Retail Multilanguage Patch [FR, IT, ES, DE]

The French, Italian, and Spanish patches are full patches, and the German patch is a very basic patch thanks to the PS2 version.

I currently have access to enough resources to try to make a better, although still partial German patch, but it's difficult to repack the files successfully. So far I've managed repack texts, but I haven't had much luck with sounds. If anyone experienced with the Asura engine would like to help, feel free to shoot me a message.

Introduction
The following are full patches for the French, Italian and Spanish versions of the game. These include all the content found in retail copies: UI, subtitles, dubs, etc.

The German version, however, only includes menu texts, mission descriptions, cutscene subtitles, objective or action info texts and arrest info texts.

Below, you will find the instructions needed to apply the full patches, followed by a separate section for the German patch.

Installation [FR, IT, ES]
Step-by-step guide for patching Dredd Vs. Death into your language:

(IMPORTANT - Before patching, make sure that you have run the game at least once and that the game is not running while applying the patch)
  • 0. Go to the link below and choose your language. Download the patch.
  • 1. Open your Dredd Vs. Death installation folder.
    You can find it easily through your Steam library:
    1.1. Right click on the game's title,
    1.2. Left click on "Properties",
    1.3. Navigate to the "Local files" tab,
    1.4. Left click on the "Browse local files" button.
  • 2. Now, unzip the file containing the patch into your game's directory, so that the old files are overwritten.
  • 3. Open to the Registry Editor and search for the language register key.
    Here's how you do it:
    3.1. On your Windows search bar, type "regedit". You will then see the Registry Editor app. Open it.
    3.2. The game's registry keys might be on different places, depending on your system.
    On Windows x64, I have seen them at "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rebellion\Dredd" and "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rebellion\Dredd". If you're running an x86 Windows install, yours may be at "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rebellion\Dredd".
    In any case, it is a lot simpler to find it by going to "Edit", "Find..." and then typing "Dredd" into the search bar.
    3.3. You want to right click over the key with the name "Language" and "modify" its value according to the following:
    3.3.1. For the English version (default), the value is set at "0".
    3.3.2. For the French version, change the value to "1".
    3.3.3. For the Italian version, change the value to "3".
    3.3.4. For the Spanish version, change the value to "4".
    Once you're done, hit OK and close the Registry Editor.
  • 4. Run the game and enjoy! If you want to revert your changes, you can go to the game's Steam "Properties" again and click on "Verify integrity of game files". You will also need to change the value in the registry back to "0", or else the game will not display any texts or play any SFX.

How to only patch the texts and not the voices:
  • 1. When unzipping the downloaded file, only overwrite the "Misc" folder, and not the "Sounds" folder.
  • 2. Then, navigate to the "Sounds" folder in your game directory, and rename the following folder and file according to the following:
    2.1. The default name of the folder you want to rename is "Spch_En", and the name of the file is "en_gmsnd".
    2.2. For French, you want to rename the folder to "Spch_Fr" and the file to "fr_gmsnd".
    2.3. For Italian, you want to rename the folder to "Spch_It" and the file to "it_gmsnd".
    2.4. For Spanish, you want to rename the folder to "Spch_Sp" and the file to "sp_gmsnd".

Guía paso a paso para parchear Dredd Vs. Death al español:
    (IMPORTANTE: Antes de comenzar, asegúrate de que has ejecutado el juego al menos una vez y de que no esté ejecutándose mientras aplicas el parche)
  • 0. Abre al vínculo que encontrarás más arriba y selecciona la versión española. Descarga el archivo del parche.
  • 1. Abre la carpeta de instalación de Dredd Vs. Death.
    La puedes encontrar fácilmente en tu biblioteca de Steam:
    1.1. Haz clic derecho sobre el título del juego,
    1.2. Haz clic izquierdo en "Propiedades",
    1.3. Ve a la pestaña "Archivos locales",
    1.4. Haz clic izquierdo en el botón "Examinar archivos locales".
  • 2. Ahora, descomprime el archivo ZIP que contiene el parche dentro de el directorio del juego, de manera que los archivos originales se sobrescriban.
  • 3. Ve al registro y busca la clave del registro que se usa para definir el idioma:
    3.1. En la barra de búsqueda de Windows, escribe "regedit". Aparecerá el programa Editor del Registro; ábrelo.
    3.2. Las claves del registro del juego pueden estar en lugares diferentes, en función de tu sistema.
    En sistemas con una instalación de Windows x64, las he visto en "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rebellion\Dredd" y en "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rebellion\Dredd". Si tienes una instalación de Windows x86, las tuyas podrían estar en "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rebellion\Dredd".
    En cualquier caso, lo más fácil es hacer clic izquierdo sobre "Editar", "Buscar...", y escribir "Dredd" en la barra de búsqueda.
    3.3. Haz clic derecho sobre la clave que se llama "Language" y selecciona "modificar" para cambiar su valor predeterminado de "0" (que se corresponde al inglés) a "4" (español).
    Cuando hayas terminado, selecciona Aceptar y cierra el Editor del Registro.
  • 4. Ejecuta el juego y comprueba si el parche ha funcionado. Si quieres revertir los cambios, puedes volver a las "Propiedades" de Steam del juego y hacer clic en "Verificar la integridad de los archivos del juego". Acuérdate de que también deberás cambiar el valor del registro a "0", o si no, el juego no tendrá textos ni efectos de sonido.

Cómo parchear sólo los textos y dejar las voces en inglés:
  • 1. Sobrescribe la carpeta "Misc", y no la carpeta "Sounds".
  • 2. Después, en el directorio del juego, navega hasta la carpeta "Sounds" y cambia el nombre de la siguiente carpeta y del siguiente archivo de la manera que se indica a continuación:
    2.1. El nombre predeterminado de la carpeta que quieres renombrar es "Spch_En", y el del archivo es "en_gmsnd".
    Cambia el nombre de la carpeta a "Spch_Sp" y el del archivo a "sp_gmsnd".

Muchas gracias, ya había ejecutado el juego cuando me topé con esta guía, por lo que me resulta muy raro que no aparezca la dirección de "rebellion", de todas formas lo solucioné de otra forma más sencilla, simplemente cambiando los nombres de los archivos en español por el nombre de sus respectivos en inglés y por ahora está funcionando correctamente, voces, texto y cinemáticas.

Hola, lo acabo de mirar. Para que aparezca el directorio en el registro, primero hay que haber ejecutado el juego al menos una vez. Después, en el editor del registro, puedes hacer clic izquierdo una vez sobre "Equipo" ("Computer") y buscar "Dredd" (esto es para evitar empezar a buscar desde un directorio que esté más allá, ya que creo que la búsqueda no hace bucle una vez que llega al final). Esta vez he usado otro equipo y el directorio se ha creado en la ruta "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rebellion\Dredd".

2023, dudo que actualmente vaya a recibir respuesta, el caso es que no me aparece "rebellion" en la ruta del registro, por mucho "buscar" que use, no está (windows 10).

A mi no me sale nada en el registro cuando busco dredd. Me sale en vivendi pero nada de language

Me imagino que ya lo habrás instalado antes de probar a parchear, así que te recomiendo que pruebes la opción de "Editar", "Buscar...", y escribir "Dredd". Tiene que estar en algún directorio del registro, eso seguro.
