Survarium guide

The game is primarily a first-person shooter, but also features several role-playing game elements. Players are free to use whatever equipment they can carry, however new equipment can only be purchased after gaining a certain amount of reputation with the
factions in the game. They can also further increase their proficiency in certain aspects by gaining and distributing experience.

Overview
Weapons

The main method of acquiring new weapons in Survarium is to purchase them from the various factions through the store. In the beginning they will only offer players their most basic arsenal. However by completing tasks for them, players will gradually earn more reputation with that faction and gain access to their rare supplies.

There are many categories of weapons planned for Survarium, ranging from simple handguns to assault rifles and sniper rifles. Survivors can pursue firearms as one of their skills when playing, increasing their efficiency when using them and unlocking special abilities such as being able to hold their breath when sniping longer.

Ammunition

Ammunition needs to be purchased from the Store provided the player has enough reputation with the respective faction. Ammo is automatically restocked from the player's storage upon respawning and survivors can refill their inventory while alive by visiting the ammo box in their base.

Ammunition is a finite resource in respawn-based game types. I.e. If you start with 90 rounds and none in your storage, fire 15 of those, die and respawn then you will still have only 75 rounds. This means that purchasing enough ammo to conduct a raid is crucial, lest you be left with no usable weapon.

Equipment

Equipment in Survarium is divided into 4 main types; Assault, Subversive, Sniper and Anomalous. Assault equipment specializes in protection, Subversive in mobility, Sniper in concealment and Anomalous in protection from anomalies. Each item can possess characteristics from one or more of these types. When customizing a character there are 7 slots used for equipment; Head, Face, Body, Back, Legs, Hands and Feet.
Like weapons, the main method for acquiring new equipment in Survarium is to purchase it from one of the factions in the game. Initially, factions will only offer players their most basic supplies. In order to earn access to their more advanced items, players will have to complete tasks to earn reputation with those factions..

Items

Items in Survarium are equipped alongside weapons and equipment and are used actively during battle. They usually offer a brief advantage, such as being able to remotely cripple an opponent or to heal wounds and injuries. Unlike weapons, they do not use a separate ammo counter and each item is used completely when interacted with.

Upragades and modifiers

To get the most out of your items you will need a lot of currency to get the modifiers you want. If you choose to modify a blue item you can only change that modifier and not the new ones you get with upgrading the item. Example: You have a blue mosin rifle with +3% damage. Deciding you want to change this you will get the option between 3 new modifiers, these are can range in amount and type. You choose the +5% damage modifier. Now you upgrade the mosin and get a green version. You will still have the +5% damage but you will also get a new random modifier. This new random modifier can NOT be changed since you already altered the previous version(blue).

Shop

The Shop is the main area where survivors can acquire new equipment, weapons, items and various other supplies by purchasing them using silver and gold. It serves as the location where factions exchange their wares with the player, provided survivors have the required reputation with them.

Missions

Camps and shelters always need heroes to perform important and dangerous tasks for protecting and providing all that is necessary. Hunting for artifacts, food, water, fuel and medical supplies, the destruction of competitors, clearing areas of mutants and other everyday tasks.
Camps reward heroes with money and reputation for performing tasks. The higher the reputation, the broader the access survivors will have to rare equipment and weapons.

Factions

After the green apocalypse, survivors tended to band together into groups to increase their chances of survival. In Survarium, they provide the main means of trade and supplies in the New World. They also offer tasks for survivors to earn reputation and money.

Certain factions are better specialised in specific areas. For example, the Scavengers Camp are experts in scouting and hunting artifacts and will likely have gear better suited for those tasks. The Black Market however focuses more on combat and mobile warfare, as such their stocks are more focused on lightweight ambush weapons such as shotguns and assault rifle carbines.

Arcifacts

In Survarium they are rare items which can be found in anomalies within the environment. They're intended to provide a temporary bonus for individuals or their entire team during missions.

They can be discovered in nearly any type of anomaly, although in their natural state they are hidden from sight. In order for survivors to locate and procure them, survivors will need a detector and a pair of good gloves. Each artifact possesses various qualities which can either help a survivor or harm their enemies. Survivors with the special skill "master of artifacts" will be able to activate artifacts to release the energy within them.

Anomalies

Not long before the catastrophe, scientists started discovering strange phenomena occurring in ecologically polluted areas. The effects varied: new species of bacteria, intense mutations, changes to electro-magnetic fields. The scientific world was shaken by the sensational news that the decomposition of noxious substances accelerated in anomalous territories. Ecstatic about the discovery, mankind didn’t spot the benevolent anomalies turning into deadly man traps.

Some survivors, known as artifact hunters, train and equip themsleves to be able to remain in anomalous areas for long periods of time, allowing them to search for artifacts more effectively than others. In addition to this, anomalies can be used as a tactical advantage. Due to their harmful nature, survivors can lure other, more poorly-equipped foes into an anomaly's area of effect to hinder their abilities, injure them or ultimately kill them.

Locations

In Survarium, locations are the maps used when playing the various game modes. Most maps are designed to be relatively large, with multiple routes through the area and accomodating for many types of gameplay. For example, in Rudnya there are several elevated sniping positions in the surrounding hills, but there are also some relatively low visibility areas in both the marshes and the village itself.

Teamplay will feature smaller maps designed around PvP combat, where as Free play and Cooperative will feature larger, more expansive maps. Locations are currently separate with no way to travel between them outside of lobbies, although there are plans to combine everything in a few years time.

Skills

As players earn experience and level up, they can distribute points into a selection of skills that provide passive bonuses. Each level allows one point to be invested in advancing skills. For every 5 levels in a given skill, survivors can choose to specialize in one of two abilities that can be actively used during gameplay. Upon reaching level 20, survivors are able to attain a master ability.
Gameplay
Health

Health Condition defines the amount of damage your character can withstand before being out of combat. It is set to 100 points. There are several states of Condition that are shown on the HUD
-Transparent
-Pale yellow
-Bright yellow
-Orange
-Red : out of order. If this is an arm, you cannot use weapons or items, if this is a leg, you cannot move, until the limb is restored (using natural regeneration or a medicinal item).
-When a bullet hits a target and does not penetrate, the hit marker shows small white arrows. [a picture showing hit markers would be great]
-When a bullet hits a target and penetrates the armour, the hit marker shows large white arrows.
-When the target is out of combat, the hit market shows large red arrows.

Regeneration

Your character can heal wounds naturally to a certain degree. Regeneration indicates the speed of this process (+1% regeneration = +1 HP per seconde). Items can have Modifiers that increases Regeneration speed.

Damage

Damage your receive from weapons are localized on your character depending on where the attack lands.
There are 6 locations :
-Head
-Torso
-Right arm
-Left arm
-Right leg
-Left leg
The head is the most vulnerable area. A single hit will generally kill you unless you have protection.

Stamina

Stamina defines the ability of your character to sprint and jump. When sprinting or jumping the stamina bar located in the bottom right corner of the HUD gets emptied over the time. When it is depleted you can no longer sprint nor jump until you recover some stamina. Some skills such as Endurance or Breath helps your character being more athletic.

Weight

The Movement speed of your character is greatly impacted by the Weight he carries and the Maximum Weight he can carry.
A beginner character cannot carry more than 30kg.
Under 20kg, the character is not hindered and runs at full speed. Between 20 and 30kg, the extra weight he carries slows him down exponentially and increases the Energy Cost of Sprinting and Jumping.
Several factors can improve the Weight a character can carry :
-The Athlete skill allows your character to carry up to 10 more kg.
-The Anomalous Force Protein item allows you to carry an extra 5kg for a battle.
-Items such as backpacks, pants and torso armors can have a modifier that allows your character to carry more.
It is unclear if the hindrance start is moved up when your maximum portable weight is higher.

Armour

Armor reduces damage by a flat percentage, which means that if you have 60 armor and get hit by a weapon with 20 damage and 50 penetration you will only take 18 damage.

  • Isolation

Isolation measures the protection of your character against harmful elements such as gas, radiation, and other anomalies. By default your character has none. If exposed too long, your character dies. Using armour helps you protect your character and last longer when exposed to these elements. In addition you can wear respiratory systems to provide you oxygen when exposed to harmful gas (white or colored mists on some areas of certain maps). The exact mechanics explaining how isolation works is unknown to us, the players. No matter how much protection you have, it seems you are never fully protected against anomalies.

    Activity Rewards

During a PvP game, you get points for achieving actions that helps your team :

    Ranking Systeam

  • Leveling

After every game, there is a chance that you find an item on the battlefield. The odds that you find something depends on your activity in the battle. Your drop rate has a base of 40%.
    -Premium Account : +25%
-Per Battery in base at the end of the game : +2.5%

  • Required Experience

For each played the game you get experience points. After reaching the required level of experience in the form promoted to a higher level, and the experience is reset. It should again gather experience from zero, until the given number to advance to higher levels.
Factions
Player Interactions

By default most factions will only offer basic supplies or in some cases will not deal with survivors at all. In order to earn the right to purchase better supplies or open relations with new factions, players will have to perform tasks to earn their favour.

Relationships between clans and factions are built accordingly; the more tasks accomplished by clan members, the better the terms between that clan and the faction. In high levels of relations the clan leader can attempt to form a union with the faction, meaning that from that moment on the clan is a representative of the faction in game.

Faction Levels

Factions are divided into two levels of accessibility. Basic factions are those that are available from the start to trade basic supplies and offer simple tasks for the player. The Scavengers and Black market are examples of this type of faction.

Advanced factions offer better equipment, but are not immediately available for trading and tasks. These factions will only begin to deal with the player if they achieve maximum reputation with one of the basic factions. Not all basic factions are preferred by all advanced factions though. For example, one faction will only deal with players in good relations with the Scavengers Camp and not the Black Market.

Shop
Currency

  • Silver

Silver, or rubles, is the basic form of currency in the world of Survarium. It is used for all purchase/service-based actions in Survarium, including the purchasing of new items and upgrading and repairing weapons and equipment.

Whenever a survivor completes a match in Teamplay or finishes a task for the various factions, they will receive a small amount of silver minus the repair costs for their equipment. A small amount of silver is also awarded every time the player levels up depending on their current level. Additionally, some rare forms of items have a bonus which increases the amount of silver a survivor earns through matches.

Silver can be earned by selling excess weapons, equipment, items and ammunition from the survivor's inventory. Finally, silver can also be earned using real world money by purchasing gold and then converting it into silver.

  • Gold

Gold is the premium form of currency in Survarium and is normally only acquirable by purchasing it using real world money. It comes in packs of various quantities and can be purchased from the Official Survarium Shop.

Competitions and events are regularly held which reward winners with various amounts of gold, Premium Account time and other bonuses.

Survarium's payment system is entirely optional. Nearly all of the items in the game are acquirable through play or purchase with silver currency. Gold merely serves as a way to circumvent the grind needed to acquire these items normally. There are only a few items which can only be purchased with gold; cosmetic items such as Camouflage & decals, service items such as repair kits and stash maps, and bundles containing unique items with common bonuses and special, non gameplay-related bonuses such as increasing the amount of silver received and improving the item's reliability.

    Premium weapons

Premium Weapons are special variants of select weapons that are only acquirable by purchasing them with GoldGold. They usually have 3 statistic upgrades by default, 2 of which are usually unique, non-gameplay related bonuses such as increasing silver or XP received for a match. They also usually have a unique camouflage pattern, which is currently the only way of customizing a weapon's appearance.

    Camouflage / Decals

Camouflage and decals are cosmetic items appliable to Torso and Leg equipment. They serve as a way for survivors to customise their appearance. Up to one camouflage and two decals can be applied to any item and decals can be positioned, rotated and scaled to fit anywhere on their survivor's body.

    Bundles

Bundles are groups of items that can be purchased from the shop using gold. They were first introduced in the 0.25a update, along with special items. They usually include a special weapon with unique upgrades, a large amount of ammo and occasionally some other items.

Artifacts
Artifact Locations

Coil

A crystal grown with thin elastic fibers. Visually it resembles an inductive coil where its name derives from. In its normal state it creates a local electromagnetic field which deactivates all the electronics and hiding the player from scanners and detectors. When activated, it’s used as a grenade establishing electromagnetic field switching off all the electronic devices.

Larkspur

Artifact has a 2% passive health regeneration effect. Active makes it immediately stop bleeding and starts regenerating health with a high effect. We're talking +10% regeneration upon activation

Onyx

A dark crystal with a faint glow. In its passive condition it creates a special field reacting to objects moving at high speed and slowing them down. The survivors contrived to use this artifact to slow down bullets and to decrease their piercing ability. When activated it is able to completely stop bullets.

Rattle

Possesses a unique ability to jam any sounds produced by the artifact carrier. When activated, the artifact effect is amplified. This said, the artifact is not destroyed, and shortly afterwards can be activated again.

Sponge

A small object that looks similar to a sponge or moss. In its normal state it absorbs toxic gas and radioactive dust. When activated, it becomes a deadly grenade creating a cloud of poisonous spores when exploding.

Spring

A small artifact resembling a heavily increased DNA molecule. In its regular state it increases the speed of the character’s movement. When activated it temporarily increases metabolism to considerably speed up the energy restoration speed.
Skills
Firearm training

The firearm training skill is focused around improved use of weaponry, making players able to take more accurate shots and fire and reload faster. For every point invested in firearm training, players receive a passive bonus in aiming speed and precision.

Physical training

Physical training manages the player's fitness and stamina, allowing them to carry larger amounts of equipment and have greater mobility. Each point in physical training provides players a passive bonus in stamina recovery, movement speed and carrying capacity.

Medical skills

Survival and first aid improves actions that allow the player to heal themselves and other players, as well as endure the effects of pain. For each point invested in survival and first aid, players receive a passive bonus in healing wounds and their pain threshold.

Technical skills

Technical skills deals with the various forms of devices and traps in the world of Survarium, making them more effective for players using them. For every point invested in technical skills, players earn passive bonuses in device usage speed and success probability.

Camouflage
Survarium Survival Tip

When camouflaging yourself, consider that certain shapes are particular to humans. The enemy will look for these shapes. The shape of a hat, helmet, or black boots can give you away. Even animals know and run from the shape of a human silhouette. Break up your outline by placing small amounts of vegetation from the surrounding area in your uniform, equipment, and headgear. Try to reduce any shine from skin or equipment. Blend in with the surrounding colours and simulate the texture of your surroundings.

Shape and Outline

Change the outline of weapons and equipment by tying vegetation or strips of cloth onto them. Make sure the added camouflage does not hinder the equipment's operation. When hiding, cover yourself and your equipment with leaves, grass, or other local debris. Conceal any signalling devices you have prepared, but keep them ready for use.

Colour and Texture

Each area of the world and each climatic condition (arctic/winter, temperate/jungle, or swamp/desert) has colour patterns and textures that are natural for that area. While colour is self-explanatory, texture defines the surface characteristics of something when looking at it. For example, surface textures may be smooth, rough, rocky, leafy, or many other possible combinations. Use colour and texture together to camouflage yourself effectively. It makes little sense to cover yourself with dead, brown vegetation in the middle of a large grassy field. Similarly, it would be useless to camouflage yourself with green grass in the middle of a desert or rocky area.

To hide and camouflage movement in any specific area of the world, you must take on the colour and texture of the immediate surroundings. Use natural or man-made materials to camouflage yourself. Camouflage paint, charcoal from burned paper or wood, mud, grass, leaves, strips of cloth or burlap, pine boughs, and camouflaged uniforms are a few examples.
Cover all areas of exposed skin, including face, hands, neck, and ears. Use camouflage paint, charcoal, or mud to camouflage yourself. Cover with a darker colour areas that stick out more and catch more light (forehead, nose, cheekbones, chin, and ears). Cover other areas, particularly recessed or shaded areas (around the eyes and under the chin), with lighter colours. Be sure to use an irregular pattern. Attach vegetation from the area or strips of cloth of the proper colour to clothing and equipment. If you use vegetation, replace it as it wilts. As you move through an area, be alert to the colour changes and modify your camouflage colours as necessary.
