you need to install the game to be able to enjoy it, so install it

half-life source is a bad port made by valve in 2004, used to be remotely enjoyable, but now valve updated it in 2013 and released a unfinished port to steampipe into the release depot, along with caning the steampipe project

step 4: play the original half-life

you can't really beat the original, they did break the game slightly, but that's more on the modding side of the engine

tell valve to roll back both half-life source and half-life deathmatch source, as it's completely broken and no one needs to deal with it, there's also stolen skins from gamebanana installed because valve doesnt care about this game to even fix it

Except Black Mesa certainly didn't beat the original in any way other than graphics. Even then, it lost all the stylization and charm of the original.

So it would appear to me that, in my situation, I fuck around with source files for an hour so I don't wanna shoot myself trying to use vanilla HL1 Shotgun, OR, I just don't play HL at all.
