Is CE running slowly on your NVidia card? Look here first. *note for AMD users*

*edit* Don't like reading? I made a YouTube video of the entire contents of this guide:

Most modern computers have two GPU's: the one that's built-in (typically Intel HD 4000), and the better one you actually paid for (e.g. NVidia, or AMD).

Crappy game performance is sometimes the result of Clockwork Empires using the wrong GPU - the Intel HD can barely handle it, if it runs at all. This is because your computer is confused about which GPU to use. If you have an NVidia card, you can tell it to use the right one instead.

*edit* AMD brethren, I suspect you may sometimes suffer the same problem - it may be Catalyst's 'Switchable Graphics' picking the wrong GPU. You can do most of the same stuff in the Catalyst Control Center. This dude (not my video) shows the steps in his YouTube video.

Start at 3:16. http://youtu.be/X8KqkZ5mTpw?t=3m16s

If the processor selection box is grayed out, it's possible your computer is running in a low-power mode. Make sure your computer isn't running in 'power-saver' or 'economy' mode, and check the Control Panel again.

The instructions here apply to NVidia Control Panel. AMD has a similar Catalyst control panel.

Given what you've already tried, the only thing I can suggest is making sure your video drivers are up to date. A better place to discuss possible problems and solutions is actually the Gaslamp Games official forum:

https://community.gaslampgames.com/

It'll be easier to diagnose your issue there.

Sorry, i know this thread's a bit old but i've just purchased the game and i'm getting the same issue as others have said of just showing a black screen on starting a game. I've tried the settings through NVidia control and it's definitely set on the right one. I'm not on a Sony but it is a laptop.
My specs are:
Intel Core I7 4700 MQ
NVidia GeForce GTX 765M.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Are you playing in a laptop? Is it a Sony Vaio? (see the comment about Sony Vaio, below)

I have the same issue. I try to launch a new game and when it starts I can see nothing on the map. I see the GUI and the smash of all the crates but all the terrain goes black again. I have gone and set my settings as instructed above. I am using a Nvidia GTX 645.

abit late, but setting the game on windowed mode also helps reduce lag.
Atleast for me anyways.

Yah its NVidia

Hm, what video card do you have in your computer? I'm assuming you have something from NVidia, or you probably wouldn't have the NVidia Control Panel installed. Unfortunately, your System Information only shows your on-board GPU (i.e. the Intel one).

Just to double-check - some computers let you change the power profile in the Windows Control Panel, and some have a physical switch (Sony Vaio, for instance) which toggles it on and off. Make sure that's not the case.

Otherwise, please post your computer specs here and maybe that'll give me a hint.
