Scavenger Perks

Description
In the early game, I would grab everything not nailed to the floor without knowing what it did, just that it looked interesting and was probably better stuff than the measily equipment I had. However, I swiftly realized my hoarding was just wasting space, and selling it all wasn't always easy.

Instead of throwing it all away, I thought it'd be a good idea to be green and recycle my junk into useful things. This mod currently gives 4 perks:
A Smithing one to melt down large equipment into ingots.
An Alchemy one to convert potions into ingredients at cooking pots. (Now you can do something about those 20 minor healing potions that are too beneath you to actually drink!)
Another Smithing one that increases ore in veins.
Another Alchemy one that makes ingredients weightless (this one's a bit fiddly: after getting the perk ingredients you pick up will become weightless, but resets when you restart the game. Sorry this is difficult, this was a hard one to do even this well)

Also, not a perk, but kinda fits, pickpocketing is now less frustrating as the max pickpocket chance is now 99% instead of 90%.

I'm planning on updating this with more perks and adjustments, so please leave feedback on what you'd think be a good perk that fits this theme (scavenging and hoarding).

*This mod will require SKSE now to accomodate these new changes, let me know if anyone is having trouble with this.

Questions for you:

Are the exchange rates for the smelting bad (too few ingots, too many)?
Do you want similar extracts for other potions or poisons?
Are there other perks you would want?

In addition to this, why not add recipes to break down leather and fur garments at the tanning station? That would also reduce the clutter greatly. For whatever the reason I have about 50 different fur armors in my inventory often enough. Not 100% sure where I even get them anymore!

As for yappy118's comment on potions. I do agree and see your point. But if you don't want to break down potions it’s as simple as not placing a point in that particular perk. Or, that story about the egg could be your excuse for that if you roleplay. After all, Skyrim is a land of magic and dragons. Why shouldn't we be able to separate one element from another like oil and vinegar? Sure it would likely not be stored in the same way, that’s where the meta-gaming comes in, but it is still technically possible.

All of that being said, complaints and complements included, this is a good mod. As with anything it can still use some improvements but so far it is very good. ^_^

Pickpocketing seems to "max out" from the start even though, at the beginning of the game, it was only at 15 pts. It’s great in a way, but it takes the challenge out of pickpocketing.

If you could make this an option instead of just integrating it into the mod itself that would be great. Make it, say, into a perk or an option through the MCM. That would likely work better in my opinion.
It would also be very useful if you posted, somewhere, what can be smelted down and what recipes along with what potions could be broken down and into what. Not in game but out of it, for example here in a forum post or something similar. That way we could know what to save for smelting even though we don’t have enough mats for smelting it right now on us, and what to discard because it’s not going to do any good. It would also allow users to comment and say “there should be a smelting/cooking recipe for this item <inserts name here>.”

good idea but dont work i took the miner perk where you should get 4 ore out of a vein and still only got 3, havent tested the smelting down perk yet so dont know if that works but doubt it when the other one dont

Hi Triple. Your mod appeals to me a great deal. One thing I don't like about it is the fact that potions can be reverted back to the ingredients used to make them. That's like saying you can break an egg, fry it, then liquify the result and pour it back into the shell and use a spell to mend it. I know Skyrim is a land of magic, but that one sticks into my craw. Now, if you had suggested that lesser potions can be reduced (boiled down?), have one or two ingredients added to create the next level of the same type of potion, that I would feel makes perfect sense. This is just an idea I'm throwing your way for you to consider. Anyhow, congratulations again on helping use de-clog our inventories.

I've figure it out. It's because I didn't have any of the smaller potions. I hadn't realised that it would only work on certain potions, I thought it was for all of them. I like the smithing perk, really useful!

I'm sorry to hear about your problem, but it works on my end. Are you sure you have the perk active and have the appropriate potions (the stock ones that you buy and find: restore 25, 50, 75). It's currently set up to only show the options for the potions you have as to reduce clutter on screen. If you still have this problem even while holding a potion or minor healing or the like, then let me know what other mods you might have, it could be an incompatibility issue.

Hi, this may be me being an idiot but I can't figure out how to change potions into ingredients - I've tried doing it at the cooking pot in my Whiterun house but no options appear. Any help?
