Skills and Stats

I put everything on body it increases your damage and your HP.
I use Shadow Jolt before I attack to get ambush buff. Then I use Blink Assault to AoE and use Wraith Strike on bigger ones with Shadow Mark for easy kills and extra stealth+new ambush buff.

Auras and Katarina

You can see the auras I use.
Feel free to change them as you like but I went with these as it seems to be the best choice.

I use Katarina in ghost form but I tried melee too.For me ghost form works best.
I increase my own Body stat with her as well as damage defense and attack speed.
I put points on extra magic find too not sure if it really worth it.

Perks

Here are the perks I use not sure if they are the best or not there are still more to unlock I just use these for now.

About the build

Just to make it clear I don't say this is the best build but it is pretty good and powerful.
I suggest for gearing get:

Critical hit Chance
Crit damage
Body

These should be the best stats to get on your items.

How did you remove one point from the Shadow Twirl ability, or is this because it was an early version of the game?

After change all to Body...my character works better and makes more damage!

According to the game tooltip body should increase melee damage and Health points.
Dexterity is used for ranged dps and dodge.
I think all skills on Umbralist benefits from melee damage even tho Blink Assault has "range" to attack but I can't say that for sure that dexterity don't increase the damage of Blink Assault
