1 Person Escape Pod

This craft has thusters in only one direction because it has a very narrow purpose - rapid escape from the area of its host craft. This one-person escape pod is therefore very compact, light, and has a high acceleration rate. The pod is meant to be maneuvered into position on a larger ship with a tug, and then clamped on with its landing gear.

It is just the right size to be clamped up against an exit door on a large ship, and its hull design is meant to blend into the larger design flow of its host ship.

Rather than operate it as one would a normal craft, one engages the power (Y), then uses the buttons in the cockpit: (1) Unlock the landing clamps, (2) engage the launch. This turns on the 4 thrusters which are set to automatically engage at full thrust.

Once in the clear, the occupant can use the further buttons to either activate the antenna (which is labeled "distress call") out to 5000 meters, or activate the emergency beacon up to 50 kilometers.
