FAQ
How to play?

See Gameplay Objectives and Quick Help to get started. Also read the walls in the safezone for basic information.

How do I get out of the safezone?

Safezone has small barriers on its boundary that prevents vehicles getting in. Sometimes they are invisible to players. Simply follow the road and jump over the (invisible) barrier.

Where can I find a grapplehook?

Grapplehook can be found in level 2 lootboxes. They are not common on ground level, but a few places you can check are near Baby Panay Statues, on the shorelines, gas stations or well hidden corners. You can also ask players for a grapplehook and someone will kindly give or trade one.

Where can I find loot/lootboxes?

First, look in the safezone to see what lootboxes look like. There are examples of all types of lootboxes and player stashes. Then go out and look for them.

How do I spawn stuff? WTF no buy menu?

You cannot spawn stuff in this server. You have to find everything.

P.S: Read the name of the server again. It contains the word Survival. Now put yourself in a survival situation and you need a vehicle. Would you spawn a vehicle magically or search for one? Well I would probably spawn one, but I can't!

Where can I find X item?

Read the safezone walls, or this guide to find out which lootbox contains what item.

What is 'Secret' item?
When you click on the Secret in your inventory, it will set a waypoint (check F1 map) to a secret location with loot (usually valuable items) or something else ;). The locations are far away and therefore you'll need some transportation. The loot may be guarded by enemy AI, so be careful!

Are there vehicles on this server? Where and how can I get one?

Yes there are all kinds of vehicles on this server. They are spread around the Panau City, all civillian cities and airports. Look for them in parking lots, gas stations and other locations. You will need lockpicks to unlock the vehicles. See Vehicles Section of this guide.

I am stuck in a wall, building, underground etc. How can I get out?

Type /suicide in chat to suicide back to the safezone. You will not lose any items. If you don't spawn in the safezone, close the game completely and join after a few minutes.

When I leave the server, is anything saved?

Yes, your position, inventory, equipped items, vehicles, stashes, building materials etc. are all saved where you left them. Note that vehicles despawn 2 minutes after you leave. When you return, open Vehicle Manager and press spawn button to spawn them back.

Is this DayZ?

No, this is Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod. But this gamemode is similar to DayZ

Where can I follow development of the server and give feedback, suggestions and report bugs?

You can do all of the above on the official JC2-MP Forums under the Survival District topic: http://www.jc-mp.com/forums/index.php/topic,4859.0.html
Gameplay Objectives
  • Find food, weapons and supplies to survive!
  • Steal other players' loot or work together for better chance of survival
  • Claim land in Panau to build your home or base with supply stashes and vehicles!
Remember that Survival District is a very hostile environment. You will get killed on sight 90% of the time. You will drop some (or all) of your items on death, and end up back where you started. So I would suggest if you are a new player to stay within the safezone and neutralzone until you have enough weapons and supplies (especially grapplehook!) to venture outside.

If you are trying to get out of the city, remember there are multiple ways to exit the city. Taking obvious routes like the road to the International Airport is not recommended. IMO the safest exit is through air or a boat.
Safezone
If you join the server for the first time or die, you will re/spawn in an area called Safezone where:
  • You cannot fire weapons, throw grenades, use or set off explosives or use grapplehook melee.
  • You cannot be killed by other players
  • You cannot place your stashes
  • You are not allowed to fire at players inside the safezone from the outside
  • You are not allowed to bring any vehicle inside. Doing so will slowly damage your vehicle and eventually get destroyed
  • You can see player name tags. Name tags of players 200m outside the safezone are also visible (to protect inside players from spawn campers)

Neutral Zone
Killing players near the safezone is discouraged and to protect players, safezone has a Neutral Zone in which if you kill a player, you will get killed by safezone protection. The accuracy of the protection decreases as you move away from the safezone. The transparency of the [Neutral Zone] text on top of your screen indicates this.

Player Model Changer
The ring of fire inside the safezone is a model changer that allows you to change the look of your character. There are 8 model changers in total, of which 7 are located in the Financial District (starting city). Each model changer has unique list of characters.

Fun facts:
  • The red lights marking boundary of the safezone have collision meaning they are solid objects and you can be injured or killed if you are not careful while falling down or flying through the safezone.

  • Safezone is 248m wide

Player Inventory
Basics

Hold down G key to access your Inventory.

Inventory is divided into four sections:

  1. Weapons
  2. Explosives
  3. Supplies
  4. Survival

It also expands to show your Health, Food and Water levels and also health of your equipped gear such as Helmets and Vests

  • To equip an item in your inventory, simply click on the item and a small circle will appear on the top left of the item slot.

  • To arrange items within their respective slots, click on the up and down arrows on the right of the item slot. Right clicking on the up or down arrow moves the item to the top or bottom respectively.

  • To drop items from inventory right click on the item(s) and let go G key. If the item is stacked and you want to drop only a certain amount, right click then left click or use mousewheel to the choose amount.

  • To switch through the items in a stack, use scroll wheel while hovering your mouse over the item stack.

Inventory Size

  • The top of each slot shows how many items are in it and also how many items the slot can hold.

  • Each slot of the inventory can hold a certain number of items depending on the following:
    • What level the player is (levelling up gives you extra slots)
    • What item(s) are equipped that increase inventory size, e.g. Backpacks and/or Military Vest

  • In the above image, 6 is the number of weapons you have in the slot. 4 is the default capacity of the slot and +2 is the extra item capacity given by inventory increasing items such as backpacks, vests or leveling up.
Loot, Lootboxes and Player loot
All items in this gamemode can be aquired by looting. Loot is spread around the whole map of Panau. Press F2 to open the Loot Map that shows which locations contain loot.

What is Loot?

Loot is a collection of items found in a lootbox. The items contained in a lootbox are completely random and change everytime the lootbox respawns. If you find a certain item in a lootbox, it may not be there the next time it respawns.

Each item has a certain drop chance, for example a parachute may have a 3% chance of being in a level 4 box.

Where can I find lootboxes?

Lootboxes are "hidden" around the cities, airports, etc. The best way to get a feel for where lootboxes might be is to go out and explore. Look around corners, trees, statues, gas stations etc.

How often do the loot/lootboxes spawn?

The spawnrate is dynamic depending on the number of players. It is also different for every level lootbox. Exact respawn rate is not known.

Lootboxes
  • To open a lootbox, point at it until you see a green dot, then press E.
  • To pickup item(s), left click on the item. If you want to pick one from a stack, right click on the item stack.

Player Drop & Loot
  • When you die, you lose some (or all) items from each slot of your Inventory.

  • The items are dropped completely randomly. You may lose your best item or your worst.

  • The amount of items you drop depends on the following:

    • What level you are. A level 1-4 player loses 1 item per slot for a total of 4 items. A level 5-9 player loses 2 items per slot for a total of 8 items and so on. See Levels section of his guide for details.

    • Whether you dropped your equipped backpack or military vest. These items give you extra slots in your inventory. When you drop one or both of these items, the extra items they allowed you to carry will be also be dropped. The extra slots are at the bottom. So any items on the bottom of your inventory will be dropped. This is called Overload drop

  • When you drop items or die, the dropped items end up in a player lootbox. The player lootbox disappears in 1 hour unless it is picked up.

  • Dropping and picking up player loot is the only way to trade items in the game. Be careful when trading as anyone can pickup your dropped items.

Designated contaminated areas (such as cape carnival) and fallout from tactical nukes causes radiation damage. After entering a contaminated area, radiation effects you in three steps:
  • Food and water consumption increases
  • You lose the ability to sprint, stuntjump and do melee attacks
  • You lose the ability to use grapple and your health starts to decrease until you die.

Nukes contaminate the area for 2 minutes. The intensity of contamination depends on the distance to the center and time passed.

To regain your abilities and prevent dying from radiation, leave the area until the damage indicators on the top right go away or take radiation pills to slow the damage. Don't let the radiation go to 3rd step or you will most like die (pills won't help) and not be able to run to safety because of no grapple.

Stashes
Press F8 to open the Stash Manager

  • To open a stash, point at it until you see a green dot, then press E

  • To put items in a stash, point at it until you see a green dot. Then drop the items from your inventory and they will go into the stash.

Stashes allows you to store any item from your inventory. You are allowed to have up to 15 stashes (depending on your level). There are four types of stashes:

Box Stashes
  • Allows you to store up to 8 items.
  • Can be stacked up to 3
  • Items can be taken out, put in and arranged by anyone
  • Can be destroyed by any explosive.

  • Locked stashes can be opened by other players using the Stash Hacker item
  • Owner gets a notification if the stash is destroyed by someone

Stash Manager
You can manage your stashes in the Stash Manager. You can rename, locate, check quantity, remove (permanently) and dismount your stashes.

Dismounting a stash:
Dismounting a stash will change the stash into a player lootbox containing all the items, including the stash itself. Dismounting the stash is not reversible and should be used with care. Once you dismount a stash, it will disappear in 1 hour unless it is picked up. Be warned - anyone can pick up a dismounted stash.

Placing Tips:
  • Place your stash where you think no one will just come across it. Try to hide it well.
  • Do not place your stashes near lootboxes, they will get stolen from.
  • Do not place all your stashes at one location, unless you are extremely confident that they are safe. It may be convenient, but not smart.
  • Do not place it in the middle of the road. If someone hits it, their car will get damaged or destroyed, and your stash most likely blown up. Stashes placed on roads will be removed by staff.
Vehicles
Press F7 to open Vehicle Manager

Survival District contains all kind of land, sea and air vehicles. You can own up to 15 vehicles (depending on your level).

Where can you find a vehicle?

Vehicles spawn at all civilian cities, most airports and some other locations. If you are a beginner, you can find what you're looking for quickly at these locations:

  • Land and sea vehicles in Panau City (in all four districts). You can find them scattered around in parking lots, gas stations and docks and other locations.

  • Armed vehicles rarely in City1 (Parks district) and City2 (Residential district).

  • Airplanes and helicopters in the Panau International Airport

  • Armed Airplanes and helicopters in the Desert Airport.

How can you buy or steal a vehicle?
  • An unowned vehicle has a blue dot, owned (by other players) vehicles have a red dot and the vehicles you own have a green dot.

  • To buy/unlock a vehicle, simply have enough lockpicks required by the vehicle in your inventory, and get in it. You will unlock the vehicle and it will show up in the vehicle manager (F7). The vehicle is yours permanently until it is destroyed, transferred, stolen or removed.

  • To steal a vehicle (one with a red dot) you will need 3 times as many lockpicks than its original price (at 100% health). If the vehicle is damaged, it will require fewer lockpicks. The player whose vehicle you steal will get a notification that you stole their car, so be careful!

  • An unowned vehicle have a randomized health between 50-100%

How much do they cost?

They can range from 1 lockpick all the way to 20 and sometimes 50 lockpicks to unlock.

Bikes range from 1-4 lockpicks
Cars range from 2-5 lockpicks
Helicopters range from 10-50 lockpicks
Planes range from 4-20 lockpicks

Which vehicles are not on the server?
  • Vanderbildt LeisureLiner
  • SV-1003 Raider
  • (DLC) Monster Truck
  • (DLC) Chevalier Classic
  • (DLC) Tuk Tuk Boom Boom
  • (DLC) Chevalier Ice Breaker
  • Hedge Wildchild
  • YP-107 Phoenix
  • Orque Living 42T
  • Trat Tang-mo
  • Kuang Sunrise
  • (DLC) Agency Hovercraft
  • Winstons Amen 69
  • MTA Powerrun 77
  • (DLC) F-33 DragonFly Jet Fighter
  • AH-33 Topachula (occasional temporary spawns - more information below!)

The AH-33 Topachula is a special vehicle, and only spawns once at a time, in a random location. When a player purchases the Topachula, it will NOT spawn in the same location again. After some time, server staff will then replace the vehicle in a new single-spawn in another random location.

Currently, a AH-33 Topachula spawn point does not exist somewhere in Panau.

Vehicle Repair
  • Land vehicles can be repaired at any gas station in Panau. Simply drive into one and the vehicle will start to repair.

  • Helicopters can be repaired at any gas station by landing it on top of it.

  • Airplanes can be repaired at any airport hangar except the International Airport and Desert Airport.

  • Boats can repaired at any naval gas station or the docks in the Docks District in Panau City.

  • All vehicles can also be repaired using the Vehicle Repair item.
Note:
Only vehicle repair item can repair your vehicle visually. Any of the other repair methods above only set the health of your vehicle to 100%. To repair it visually, move away from your vehicle at least 1km then come back.

What happens to your vehicle after you leave the server?
  • Your vehicle will despawn 2 minutes after you leave the server (unless it is being used by a friend), meaning it will no longer be present on the server for other players to discover.

  • When you rejoin the server, open the Vehicle Manager (F7) and press spawn. Your vehicle will spawn where you or your friend last left it, and not at your position.
Friends
Press F6 to open the Player List

You can add other players as friends using the Player List. It has three highlight states:

Green: Both you and your friend have added each other
Orange: Your friend added you, but you didn't add them back (your advantage)
Red: You added someone but they didn't add you back (your disadvantage)

Adding other players as friends (highlighted green) will:
  • Let them see your nametag and health bar.
  • Let them see you on the minimap located on top left corner
  • Allow them to access your locked stash (depending on the mode the locked stash is set to)
  • Allow them to enter and use your vehicles, even if you are offline.
  • Allow them to build on your claimed land
  • Allow them to open your doors. Make sure you only add trustworthy friends!

  • This does not disable friendly fire. All your weapons and explosives will damage or kill them. They cannot trigger your mines, but if they are triggered, they will receive damage.

Note:
When you add someone in the player list, it makes you visible to them, but they will not be visible to you unless they add you also (highlighted red). Therefore you should only add someone if they also add you (highlighted green). Otherwise you can be easily seen and possibly killed and/or robbed from your stashes.
Levels
You can level up by killing other players. There is both rewards and punishment for levelling. The reward for levelling up is not significant, you only gain more of what you have and can do. A level 1 player has access to all items that a level 100 would have, just in less quantity.

The higher level you are the more items you will drop on death. You have to think of the risk vs. reward before you start killing.

10 kills = 1 Level
  • You start at level 1 with 0 kills and killing 10 players will get you to level 2, another 10 to level 3 and so on.

Land Claims & Build Mode
How to get started?

You need to find these four items first: LandClaim, Bed, Door and Walls.

Other items: Light, stool, chair, vase, umbrella, fence, cone, plant, barrier, helipad.

What is a LandClaim?
  • LandClaim is an item which is found only in Level 4 boxes. It is an ultra rare item and it can take several hours to find.

  • The LandClaim randomly spawns with a size ranging from 20x20m to 100x100m and very rarely up to 200x200m.

  • Currently it doesn't show the boundaries of your LandClaim before you claim your land. So you have to take a guess at the extent of the area you will claim. You can however see the claim boundaries after you have claimed your land.

  • Once you have a LandClaim, go to the place you would like to claim and click on the item. A progress bar will show up and after few seconds you will have claimed your land!

  • Note that there are protected areas where you cannot claim land. See below.

  • You can manage your claims in the Claims Manager by pressing F9

Walls, Doors, Beds, light and other items.

  • To place these items, go to your claimed land, then click on the item. Placing instructions will appear on screen.

  • To pickup, reinforce or move the items, right click on them and choose the desired action.

  • These items are visible to any player and can be destroyed. See below.

  • You can only place 2500 objects as of now.

Walls:
Can be used to build walls, floor, roof, stairs or anything else by rotating it in any direction. It takes 4 C4's or 10 claymores to destroy. Walls can now be reinforced. Right click and choose reinforce, it will use up walls from your inventory.

Doors:
Can be used as doorways or hatches for roofs or basements. Open and close the door by pressing E while pointing at it. Only you and your friends can open your doors. It takes 2 C4's or 10 claymores to destroy

Beds:
Beds can be set as your default spawn point. After placing your bed, right click on it and select 'Set as spawn'. Now everytime you suicide or die, you will spawn on your bed instead of the safezone. It takes 1 C4's to destroy. Beds cannot be placed underwater.

Light:
Light can be placed anywhere on your land. Press E while pointing at it to turn it on and off. It can be destroyed by 1 claymore (or 1 C4).

Build protection:
Walls and doors will provide protection against explosives such as grenades, mines, triggered explosives and airstrikes. There is a chance of taking damage from gaps between doors or walls.

Protected Areas

Some areas such as cities, airports, lost island and some other places where there is significant amount of loot are protected and cannot be claimed by players. This is done so that players can loot without building stuff getting in the way. Think of it like a protected habitat for the looters :D. See the no-claim map below:

Landclaim Expiry

Every new landclaim has an lifespan of 30 days.

To extend the lifespan of your claim, simply use another LandClaim item on top of it. This will give your claim an extension of a certain number of days.

If you are using a LandClaim of size X metres to extend the lifespan of an existing LandClaim of size Y metres, then the number of extra days you get will be: (X / Y) * 30 days

For Example:
  • If you renew a 100m LandClaim with a 100m claim, you will get a 30-day extension, because (100 / 100) * 30 = 30 days.
  • If you renew a 100m LandClaim with a 50m claim, then you will get a 15-day extension, because (50 / 100) * 30 = 15 days.
  • If you renew a 50m LandClaim with a 100m claim, then you will get a 60-day extension, because (100 / 50) * 30 = 60 days.
...and so on.

You can renew your friends' LandClaims as well as your own.

If your claim expires, other players will be able to claim it and edit and steal the build items you placed.

Claims Manager

You can manage your claims by pressing F9. The claims manager allows you get the size, coordinates, expiry and transfer and remove your claims. It also allows you to toggle the visibility (to your friends) of your claim boundary ingame.
Events
Sometimes there will be ServerEvents hosted across the server for anyone to join in and play. They add a different aspect to the survival-based gameplay and offer the chance for players to compete, have fun and win prizes! Some events are fully-competitive, with every player fighting to beat everyone else. Other events are team-based, where players are encouraged to work together to succeed.

Event Types:
There are various types of events, each offering a different challenge. Listed here are all the event types which have been run so far.

Free-For-All Events:
  • Maze
Players must navigate an obstacle course to get to the loot. But they must get back out without being killed by other players.
  • Deathmatch
Classic fights to the death, usually using armed vehicles as the weapons. The last player standing is the winnner!
  • Treasure Hunt
Travel all over the map, one checkpoint at a time, until you reach the end of the hunt. These may include clues or riddles to help you find the next checkpoint.
  • Race
Self-explanatory - racers leave from the same starting point, and the first racer to the finish line is the winner. But your vehicle MUST arrive intact!
  • Rampage
Get transported to a secret location FULL of loot... along with everyone else.
  • Scavenger Hunt (trial)
Players must hunt around a certain area to find items of value. Find the most items to win the event. Killing may or may not be allowed, depending upon the event location. (This is a trial event type and may be discontinued in the future)
Team-Based Events:
  • Relay
Similar to the free-for-all races, but players pair up, and must take it in turns to reach checkpoints.
  • Deathmatch
Another classic, but with team-based battles. The more teammates left standing, the more you win.
  • Arena
Deathmatch with a twist. Players each get a car and must knock all enemy cars off the edge of an arena in the sky.

Prizes:
All events include prizes for the winner(s) and these are handed out at the end. Prizes can include items and unique vehicles, and can be worth anywhere between 20 - 1,000 lockpicks! The bigger the event, the bigger the prize! And since almost all events are free to join, there's no reason not to play!

Suggestions and Questions:
To keep improving the events for everyone, suggestions are always welcome! If you have any ideas on new event types, or ideas for new prizes, let us know! And if you have any questions about events, we'd love to hear them! For suggestions and questions, feel free to contact Rexun on the JC-MP forum: here[www.jc-mp.com]

"How do we find out about any upcoming events?"
As well as big events, there are sometimes smaller giveaways held on the server. These smaller giveaways don't normally have any warning, so you won't hear about them unless you happen to be in the server when they are held.
For the bigger events with bigger prizes, details will be posted on:
  • The top of this Guide, in the "Upcoming ServerEvents" section
  • The Survival District forum thread here[www.jc-mp.com]

It's has been an entire year and the current owner/admin of the former Survival District server has seemingly decided to hold onto what was inherited and did not make any progress that we know of to bring the server back. Furthermore, it has been strongly suggested to me that the new owner needs help fixing some code but has Decided to not seek help...There are excellent developers still around, trusted, respected and talented in the community.

We ask you join the jc-mp.com forum and help voice your opinions, suggestions or ideas.
