POI's and Permanent items to find while climbing Kami [WIP]
By Steve
Locations + Items and where to find them in order.

The important permanent items that can help your climb start in chapter 4. Before that its mostly Consumables and 2 bottles.

I will go over all Interesting POI's i know of and the more important items to find there and just some Lore flavor things i found.
simple consumables might get a side mention.

I included break spots since im not sure if they are needed for an achievement.

Obvious things wont get mentioned, unless they are of high value to freeclimb runs.

Happy to hear comments of stuff that i didnt find and update accordinglyy

Climbing Gym Tenzen
Small Water bottle on the floor

5x Pocket change around to buy things with

Some of these items are hidden on top of the climbing walls

A Piton near the way out

On top of the 7-8-3 Wall theres the Tenzen Keepsake and another screw in Piton to pick up
(I believe its where i circled it red but im not 100% and it cant be found again once picked up)

After beating every difficulty level of wall in the Gym you will unlock the Box at the End

Giving you a couple of items and the Beekepers map which will help you climb and guide you to a POI in the future.

You will find a lot of consumables plants to cook with on your first real climb if you explore the fields a bit.

Some of the more notable finds here are the Resting spot on the base of the climb

and the Eggs and Honey found in a cave

Other than that just climb to the top and you are done with Tutorial Mountain.
Base of Kami
The first somewhat noteworthy thing is This hill on the right which has a Resting spot and a backpack with some stuff.

In this area the Beekeeper map comes in handy
(it is opened by Scoping the wall [tab on m&k] and pressing the button to check the map [T] you can also free fly around in this mode [ALT] just in case anyone didnt know.)

It shows you the some noteworthy locations of consumables and more importantly it can give you a good idea on which routes to take since it shows you their difficulty via their colour.

Somewhat hidden in the middle is a Chasm which leads to the Beekeepers hideout mentioned on the map

Inside you will find the Recipe for SuperHoney
1x Super gentian Honey
2x Honey dippers
And a load of lore items

Going up the right side of the mountain there is a little lore bit we will see more of along the way

Climbing up on the left side you will find a crashed Crable car Cabin and a dead climber.
The dead climber has some Lore with a Map attached for later.

The Next POI's are best reachable from the next plateau

First to the bottom one, you can easily rappel yourself down there. On the way you will find another Lore message by Adam

Inside the cave it just a resting spot, a mushroom and some thistles to the left in front.

The other cave mentioned cave has some fun drawings a few consumables and lets you refill your water

The next Part is a bit more complicated so i will put it in a new Section
Cable Car Station/Research Camp
As mentioned before This section of the climb Splits into different paths you can take, easily missing the other half.

Looking up from the last Savepoint There will be quite a lot to see and possible Routes, ill draw my route into the next picture and Number them for reference. But you can also reverse the order starting from 1 then going to 7 etc.

At Point 1 below the ridge you will find a note and some trash to recycle inside a garbage can. The note tells you about another POI we will see later. This is also the location of the map we found on the dead climber.

Point 2 is a Memorial of Climbers that died climbing Kami. Nothing here except some nice worldbuilding.

Point 3 is the Wildlife researcher camp.

  • Here you will find a fresh water source
  • a savepoint
  • a small refillable water bottle
  • a lot of consumables
  • A recipe
  • Some Lore
Dont try to make the jump to the telescope climb if you wanna get there. On the telescope platform is just a protein bar, piton scraps and a plastic bag. Not really worth it other than for the telescope lore bit.

Also the Anti bear Basket is non interactable, trust me i tried.

Point 4 is a Fish farm inside a tunnel which will allow us to reach the other side of the mountain and go to the other POI's easily.

Theres a savepoint, a recipe for Cave style trout in the middle and some powdered milk so you can try out the recipe with the Fish you are able to catch here!

If you want to you can just climb up from here and continue upwards but i will be rappling down to the Cable car station.

Point 5 the station you find a recipe for Tourist trap noodles
Theres a good amount of ressources and lore around here so its always worth a visit.
On the middle level of the station is a bird egg and some explanation why the lift was discontinued, on top theres some drawings and the break spot but thats it.

Point 6 Here we will descend. you might be able to stay clipped in all the way through this section if you rapple down nearer to the cave entrance but im not 100% sure
theres only a letter, a savepoint and some trash down here.

Point 7 is the Rave Cave, one of the coolest locations.
Inside you will find a lot of trash. Some decent food and drinks.and some fireworks you can fire off at a break spot.

Thats is all for here. Now its time to climb all your way back to the top.
Troglodyte Village
This section is where things get more interesting and you can find a load of items that will permanently help you with climbing.

The first thing you can do is Fish inside the Waterfall to stock up on some more food.
at the top of the slope is a rest spot

Next are the troglodyte homes.

1. Is the childrens room, in here you will find a cooling pot with some stuff and namely a letter from Rody
This letter will lead you to the Thermos bottle later in this section so you should grab it

2.Going up the stairs into 2 you can easily miss the backpack on the bed to your left.
Theres a load of consumables and lore in here so i wont go over them. take your time and take a look around.

Going left into the dining hall/bedroom you will be able to find a recipe for porridge. mixing oats with milk.
Straight ahead from the entrance is the first permanent equipment item you can find, The Glowing gloves.

Inside the Crystal room you will have to climb your way up

At the top you can find a bed and some more cave. at the end of this cave you can find the gloves!
I saw people overlook the blue glowing gloves since the open backpack UI overwrites the pickup when near make sure to pick them up.

After that you can clear the rocks and crawl through. On the other side to your right you will find a bathroom with a savespot and the Troglodyte Map at the top which will come incredibly handy for the next steps.
Thats all here. Climb your way to the next plateau.
Behind where you will climb up there is a break Spot and to the left of you there will be a saving spot.

There is a lot to see loot and climb here so it might get a bit complicated.
Thankfully we found the Troglodyte Village map which will help plan a route to the 3 doll parts and everything inbetween.
You can very much freeform your way around this area but its usefull to remember that once you climbed high its easier to rapple down to other POI's that are below to the side of you.
Its hard to say which way is the best so ill just list spots.

  • 1. All you can find here is a backpack and some foreshadowing of the Statues you will see. One of them right here on the plateau

  • 2. Is the Shepard lady. Theres a lot of Goats you can milk for drinks and overall a lot of supplies you can take around. Inside you will trigger a cutscene with the shepard. To the left in a little alcove you will find a chime keepsake and a recipe
in the center theres a bunch of good consumables to find and a small water flask in the cooling pot

Following the goat lady up her stairs you can hand over the letter we found in the troglodyte kids room and she will reward you with the Thermos Can It can hold 2 drinks and keeps them infinitely hot.

on the right is just a goat and a savepoint.
That is all whats here i believe.

  • 3. is another Bear cave.On the top left you can see another Bird message.
Inside the cave is A Toad you can lick if you manage to find it for a keepsake and some honey at the roof. Other than that its just corpses.

  • 4. The base of the big Statue.
4.1 The wildlife researches tent, torn apart by a bear. Theres a backpack here and a camera with some photos and a voice recording.
4.2 just a Lore letter and a room full of Stone figures.
4.3 Fires that you gotta ignite on your way up the Statue to unlock whats inside.
4.4 Entrance to the Statue. Climbing up the Statues legs is not that easy, chalk up!

When entering the Statue you gotta cross a long Chasm. Dont bother going down there its just a backpack with 1 piece of dried meat.
Some of the holds you need along the wall you gotta climb across to reach the other side are quite hard to see so turn your light on and turn the camera a bit if you down know where to grab next

If you ignited both fires on your way to the top and reach the other side the statue will ignite and the room will light up. To your right is a cooling pot with a small flask of booze.
At the end of the room there is your prize. The Troglodyte Piton
Its indestructible and can be screwed into dense rock
Now its time to get out of there again. Dont forget to save!

  • 5. Part 3 of the Troglodyte Doll
  • 6. Part 2 of the Doll
  • 7. is a savepoint and a message
  • 8. Is Doll part 1. Its inside the cave

Collecting all 3 doll parts gives you the Troglodyte doll! a 3 Use item that clears any negative weather effects.
I gotta cut the next stage of the ridge in half since you cant zoom out far enough to show the entire length of it

Top left of the ridge

  • 1. Just a cave with a toad inside you can lick for a keepsake.
  • 2. Is another Bird message left behind

  • 3. 2 little Stonemen. Theres a 4 space Bottle of booze and some Fireworks.

  • 4. The top middle of the ridge savepoint
Theres a lot of Lore here and notably the Big chalk bag
also theres a bear proof box with some supplies

Top right of the ridge
  • 1. just a small refillable water bottle and some trash.
  • 2. Lore robot and backpack with stuff
  • 3. A dead Climber, achievement for looting him
  • 4.The middle savepoint again for reference
Thats all here afaik
Troglodyte burial grounds
Welcome to the next big chapter. It starts slow but soon there will be lots of stuff to find.

It starts of with you being able to loot this lake to your hearts content.
theres a few plants around and a load of fish.
Theres also a resting spot at the lake

Not much for a bit until you come up to a hill

  • 1. a research camp where you can find a recipe for maple fudge some supplies, and rappling down you can also loot their climbing bot with some more stuff
  • 2. a save spot and a message
  • 3. just another bear cave like all the other ones we've seen before :)
Inside you will find a cropse with some stuff and a Survival Blanket
just take it slow and you will be fine
  • 4. After that its time to get out of here

The next one is pretty hidden but will lead you to some good stuff namely a 6slot water cannister and the second troglodyte piton
you might wanna head up first to save, but go back down to the bridge again for the extra loot

you will need a good amount of space for the water container so make some room.
Once you get there you can only make more room while on a piton since you will have to loot it while climbing.
Rapple down to the rock with the red ropes around it, there is a pre placed piton for you to clip in.
climb around it to the left until you find the backpack with the big water cannister

Next you will have to get down to one of the 3 marked openings they all lead to the same place so it doesnt matter much. Rappling is the easiest way, good luck getting this as a Free solo player.

Once inside you will be in a central room with a saving point
Straight ahead from the central room you will find the second Piton in the room with the upside down tree.

Back in the central room its time to look up and figure out how to get out of here again. Its fairly obvious which way you gotta go, even the wind is showing you the direction.

Once up you will be able to clear the rocks and crawl out of here back to where you started rappling down. Following the stairs further up from there you will end up in the Troglodyte burial grounds.
Very cool room but not much in here besides lore and the savepoint

1.from there you can choose which window to climb to. Pick whichever you prefer they lead to the same rooms. not much in terms of items here but on the left you will find a map that can easily be missed since its surrounded by trash.

2. next you can either climb up further from the outside to the next window or make your way up from the inside which is a lot safer.
You will find a savespot in here

next head down the stairs, on the way there you will find a crystal shard at the bottom marker, take it with you. After we are done with the room at the bottom you will climb up

Entering the room at the bottom you will find a "friendly" npc. and 3 Crystal shards.
Handing over all 4 crystal shards to the miner. This will delete the excess findable crystal shards and net you the Small windmill an item that warns you about incoming gusts of wind

Climb up outside of the crystal room and you will end up in the miners encampment
here you can find a savepoint, a recipe for hunters mushroom and some lore.

going down the well you can find the miners past victims and the Big flask on the orange climber corpse. This is a 6 size water container replacing your flask. Note that your previous flask with its content will be placed into your backpack.

3. Climb back out of the wall and look up the entrance of the room your are in, thats where we will be going next. Theres only 1 way to go from and it involves a lot of crawling and some Spiders.
Make it through and you will end up at spot 3 Not much here besides a savepoint.

4. To the left of you is another savepoint and a letter of nostalgia.

Use the savepoint here or the one back inside and prepare yourself for a decently long climb coming up going past the chalk lines. Take a look at the map to see which route you might wanna take up. Nothing here just you and the wall.
Along the way a cutscene will play.

You can find a preplaced piton here which you for sure wanna grab on free solo runs. it will barely reach the POI here and you will most likely have to disconnect to reach the loot inside.
the upper circle is a not screwed in piton you can pick up.

The map also reveals the location of where the climbot sent out a distress signal. On the top right of it you can find a cave. This is a hard climb, buff up.
Inside is a safe spot, water and corpses. At the human corpse you can find a Lynx origami and the beat up climbing bot. Not sure what the lynx origami is for yet but the climbing bot has some raisins and a big Solar thermos can that can hold 3 liquid and is holding 2 strong infusion. It will also heat up anything put inside.

Time to get back out of the cave and get back on track climbing past the 2 pitons to the ledge at the top.

SPOILERS
Reaching that wooden ledge at the top will force you to drink all non alcoholic beverages from your inventory so there is no need to try and save them up

Again getting up to that ledge isnt easy so you will wanna buff up.
Reaching it will reward you with quite the cutscene though!
The Dome
Not much here at the start besides a cutscene with marco So ill start a bit further up.

Theres a climbers corpse on the left with some fruit jelly and climbing tape in case you are short.
Inside the chamber will be a recipe for mountain rice. rice + intense infusion.
a savepoint
an opportunity to fill up your water
and 3 lightable fires depending on which of the indicated paths you are.
And a break point on top of the dome
Spoilers
I dont think the fires really do anything other than the one on the left triggering a cutscene?

after that its just going to the right
You will can find another climbers corpse on the way over the rocks.
Theres a pack of instant coffee and maple syrup on him.
after that you will find a rock thats gonna be your next climb.
There is a savepoint a bit hidden behind it
on your way up you will find another break point
Right next to that is a little room with a corpse that has the edelweiss growing out of it.

after getting to the top and crossing the bridge theres a birds nest inside the little outcropping and you can see 3 corpses haning from a rope below you and their climbot holding them up
they got some food stuff chalk/climbing tape and a 4 slot bottle with some booze

Reaching the top of the next climb you will meet marco again.
Climbing up after that cutscene for a bit you will find a backpack in front of a window.
it contains a bit of medicine and a handwritten letter.
On the other side of this window are some fireworks

Going up and into the doorway to the left you will see a little lizard guy, interacting with him will give you 3 mushrooms.

Going further inside the cave you can see a savepoint below you at the base of the waterfall

Climbing further up you will find the third Statues head and inside is the third Troglodyte Ption to the left.
Climbing up the little mini mountain in the middle of the room will give you the "I did it!" achievement.
Coming out climb a bit up to the right and theres the next savepoint.

After that its time to get back out again and continue your climb on the outside mountain wall.
At the top you can see a spire to the left and to the right of you.

The one on the left has a savepoint but i didnt see much reason to go there.

On the right theres also a savepoint inside, a little message at the kite (which you let loose for an achievement.)
A backpack below and another breakpoint when climbing a bit further up.

after you've done everything here its time to climb back down and cross the Bridge where you will meet Marco again.

After the cutscenes you can walk around a bit and read about the old man. Make sure to go back to the Backpack room if you picked up the lynx charm in the cave with the dead bear.
You are able to place it in here for the "In memoriam" achievement.

You will also be able to pick up a lot of consumables in here. If you want to attempt the climb that is.

Meeting up with marco you will be faced with the decision if you want to continue your climb, or go down with him.

ENDING SPOILERS
Deciding to go back home with marco will end the game and bring to you the credits scene picturing you and marco making your way down together and aava being back home with naomi. This will unlock the "Home" achievement.

if you decide to do this you will still be able to load your last savegame and attempt the climb anyway.

If you decide to continue your climb first you wont be able to see the going home scene and will have to do another climb for it.

Lighting the fire on the right in the Dome gives you a Keepsake for your backpack

There's a backpack surrounded by origami animals in the "graveyard" at Damas Al Fatri's place. Placing the lynx origami there gets you an achievement.

just went up there, it has a juniper, gentian, a nettle and a regular piton. Probably not worth going there but a cool find

In the Trog burial grounds, where the camp site you have marked as number two. If you climb pretty much straight up from there to the left of the bear cave and right of the progression area you'll be able to find a climbers bag. Personally haven't gotten to it so I don't know what's in it.

That's kinda sad they never added upgrade for the rope. Not like it's very usefull, but still

Yeah, I made it a habit to explore the few pits, as it's easy enough to rappel down (when you're not in free solo mode) and climb back up with no risk. You can also scout ahead with the camera if you set it to display your path (which is massively more controllable and longer range than the default eagle-eye camera; you can scout a good portion of the level when it's in the alt mode, it almost feels like cheating).
Steve  [author] 31 Jan @ 2:16pm
Oh you can climb down that pit? I didnt try that. I stopped my real playthrough halfway to start this one for running around and taking screenshots
Furious Fred 31 Jan @ 2:08pm
In the rave cave underneath the cable car station, there's a poor soul who fell down the pit near the entrance. The only thing I remember them having is a small (2 portion capacity) refillable bottle full of booze, but it's a nice find for early-climb fluid containers.

Inside the first statue you can climb in the Trogolodyte Village, with the two fires leading up to its head, you can get an unbreakable piton by the end. If you got a letter from Rory (or whatever their name is, from the previous section where you meet Marco and get the climbing gloves) you can get a thermos from the hermit by giving her the letter.

If theres something cool you found that i missed let me know!
