Early Game and Unique Ability
Welcome! You have decided to play as Sweden! Every start of Civ 5 game is always grindy and boring. There are no Unique Units unlocked, your tech stinks, and its just a grind at the beginning. Eventually you do get better tech and units towards the mid to late game. Just hang in there!

The Unique Ability for Sweden is Nobel Prize, which gives 90 Influence to City States and any declared friendship with another Civ gives you (Sweden) and that other Civ, a 10% increase towards Great People Production.

This is an ability that is worth taking advantage of. Sweden has the power to make all the City States like them (Depends on the Map Size, and the Number of City States) Grabbing alliances early on with City States is very crucial for a number of Victories that will be explained later on in the guide. Even though you will not be strong in the very beginng, any Civ that does not have any alliances with City States will think twice before declaring war on you.
Mid Game and Unique Units
Finally its the Mid Game. Your tech is better, you may have a lot more cities, more alliances and the power blocks start to form around you. You should at this point in the game try to see which Civs are worth declaring friendships with.

Sweden has two Unique Units, both can be used from the Mid to the Late Game. The Unique Units are the Hakkepeliitta and the Carolean. The Hakkepeliitta replaces the Lancer and requires the Technology Metallurgy to be researched. This unit can move after attacking and transfer movement to any Great General nearby and can gain 15% Combat Bonas after the movement is transferred. The Carolean replaces the Rifleman and requires the Technology Rifiling to be researched.

With these two good Unique Units available to you in the Mid Game, you are able to expand. The military units that you have at the beginning of the game are going to be terrible, but at least you are able to look forward to these two units in the Mid Game.
Late Game and Victories
Its nearing the end of your campaign or close to it at least. You have everything from the Mid Game to help you push for a good ending to your campaign.

I am going to mention so possible Victories for Sweden, based on its Abilities and Units. Do not let me suggestions on Victories limit your experience. Every Civ can achieve every Victory, no matter its abilities. I suggest either a Military Victory or a Diplomatic Victory.

Military Victories are just straight up conquering other Civ's Capitals. Easy right? Yeah, with Sweden it will be easier, assuming that you have City State Allies backing you up against a great power that is in your campaign. Whether you have City State Allies or not, you are still able to conquer your foes with force. And the two Unique Units, the Hakkepeliitta and the Carolen upgrade to powerful Late Game Units that you can use to destroy your foes.

Or you can go towards the Diplomatic Victory, assuming that you have researched up to the World Congress and assuming you have met all the Civs in your game. This would be a good Victory as well, only because you can declare friendships with other Civs to give yourself and that other Civ or Civs, boosts to Great People Generation. If you are able to get good friendships with other Civs, you are sure to win the Diplomatic Victory.
