By MrBrightside
Mr. Brightside, when I de-compile a weapon and try to re-compile it, the animations break and I can't fix it why is that?

I get asked this question a thousand times and I've just recently discovered a neat little trick of doing it.. So, I made a tutorial on how to change/add new mesh to existing weapons without it breaking animations!

Enjoy!

Oh, but how do you implement those new Guns into the game are those pre-made imports? which you tjust animate or how does it work? I'm interested in these kind of things since I'm planing on becoming a Game Designer myself. Your art is just amazing

No because I don't model and that takes a long time.

Brightside, I compiled and recompiled a lot of times my modded files but i always get "Error Loading Model" when using HLMV. I even tried to load the original mdl (from the person i asked, they're from Garry's Mod) but the error persists. Do you have any idea what could be?

Nevermind what i wrote, i figured out what went wrong.: i had to include the "$attachment ...." lines into the .qc.
Now everything runs as it should be. Once again, thank you very much for sharing. :tdealwithit:

First of all, thanks for sharing these infos. I've tested this by switching the default M1911 with the M45 model (long story) and, in general, all animations are now working just fine.
But there seems to be a different kind of problem:

1. muzzleflash is gone
2. laser dot sticks in the middle during reload/running/crawling and the beam acts like a rope, connected between the dot and the lasersight device (i recall the Keltec model, kind of having the same issue)

Any idea what this causes or how to fix/prevent it?

Side note:
i skipped the whole import part into 3d program (I'm using blender) since both models use the same bones and are identical in size.
