In this guide , i will show New Player's on how to get a good start going in Heroes and Generals.
I will try to describe Every step in detail. And list a few Important Point's.

Welcome To Hereos and Generals!
Hi My Firends , welcome to Heroes And Generals Now!
Today , you have Enlisted for the German , US or Soviet Army.
I will Give you brief Description on how to start.
So Before we start , Let me tell you it's a Game which allows players to Play Either as
Hero Or General.
Hero: Anyone who fights in the FPS(First Person Shooter, also called Action game).He has The Equipment needed for fighting. He is the one who is used by generals for fighting! Yes , you are a Soldier Now!

General: A General is a Career which is totally limited to the Real-Time Strategy(RTS) Portion of the game.He has the ability to Use Assault-Teams (AT's) who fight in war on the campaign Map. He has the control of which place will be the War Zone for The Heroes.
One can be a General either if he reaches Rank 20 In-game , or if he spends money to buy gold and then a General. the Gold cost for becoming a General is about 11000 gold.Hopefully , you will not want to be a General that soon right?

So Lets Come to the basics...
Basic Controls
What do i mean by basic Controls , Dom?

I mean The controls that You will usually use in the game and will be frequent.
Movement
W- Walk forward.
A- Walk Left.
S- Walk backwards.
D- Walk Right. (i also mean drive).

Interaction

E- Enter Vehicle / Plane / Tank Etc.
F- Whistle , considered as a sign for " Hey Mate! I need a ride! Let me get on board!"
R- Reload Weapon
C- Crouch or Duck
Z- Lay down or go Prone.

Combat

LMB - Fire.
RMB - Use sights or Zoom in.
Scroll Mouse Wheel - Cycle between weapons.

(For tankers , to change ammo type if you have two kinds of ammo , Press 1 for 1st selection , 2 for second selection and 3 for machine gun)
Pilots : Use ctrl+WASD to bank and turn or Go high and low. Space bar to drop a bomb. RMB for Cannons and LMB for machine gun(s).






Combat (Foot).
Here Recruit , you have conscripted for the mighty Infantry of Wehrmacht/US Army / Soviet Army.
You , win battles! And you choose the General's Fate! Dont let him down , he pays for you! And he prays too. You arent fighting to kill the enemies , you are fighting to capture!

Here

Battle's are won by soldiers , but generals usually get the credit.
Change it to :
Soldiers Get credits and XP , Generals get Warfunds , territories , Xp and Relief

So , dont let them down!
Lets head for basics.

What do i mean by Basics?
  • Basics are going to be the things that you will use a lot in the battlefield , not only to a devastation effect , but to a Really , REALLY DEVASTATING Effect!

You are a soldier , i havent recruited you to camp in woods (till you are a recon).
I have recruited you to Fight , and Raise my head with might so i can say to my fellow Generals that "My army plays , it does not Stand".

By this , i mean , dont Just sit in a woods and pray for an enemy to come and pass by and then you shoot him , It aint Call of Duty , it will earn you only 5 - 6 EXP , That may feel good at Rank 0 and 1 , but at rank 2 , you will take three years to get to Rank 3.So , Hire a ride , Get to a Capture Point , and Capture it!.Capturing earns you both Credits and Exp , along with some Warfunds.

Capturing sir , is your top Priority after Defending yourself.
Yes , you need to live to fight right?True!You need to live , A man does not become a Corporal By dying for no reason.

Defending Points : After you have Captured , you should defend for a few minutes till your team does not get to a Objective Point (Literary , O1 , O2 and 03.)Each Defense Kill gives 60 exp , so for three Defense Kills , you are getting the EXP of a Capture.
Tactical Play.
Yes , this game does not mean you will go with a MG into a Building and Lay down a spray of Metal Cases and Lead all around! At that time , you will be Killed (Shamefully) by a Spade Wielding Guy.

So here we come to a Big Question:
"So what are Tactics and Why , where and how do we Apply them?"
Let me answer One by one .
"So , What are tactics?"
Tactics are Manouveres or Skills that are used to make the work easier or to make it take less Lives and time.

"Why Should I use Tactics?"
Well , Imagine , there are hundreds of People with a machine gun at a Farm , They get bombarded by a Heavy Tank that is Raining hell on anyone who passes nearby. Think , they all charge it In an effort to kill it , without even one having any Anti-Tank Equipment(Yeah , this kind of looks like Polish Lacers charging Panzer IV's with lances). And they all die , without even scratching the tank , What a waste , right?.
Now imagine this:
Hundreds of Soldiers at a farm being bombarded by a Tank , they dont Have Anti-Tank Equipment but thier leader asks them to Get some equipment from where-ever they can find them , He orders some men to take cover and try to Supress the tank. And then , certainly , 8 people find some Anti Tank equipment , He calls them and tells them to flank the tank and attack it from rear.They follow orders and are able to Kill the tank With a few Casualties.
What is Better , Imagination # 1 , or Imagination # 2.

"Where do we Apply them?"
To apply the right tactic , you need to know the situation.Then find a way to Execute it , with less Casualties on this side , and mass graves on the other.You should Think what will be right , Take your Example , you see three heavy tanks nearing you , and you dont have any AT Equipment , what will you do , Hide , or Run in front of them?Well , the people who are intelligent will say "Hey! Its a tank! I will rather like to Hide than die like a cannon fodder!"
Yeah thats right , you will have to think.
So , to apply them , follow these steps.
Observe the Situation Carefully > Think of a plan that will help you and your team> ask them to execute it the right way>help them do it> And you are done , you will send them Back with a lot of coffins on thier Shoulders.


Some Basic Tactics.

Here , i will show some basic Tactics to you.So , First , for Infantry.

Flanking

Flanking is the easiest , the most deadly , Oldest and Trickiest of any Tactics.
A Flanking Maneouvre , is a Simple tactic that can be done with 2 or more men.
The Top Priority is to Supress the enemy(Keep thier heads down , or to lay a heavy barrage of fire to Make them Unable to move)


Then comes Flanking , it is the most crucial Part , Supressed enemy's take cover ,
You wipe them from Here.Once the enemy is supressed a Man(or a whole team) can
Move around thier side and kill them.Preferably, using concealed positions.


Applying it

As shown above , Supress the enemy , Keep firing , And firing and firing at the enemy so he panics and loses hope that he can make it through , he will surrender to it and wait for an angel(teammate) to come and rescue him.He wont move , till he finds himself a spot to run through.When the enemy is supressed , a team can move through the side , trying to keep away from his LoS(Line of sight) and take him out.Remember to keep the fire on , or he will move!

Breaking out of a Flanking Attack

Well , this might seem like a waste , but there are Situations where you are yourself engaged from the front and Flanked.So , once you become a sitting duck for the enemy , they Will
Flank you.First , you should contact your team and tell them you are in trouble(keep a Keen Sight on any movement though).Tell your team the place , some players come , others who consider that "Noob Job" will leave (Dont tell them, because those players are noobs themselves)you in trouble , no matter if you are the last of "us".Once you contact , a teammate will come withing a minute or less.Once he lays fire , retreat back , But keep your aim on , dont show your back , you might move slow , but will be a bit safer.If Friendly Backup is not available , Try to Shoot the enemy shooting you , One shot if you can , the blood Spatters will Distract him.
Find a cover nearby and change position to that , keep doing that until you break free.None of these Guarantee that you will win though.

Storming

At Times , you may face a lot of enemies indoors in a Building , Defending it.If anyone walks through the Door , he will Die.Here , you Have to co-ordinate with friend's. You have to Throw a Grenade , And wait , well , not as simple as that.

Applying it

So , first , Get near the Building with a few teammates (More than two recommended) , announce on chat your plan , some good smart guys will Follow it , no matter what thier rank.
First , get some guys to cover all Exits from the building , Then , Throw a grenade(or Grenades)
and whistle , Whistle is also considered as a Way of Advanced Communication.Once you Throw grenades , the enemies will run out of the room , Through the exits and get killed by your team , some may be too slow or unlucky and get Killed by the grenade , then , another whistle will mark an Assault order , thus , making your team "Storm" the Building , they will (along with you) go inside and Start Shooting at anything , be sure not to use grenades anymore as it can harm you and your teammates.The Room is clear and a Plan well Executed.

In the Defending tactics , i will tell you how to survive it.

Defending Tactics

After a sucessful attack , as i said before , you have to defend , Defense usually means holding off an enemy counterattack until relieved by teammates.

Positioning

Position yourself at places the enemy will come in from , like Places overlooking doors , and if there is , Open roof , ladders etc.
The Place should have A good Protection from enemy fire , as well (if possible) , a place to Get out from if Enemies overhelm you.Also , it is role dependant , if you have SMG's , Stay Indoors , if Machineguns , overlooking Doors , If a Rifle , Help The Machinegunner , and if a BA Rifleman , Try to snipe enemies coming towards your Control Point , and IF engaged in Close Quarters , stay with a Submachinegunner or Any teammate who is nearby , be sure to give room to him if he wants to move.

IF Stormed

If you ever get Stormed by enemies , and a grenade lands nearby , run towards a position where you can hide from the blast radius. Don't get out until it is the last resort , as the enemy who threw the grenade is probably waiting for someone to come out.If you evade the grenade , keep a tight eye on The Enterance and shoot anything , also , The enemy will throw another grenade until he kills someone , so not always you will make it out.Beware , Grenade spams are deadly and really expensive.

Welcome to the World of Tanking
So , i hear you became a Tanker , eh? Well Done Soldier!
Welcome to the Mighty US / German / Soviet Armored Division!

Now that you are Rank 5 (Or an Academy Trained soldier) , You are entered into tier 2 And Assault Maps are unlocked , you also have the Oppurtunity to become a Tanker! If you do become a Tanker , the First Tanks you meet will be The M2A2 Light Tank (For US) , Panzerkampfwagen 1 Ausf. A (For Germany) and T38 (For Soviet).These tanks are Lightly Armored , Armed with a Machinegun(Or two , In Germany and US).These Tanks have Low HP , but also very little Repair Cost (Other than US M24 Chaffe , lot higher Repair and Spawn costs , compared to other Light tanks. Before you Turn to Tanker , have at least over 140k (140,000) Credits.48k(48,000)
For Turning into it , and Others to buy Better Tanks.
So , let me tell you About Tanks.

United States Light Tanks

M2A2 Light Tank


The M2A2 Light Tank is easily Distinguished because of having two seperate Turrets , A M2 .50 Cal For the Driver and a .30 Browning M1919 for the Secondary Gunner. These Turrets Traverse Very little.They both have an overlapping zone where both can fire at the same target , this is very strong against Lightly Armed Vehicle like Jeeps , Motorcycles , IFV's etc.This Tank Has very Little Armor , close to 15mm , and can be taken out very easily by Enemy Tanks , Anti Tank Weaponary etc.AP Ammo should be bought right after it is unlocked , Or if you can wait , Get To the next Tank , The M5A1 Stuart.

M5A1 Stuart Light Tank

The Stuart Light Tank , a Versatile , strong and powerful Tank , is the Best Second Tier Light Tank for any faction , Armed with a 37 mm Cannon , a Co-Axial M1919 and another M1919 for the Secondary Gunner. This tank is pretty cheap to mantain , and still powerful enough to take out a Medium tank if engages it from Behind.AP Ammo Penetration is Good enough , but buy the APCR ammo as soon as possible to give better chances at winning against an Armored Enemy Tank.Also , a crate can be good as it helps your team a lot , you earn exp and If you are overpowered by tanks , you can Still Hold your Own.The Turret can Rotate Full 360 Degrees.

M24 Chaffe

The Chaffe , Being the Best Light tank of the game , and armed with a 75mm Gun , a Co-Axial M1919 and another M1919 for the Secondary Gunner , this tank can go head on to Low Tier Medium Tanks , and take them out if it is Good Enough APCR ammo , it is the Most expensive Light Tank of Any Faction , and also the Repair and Spawn costs are as twice as that of a Tier 1 Medium Tank.This should Not be bought earlier until you are at least Rank. 9 Tanker(as per what i suggest you).Crates should still be bought , and if possible , a Wrench so you can Survive longer , lessening the Repair Costs.

Why not take a look at Medium Tanks?

Medium Tanks

Medium Tanks are versatile Tanks than can Damage Heavy tanks and Are (Nearly) Immune to Light tanks.They Have Good Cannons , Lot of armor and Enough HP to Survie for a long time , Just a Bit Higher Cost than Light tanks , and can be afforded by Players who are rank 8+.

M3 "Lee"

The "Lee" Tank , named after general George Lee is a Special Medium tanks , with two Cannon Turrets , a 75mm Low Velocity Sponson Mounted Cannon for the Tank Driver , and a 37mm High Velocity Top Mounted Turret for Secondary Gunner , you can Switch between turrets anytime by pressing "C" (Until someone is not On the other Gun). The 37mm Low Velocity Gun is Effective against Light and Low Tier Medium Tanks , while the 37mm Is for Lightly Armored Vehicles and Low Tier Light tanks.With the Main Gun (75mm) , you have to Lead your target more due to low velocity , but with the 37mm Turret , you have to Lead a bit less due to being high Velocity , this Gun is usefull for speeding targets , If they are Lightly Armored .Together , this tank can be used to a devastating effect.

M4A1 "Sherman"

The Sherman is a Versatile Medium Tank , Quick enough , armed with a 75mm Turret , a co-axial M1919 , and another M1919 for the Secondary Gunner.It has a good enough Armor to Hold against Other Medium Tanks unless they have APCR Rounds , it is sloped a bit so can bounce off some shells.The 75mm Cannon can kill a Jeep and motorcycle in 1 shot , but needs two shots for IFV's , Light and Medium tanks , while upto three for Heavy tanks.This tank , if correctly used , can wreak havoc on any type of asault , as well , can lead the Charge (Not recommended , as enemy can have good enough Equipment to counter it).

M4A1E8 "Sherman Easy Eight"

The "Easy Eight" is a Really powerful Medium tank Armed with a 76mm Cannon , a Co axail M1919 , an Open M1919 for the Secondary Gunner , and another M1919 Which can be used by the Secondary Gunner as well.This tank , is according to my experience , the Best Medium Tank.
This tank Is good for Defense and can assault very well IF all the guns are mounted , still not recommended.Will tell more after i Get it .

Now , lets move to the Father Of all Tanks , The Heavy Tanks..

Heavy Tanks

The most Potent tank of the game , a glimpse of a Heavy tank sends enemy team leaving the match , these are armed with Very Big Cannons , High Armor , and have a lot of HP.These are Fairly Slow though , that even an Infantry can catch on these on foot.

M26 Pershing

The Pershing is the only heavy tank available to US , it is armed with a Long barrel 90mm Cannon , 130mm Front armor and Has close to 3,000 HP.If used correctly , Will send the enemy team Crying Hacks and leaving the game , the Cannon Noise Alone makes the enemy Tremble.
It Is Close to immune to Panzer Fausts and Handheld Rocket Launchers , though , AT Grenades like H3's and RPG-43's will kill it in two or Three Penetrations respectively.
Don't go In Areas close To the enemy , a Heavy Tank is worth 2000 Credits per kill for an infantryman.It is really Expensive to maintain and Refill , and is recommended not to buy it Until Rank 12+ , and should not be spammed to Avoid Loss of credits.Also , Finding Matches for These tanks Is very Rare.

Medium Tank Destroyers

Medium Tank Destroyers are armed with High Velocity Cannons that can take Out Any Medium Tank in Battle , And If used well , even Heavy Tanks.These have Good Armor(For Germany and Soviet Union , American one has little Armor)

M18 Hellcat
The M18 Motor Gun Carriage is an open topped Medium Tank Destroyer of the US Armored Division , It Has 13mm Thick Frontal Armor that can be penetrated by Even a Tier One Light Tank , Jeep Machineguns and Infantry handheld Rifle Caliber Weapons.This tank has a Good 76mm Cannon like the "Easy Eight" , and a Speed that Modern Tanks Can't achieve easily.
It is advised not to attack enemies front on with it due to low armor , but use its speed to get to the flank of an enemy tank , engage it , destroy it , and Run.It has a Top Mount Open .50 BMG M2 Machinegun , a M1919 Co-axail Gun and Another M1919 Gun for Secondary Gunner.APCR Ammo is necessary if you want to tanke out any tank , also get a wrench.Though being Open Topped , The Driver and Secondary Gunner when Buttoned Up(In Window View) are not visible.
The Top Mount Open M2 .50 BMG is also called the Suicide Chair.

In The Forums
This tank is by far , talked about being Imbalanced , Saying it should have been a One Hit Kill Tank For 37mm And Above Cannons , though RETO-MOTO(The Developers) have Yelled at people saying Armor Penetration does not affect damage.
Due to the Driver and Secondary Gunner being invisible in Buttoned Up Mode , People have given it a Name of "Deflector Shield".
While due to its Speed and Manouvreability , It is also called as "Warp Speed".

Ahh yeah , IN WW2 , some Countries did use Lancers/Dragoons etc. Polish Lancers were Known for charging Panzers , It may not be true and just a Myth , But please , I just used it to give an example of waste..Why are we taking it as Our Main Priority?

it was possible to charge infantry but against tanks Poland had exellent AT rifle M35 Ur which was also used by polish ulhans

Changed , thanks MNGaming.Eh , Well , it is still a myth , but maybe it might be true , just maybe.We can call them Polish Dragoons then :) , if they used em for mobility.

Polish cavalry didn't charge tanks, but they only moved using horses and fight like normal infantry. If they had to retreat the escaped raiding horses.
