Welcome to the FFXIII-2: Improving Performance & Framerate Issues Thread

This topic will be dedicated to improving FFXIII-2 in any way possible.
Keep in mind the settings below will NOT fix all your issues, it only improves them.
General
Before anything, be sure your computer or laptop has the needed specs to run the game.
If you have less then 2GB ram, having pograms running like "Skype" or webbrowsers like "Google Chrome" could effect gameplay, if so its recomended to close them.
FFXIII-2 Launcher:
Screen Settings: Keep in mind, playing in "Windowed Mode" cause less framerate drop.
Resolution: The lower you set this, the less framerate drop you'll get.
Sound Settings: ...
Shadow resolution: It's highly recomended you set this to "1024 x 1024".
Anti-aliasing (MSAA): Set this option to "x2".
nVIDIA
Firstly, open the nVIDIA Control Panel, go to "Manage 3D settings" click on the tab "Program Settings" and press "Add", you should see the program FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, if not click on "Browse" and goto:

The recommended settings for Antialiasing do nothing by default.
This is because the support for it trough the Control Panal hasnt been added.
Even so, if in the future it will be added to FFXIII-2 the settings you gave are there.
AMD
Because i dont own an AMD card, i can only give a plain explaination about this,
If you know more or have more experience about this, please put it in the comments.

Firstly open the "Catalyst Control Panel", if there's a way to add propfiles, add this:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\prog\win\bin

Recommended Settings:

thks for the guide, ill be sure to try these up when i play again. The thing is, my computer should really overkill any specs needed by the game but for an unknown reason, i had very frequent drop in fps and the graphics are like... disturbing. I know it is an old game, but still got these issues so ill try your settings

I use amd adrenaline 2020. This guide refers to out of date info for AMD.

AMD card here. I tried everything I could find to make this game not stutter, and this is the only thing that worked. My Catalyst Control Panel didn't have anything for "Maximum pre-rendered frames," but all the other settings were there, and this guide worked perfectly. It finally runs smoothly. Thank you!

uninstall/reinstall? or maybe if that doesn't work, then google how to fix a broken Steam installation.

I know this is like wayyyy from the past but I am having a major issue with Steam in general. It crashes every time it loads a game, it doesnt even load the menu, it just exits to desktop, anyone have any ideas?
