(4 - 6) Conca River Crossing

Fighting on the East side of the Apennines saw primarily British and Canadian forces pushing up the coastline of Italy, moving as fast as the steep terrain and unsuitable infrastructure could allow them. With winter incoming and the desire to end Italy’s involvement in the Axis powers, an advance was made towards the Conca River, with the hope of encircling San Marino and the 76th Panzer Corps, taking them by force on their weakened flank. This same force, believed to be in retreat, clashed at the head of the river, intending to push British and Canadian forces alike back. Bridges and shallows must be exploited and defended to break the stalemate of river combat.
