely, turn right, back up a little bit and do an easy dive off the wooden highway onto the top of the pipe.

Now stay balanced on the pipe to claim your reward! 3 Empty slots that not only unlock 1 slot, but 3 at once!!!

Now you've got the slots, but you need to fill them up. That's even easier! Load up the mini-map again. Now we're heading into the sewer. It's at the west side of big dirt area. There are multiple entrances to the sewer, but this one is easy to find and very close to the powerups we need. The entrance is a bit hidden, so I've included a screenshot of what to look for.

Once inside the sewer tunnel, keep left. There is one turnoff that goes right and that isn't what we want. You will eventually come to a large room. There is a turbo or hot rod powerup that makes it rather difficult to control your car, so I try to avoid that one. Sitting in the middle of a small pond are 3 types of powerups. Unlike most powerups, these fill your slots to the max!

There's also a mine powerup in the pond which will make destroying with the remaining cars easier. Remember that you don't keep the powerups or the slots if you die or run out of time!
You can do this trick multiple times and it's worth repeating until you have max slots at least. However, there is a cap on how many slots you can fill up. It will sadly cap out when you fill up the first complete top row of powerups. You can see the full top row in my last screenshot. Luckily, the nice thing is that getting the slots and APO powerups still give 50k credits each. So each time you play this level and get all 6, you can earn an easy 300,000 credits! This will make saving for big rigs and buying other interesting cars a lot easier.
Extra Credit(s)
So after doing the basic guide, I did some more exploring and found 5 more power ups that are fairly easy to get. This raises the credit farming potential of a single play on this race to over 550,000 credits! Here are the extra powerups.

The first one is located right near the middle of the map. It is only a single powerup and can be slightly difficult to get, depending on which car you're using. It is a single powerup worth 50,000
on the top of an iron girder. It's not that challenging, but if you are using a car that doesn't handle well in the mud, you may get stuck and need to recover once or twice. I had some trouble getting it driving the Porker 2, but the Purple Piledriver had no problems reaching it. Since this one is only worth 50,000, it's up to you whether it's worth the trouble or not. It is close to the wooden ramp, so it's probably worth it.

And here is a map showing where it is located. You can see the red arrow and I have circled it.

Also check out the lake just south of the sewer entrance. Inside the lake are 4 more APOs! Yes, it's a bit annoying to drive underwater but luckily there are lots of underwater driving powerups.
I would recommend getting these before you get the 3 in the sewer. Why? Because the stupid AI drivers have the annoying tendancy to follow you into the water and underwater battles are rather obnoxious. I think it's better to grab those, then head on to the sewers and give the AI a chance to get out of the water. Anyway, hope this helps and enjoy those new cars and trucks, airplanes, etc.
