It's probably not too hard to add tbh, original PA1 does have a 3D mode, you could just improve it's assets and such and make it look this good with minimal difficulty.

it also follows none of the original game's design aspects, which is what they're going for in the 2nd, so you can't compare

There was another game that came before Prison Architect, it was called Prison Tycoon, 3 and 4 being the most recent.
And its awful... Honestly. The reviews of Negative and Mostly Negative are very warranted..
