5 Basic Tips
1. Shove after shooting with your pump/chrome shotgun
This is VERY effective because if you shove after shooting, you can quickly shoot again without having to pump your shotgun. This is useful for areas with a large number of numbers. Know that if you do this too often, your fatigue will run out so don't over use it!

2. When someone is pounced, do not shove
Shooting them off is much more easier and quicker than to shove them off because if you shove them off, they can just pounce right back on the survivor. This is even more dangerous in versus mode because many players master the rolling technique, which gives you quicker recovery time.

3. When 2 or more people are boomed, toss your pipebomb!
...but do NOT toss your bile jar unless you hit an infected because once someone is boomed on, even the bile will not attract the horde. So take out a pipebomb and toss it away from your teammates.

4. On advanced/expert mode, DO NOT BILE THE TANK!
If you do so, a huge horde will appear and once the bile effect runs out, the horde will be after YOU. So don't toss your bile jar as it would be a waste and a danger to your team.

5. Prevent friendly fire by shooting infected in the legs.
Do this when someone is getting swarmed by a huge horde so they won't take further damage. If you run out of ammo and you have a melee, shove them off and swing.

Melee friendly fire is negligible. If you kill the horde around them with a machete without shoving away first, they're gonna be better off than if you shot the horde off them.

I wouldn't recommend tip 2. I see a lot of people complain about this, especially against players with rubbish aim.

A nice guide out there, although some of the points are controversial. Biling a tank has saved me and my team on realism expert plenty of times. +if you have a pipe bomb or a molotov, it's no biggie to get the horde out of the way after. This and hunter's issue has already been brought up, so yeah.

@Amber
They do. I confirm as a 95%-of-time-chrome-user-in-realism-expert and ex. versus player. Same goes for the scout sniper (CS:S weapon).
As to hunter- you can't usually shovelock them in intense games, their rolljump still covers a relatively long range and during the horde shoving it may result in you being pounced. Really depends on a situation. Gotta add that on Expert shoving the hunter may also result in -40hp bitсhslap, which is no bueno.

I wanted to make two comments,1. The pump shotgun and the chrome shotgun,dont really pump faster while shoving,because if you think about it,shoving takes just as long as it takes to pump,because you seemingly still pump/reload while your shoving,and 2.About the hunter rolling trick,this will be ENTIRLLY ineffective if you keep them stunlocked,or shoving them so they cant move,usually,i will do this till the infected dies,

>When someone is pounced, do not shove

It's pretty much the opposite case, at least in adv/exp, since the special infected will do a nice bit of damage while someone's still shooting. If you have a t2 shotgun and you're immediately next to them it would indeed be better to shoot, but all other cases it's terrible advice.

>On advanced/expert mode, DO NOT BILE THE TANK!

You can still bile the tank, mostly if you're running, and there's also the bile glitch.

@Captain Tinker
That seems like a great technique!

Not a bad guide. But I have a personal technique I'd like to share.
It doesn't have a name, but it basicaly makes you shove faster then normal.

What you have to do is basicaly shove and right after that, switch to another weapon to shove again. This works best, if you have meele weapon, because you can shove and strike faster this way (Not realy striking faster but the faster shoving makes it easier)

so: Shove > change (to meele) > Shove > strike > change > repeat

But note, that like with the pump shotguns, your stamina for shoving will be depleted quickly so no overusing.
