Bought the game during Xmas Steam sale for $20 with DLCs. Tried to play after completing ME1, loaded up and suddenly need the Cereberus Key to access content and the game in general, only to discover that there is no access to the Key and that EA removed the keys to a ton of their games on Steam and haven't fixed it, yet Steam is still selling them. WTF?!?! I feel like I got ripped off as I keep getting the run around.

I bought ME2 Digital Deluxe Edition in 2016 and used the codes on a random account I made just for it but now I have a more perm account on Origin and a different email and all that but since I used the codes already I no longer have access to my DLC...

Awesome, thank you!

No, mate. You don't have to buy it again. You can use the same key that you got for buying the game on the Steam to activate it on Origin. No extra cost...

Thanks @adam_bisset this is good information! Hate that the answer is buying it in two places, but oh well.

FYI older Steam codes for ME2 now work for Origin too.

It's much easier to redeem and download the main game on Origin and let it handle all the DLC rather than you having to fanny about with all these workarounds.

The reason I bought on Steam in the first place was in the hope I would be able to avoid Origin entirely as I'm not a fan. However, as that is not possible you might as well let Origin do the whole thing rather than fighting to get Origin and Steam working in tandem.

I, like everyone else bought ME2 and at first i did get the Cerberus failed to connect like everyone else. After waiting a while i tried again and it worked and connected me to the Cerberus network. It showed 4 add ons. but even after reading everyones comments and posts. i still cant figure out how to get the dlc content to work within the game?

reader87 - Six months later, and with Mass Effect 2 officially being sold on Steam again, and still no solution. Fine, I guess they have no actual obligation to fix it if they didn't actually sell the DLC to you, but it's still beyond acceptable from my point of view.

I just did it this way; I bought it on Steam without knowing what a pain in the butt the DLC would be, I would've just done it all via Origins had I know, but.

1. Purchase/download ME2 on Steam
2. Open Origin, under Games menu, add a non-Origins game, enter the key from Steam
3. Click ME2 in your Origins library, and in the right frame, click Extra Content
4. Buy the DLC bundle ($24.99 currently) *you have to BUY the DLC*
5. Download and install DLC via Origins
5.5 (I think you have to login via Origins and login to the EA account to activate Cerebus but I can't remember)
6. When that's done, open Steam, verify integrity of local files for ME2
7. DLC now available in Steam, Cerebus network connected

Downloading the DLC for free from the above link won't help because you haven't purchased access to it. If you download it and install without purchasing it you'll get the error message about not having access to the DLC when you log in.

Origin/EA can have a very easy work around in 1 patch that stops this "ping the cerberus network/log on" nonsense. been looking to get my DLCs tp work again and though the free DLCs all of them are great , you cant use it if you cant connect to the cerberus network. "unable to communicate to ea" i always get. yes i did the origin redeem thing as well... again nothing. Logged on with my origin account again nothing.

Funny thing when i first bought it it played like a charm without all this hasstle. you would think anno 2020 that this wouldnt be an issue anymore.. Sorry little fiesty about it all
