Athena Ranking System is the basis for how you get matched with other players like you with similar gear / skills.

There are five ranks in the system, each one have five subranks.
The newbies don't have rank yet, they have to complete a few requirements before to level up.I don't remind which requirements

After you complete the requirements you will become a Lieutenant.

As i said there are five ranks with their own subranks:
1.- Lieutenant
2.- Captain
3.- Major
4.- Colonel
5.- General

Lieutenant is the first rank in the system, Lieutenant rank will test your skills and familiarize in this kind of games, if you have played another shooters you can easily level up to the next rank.

Captain is the second rank in the system, same as lieutenant but against players with some experience in this game.

Major is the third rank in the system, skilled players with advanced gear than yours, better weapons, armor, etc.

Colonel is the fourth rank in the system, you have to be a good player to reach this one, because the players are now veterans or field tested players, more tactical, high gear, hardened armor, they will eat you if you don't work with your mates.

And at this rank you couldn't level up too easy if you leave a match you will be downgraded, teamwork is the key to reach the final rank.

General is the fifth rank of the system and the final one, takes a lot to reach this one, if you're one of them ... congratulations, because this rank is only for seasoned veterans, for this one you have to get a high end gear (Tier 9, X or legendary weapons), same for your armor with all the upgrades. if you don't want a kick ass

You have to get a good teammates / clan to keep leveling up, due this is the final rank, if you lose you will be downgraded too fast comparing with the other ranks.

To leveling up there are many components to determining how do you level up:

- Your Gear (weapons / armor).
- Your Performance in the battle (Kills / Deaths, Assistances, Point captured).
- Your squad performance (Assistances, Point captured).

But the most important is the teamwork, remember, if you don't work with your teammates you going to lose. Go always with your teammates, help them.

Don't matter if you're like a lonely wolf, also if you're good it doesn't works.

Due that i'm a veteran player. i been playing this game since the beginnings of the open beta
I can help you, giving you some tips to level up faster than usual.

First of all the fireteams usually works in two ways:

1.- If you are in a fireteam with a newbie friend you will be assigned to a newbie match. only works if you're a captain or major

2.- Try to play with your high level friends, usually i play with some buddies that are 5 star generals and we always win matches.

Also the clans works, you can play with your clanmates and make a good clan, like the big ones, they always make teamwork and they always win.

When you're in the main menu, sometimes you saw an * in your position, it means that your rank is going to update.

The recent problem with ubisoft is changing the course of this game, making that the low ranked players play against the high ranked ones.

This game has now a questionable business model, forgetting the user.

Ubisoft is forgetting that the user is first and not his money.
