Alien: Isolation

Don't want to waste your precious gaming-time for watching the videos of the games producers every single time you start the game?

Here's a quick, non destructive guide to remove those videos.

Disabling the videos
Thankfully very quick and easy:
  • Open your file browser (i.e. explorer on windows).
  • In there navigate to the video folder of the game, i.e.:
    C:\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA\UI\MOVIES\
  • Rename the following three files (i prefer to just add an underscore "_" at the beginning):
    • AMD_IDENT.USM
    • CA_IDENT.USM
    • FOX_IDENT.USM

  • Start the game without the videos.
Linux
Linux users need to rename the files (in the GUI or via terminal with the "mv [OLDNAME] [NEWNAME]" command)
  • ca_feral_ident.webm
  • fox_ident.webm

What would be great is to remove all the fccking cheats that are coded into the game in the DLC. The grind timers, the controls that "randomly" glitch out, the psychic alien that knows where you are when you have no fuel and almost no life yet, all the other bullshit would be nice to see gone.

Yesss thank you for this! I almost don't mind the Fox and Creative Assembly screens, at least they tried to fit the theme of the game. The AMD one is just stupid obnoxious though.

It’s a joy to be able to return the game much faster, all of a sudden.
I should have searched for this thread years ago. Much obliged, cheers! :p2cube:

The command to move files under Linux (or, indeed any Unix-like) is 'mv'. 'rm' stands for 'remove', as in permanently delete. Don't use 'rm' for anything unless you know what you're doing.
