Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips and interesting tid bits to "help" you with this game. There aren't many guides for this game, so I decided to make this.
This guide should not contain spoilers. Just things I found machanically.

Tips
If you can't find the solution to a puzzle, or need to find the path forward, get as high possible and survey the land. Or, don't forget about chrono ping (defaulted with down on the D-pad or Mouse 3).

Treat this game like Bioshock. If you want a big amount of the upgrade material, search every nook and cranny. There isn't as much items as Bioshock (way less in comparison). WATCH out for "no going back" points. It takes time to recognize these. Usually if you feel the story is progressing, or there is a drop off, you want to stop and go the other directions to explore.

You can pick up far away items with anti-gravity.

I would highly suggest you play the Bioshock series. (Not needed to play this game, but it is a great series).

Items:
This game uses all three item dump techniques (some are popularly used terms, some are terms I came up with, some are terms someone else has come up with and aren't popularly used, I don't remember which are which).
  • Boss Fountain: The game loads you up on items before entering the boss fight.
  • Boss Sink: The game loads you up on items in the area with the boss fight (during the fight itself).
  • Boss Drain: The game loads you up on items after the boss fight.

[You can only carry 2 weapons at a time (apart from the two special weapons, the RL-7 and the Seeker), so you should try out the different weapons and pick which two you like most before you start upgrading weapons.]

[The Seeker and the RL-7] ... [don't replace your other weapons].

Enemies getting too close? Use a shotgun or other UPGRADED weapon.
Tricks
You can age items as you hold them with anti-gravity. This seems more of a time saver and interesting tid bit. I know for me, if I have to do this a lot, aging something, then picking it up, then putting it down, then aging it again, can become mundane. Your preference.
Community Tips
THIS SECTION IS DEVOTED TO PREFERRED GAME ADVICE FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS, RATHER THAN GENERAL GAME PLAY ADVICE

[Hold onto the Seeker and the RL-7 for as long as you can. They don't replace your other weapons, allowing you to conserve ammo without dropping either of your guns.]

[It's not worth buying more than 1 or 2 levels in TMD power increases unless you find yourself constantly running low on power.]

[The extra oxygen hero perk is not worth buying.]

[The extra sprint hero perk is definitely worth buying.]
Notes
I. I WILL BE ADDING ON AS I PLAY THE GAME

II. If you feel that there is something I should add on, or take out, please comment. In addition to commenting, leaving a reason why will help me understand if it should be added / taken out.

III. I have finished the game, but I will periodically update the guide as needed.

IV. Since I want lots of people to contribute, I will not say which community member gave each individual tip/trick. This prevents headaches on my part. If you want to know who gave the tip/trick, look through the chat.

V. Anything between [ ] is something contributed by a community member. Anything that isn't, is from me.

VI. I have added a redirect to a hints guide. This is cut down on spoilers.

go to door. hole down E, then fire (create time slow sphere).
target the center of the sphere and hit Q (or what it is on controller).
this will shrink it to a small sphere you can hit Q again on after hitting the door open button.
that puzzle was a weird one.

Honestly, there is not much point in saying which perks are or are not useful. You will have all most of them half-way through, and have all of them toward the end. And that's if you buy a weapon upgrade point once or twice.

"I found myself dying in the gas level because the door close too fast, I think I have to use the time freezing bubble but I didn't get there in time. I though that iron lungs would be great for that mission and the water ones.

I prefer shotgun first and sniper second, autocannon reduce to much my movement."

You can lay the freezing bubble. Turn it to "not active". Go behind the glass. Press the button. While BEHIND the glass (and while the door is up), you can activate the bubble again. Took me a while to learn this also.

"I watch in a video that you can throw it through the window if you are really near and I did it. I see something like that but I was not sure how I suppose is like aging object when you hold them.

Thank you. I just found the answer to my spoiler question (is yes). And the lore in this game is incredible great I really enjoyed. Thank you for your guide.

I just discovered why it didn't worth buying levels in TMD.

Do you know why armoured soldiers and spiderbugs sometimes die with one sniper heatshot (totally upgraded) and sometines they stand three or more headshots?"

Unfortunately no.

Are there only 3 different endings?

The Volk shotgunwas my most used weapon. It will kill most anything with a few rounds and is an excellent counter to almost all of the mutated creatures. It is invaluable in any close range fight, monster swarm, suprise attack, or jump scare. The Autocannon chaingun is a close second: more range and clip, but sacrifices mobility and the delay before firing can be lethal.

Just finished the game; a bit linear, but really enjoyable. Its like a combination of Half Life and Metro 2033.
